The dogs in the street knew ages ago he was going to the Bitumen Bogans; they also knew he was going to grab some of our best players on the way out.

Was there anyone who actually didn't believe that both those things were going to happen?

I thought he'd signed six of our players...

Could still turn out to be four. And they were after Krishna too. Five would've been the worst case scenario, two was pretty much the minimum (and that's the two that are there now).

That was the rumour, yes, let's see what the final number is

Burgess also began getting starts over Singh around the time he was rumoured to have signed with WU. Makes you wonder if Rudan wearing two hats influenced things like team selection. Steven Taylor also mysteriously stopped getting minutes immediately after he signed a contract extension with the nix.

Yeah I think that's clutching, Rudan wanted to win games so would have picked the team for that to happen

I wonder how some will feel if and when we sign some former Sydney players who 'may have talked' to Talay while he was still an assistant coach at Sydney.

The reason people are pissed off is because Rudan was basically acting, and effectively working, as the WU coach while under contract with the Nix. And pretty much lied to everyone here about it, including the club.

What people should really be pissed about is Dome believed those lies and allowed him open slather

Very tempted to go back through this thread to name and shame all the plonkers whom swallowed Judas's shark that he fed them

If you however simply post and say I was a bad judge of character, then you may be left off

I've got no problem with him leaving, I absolutely believe that family was a massive reason.  I also believe we should have let him go immediately, and that he is a disgrace for trying to dance on the head of a pin pretending that 'he didn't talk to players, but they talked to him' can be a thing.

Yeah, nailed it. Auckland - not everything is as black and white as you always seem to think.

Sorry it is

you either have been fudgeed

Or you haven't been

So yes it is as easy as that

I don't think Rudan has ever shown shades of grey

apart from in his hair

There is certainly some fudgeing involved.

home final would definitely help the metrics

Hindsight is beautiful, but lets say had we known how destructive Rudan would be to the nix post a good season, would we have taken him on.

Depends on what the hindsight opinion of the alternative was.

I mean, despite everything that happened in the end - last season was still (mostly) a good watch; which was thoroughly unexpected.

Most definitely. He has shown that with the right attitude, recruitment, training and mentality we are a club that can go on to do much better than we have done in recent times.

I'm still pretty raw about it and not happy with the poaching, but he's given us hope which we desperately needed.
Also, whilst he's certainly to blame for our current situation, he's by no means the only culprit. Let's not forget the FFA, Welnix and the players themselves who accepted the offer to go play elsewhere.

Let's be blunt, Kurto and Burgess would have never been here anyway without him, and losing Dura is more an emotional thing than a real blow to our changes

I still reckon Kurto is a DK link - he may have even coached Kurto in Holland.

Kurto was at Roda July 2012 - July 2014, Kalezic was there July 2015 to June 2016

And Kurto was at Roda 2017-18. It just seems highly likely that Kalezic, either himself or any connections he has, had some part in the club knowing about Kurto.

Entirely possible that Kalezic started the ball rolling and it was finalised with Rudan's blessing.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

14 Jun 22:22

The more I hear about Rudan it justifies my post that he should of left us when he informed the club.

How the hell is it ethical to be with the Nix and work for the other club at the same time.

Bet the FFA would not query his actions, but if the shoe was on the other foot there would be an inquest.

Next season I hope we can erase the smirk off his face.

14 Jun 23:29

yeah, he knew well before the end of the season he was leaving, was actively involved in recruiting our star players to his new club - I know he says they approached him, but he initiated it by informing them he was leaving. He should have been made to leave as soon as it was announced. Or enforce a no midseason transfer/move talks. The off season is long enough, noone needs to be discussing where they are going fr next season until after April.

The ffa didn't do anything during the WeeMac saga so I doubt it.

The thing is I can buy it that Kurto and Burgess approached Mark rather than the other way around, I just can't believe that Dura would have though. There's no way, Rudan must've tapped him up

You have a misunderstanding on 'tapping up'.

Dura was free to talk with which ever club he liked; and another club to him. His contract was expiring.

poor terminology on my part, I know he was free to to talk to other clubs and therefore it isn't exactly tapping up. I guess because of the nature of the circumstances it somewhat feels like "tapping up". The guy is 37 and given how much of his time and effort he has given to this club, I think most of us and probably most at the club didnt see any scenario playing out in which he didn't retire with us. Technically no, not tapping up, but it definitely feels like Rudan fudgeed with what was supposed to be Dura ending his career here

16 Jun 02:39

I don't think he'll play at WU. They have been stockpiling CB's so I think Dura may well be (at best) 4-5th in the pecking.

They can likely offer him more certainty in the front/back office after his playing days are formally concluded. They are looking for club leadership, of which (obviously) he can offer a bundle.

I don't blame Dura at all and in fact think it was the sensible decision for him if they only thing on offer here from the Nix was 1-2 year deal sweating on the NLWG outcome. He'll be better placed being in (not-quite) Melbourne to move on to other things.

And while we could also have done with his leadership, mentoring and continuity, I get the impression that the club recruitment/retention policy has not been too concerned with it.

16 Jun 09:56

Interesting, majority of the time I log on #Rudan is more important than our current current coach.

Cut the fudgeen wire #lads n #Ladies

He is gone!

Ernie Merrick wasn't merged with the Jets thread. Kalezic's hasn't merged with whatever poor sods he ended up coaching. Rudan deserves his own topic, but it should be in the Australian Football section for sure.

Kalezic is currently coaching PSM in Indonesia Liga 1.

Looks like they finished 2nd last year.
