Craig Moore the latest Brisbane Roar casualty. Released from his contract and now likely to join Scottish club St Johnstone.

He follows Charlie Miller and Liam Reddy out the Brisbane door.

Also, John Tambouras and Matt Smith have re-signed for the Fury until end of 2011/12 season.

Ange Postecoglu is the worst coaching appointment in A-League history.

THE A-League is on the verge of losing one of its best young talents with news that Central Coast and Socceroos midfielder Tom Rogic is expected to head overseas in the next few weeks.

Rogic, 20, has been linked with English Premier League club Reading, who is known to have been keeping a close eye on his development for almost six months while there are suggestions Italian Serie B club Ascoli is also believed to have shown interest.

Reading wanted him previously, but he couldn't get a visa. Wonder if the Aussie cap will allow them to get one now. Gotta feel sorry for CCM fans, they always seem to lose players in January.

Haha, that's one of the calls of the century re: Postecoglu. To be fair, they were horrific for the rest of the season when he came in after he let the old players go. Obviously knew what he was doing though!

Losing Rogic will be a big blow to Central Coast.

Losing players in January is what is keeping their club alive though.

Yep, but they will keep looking like chokers. No one ever mentions they have scored the most league points of any team in the A-League, just the GF chokes.

Melbourne Heart has confirmed the signing of promising Australian midfielder Cameron Edwards on a senior contract for the remainder of the 2012-13 A-League season.

A son of former Australia international, Alistair, Edwards joins Heart after impressing coaching staff during a two-week training stint with the club in December.

Edwards, 20, signed with Championship side Reading in 2011 where he developed into a dynamic left-footed central midfielder, before playing out his contract and joining the Nike Football Academy in July 2012.

Edwards has spent the last six months training with the Nike Academy in England, following in the footsteps of Academy graduate Tomas Rogic, who is currently with A-League leader Central Coast Mariners.

I think Marco has got this spot on, one more year at Victory and then look to move overseas. Hope MV agree to it.

Shrewd move by Marco. If he gets the Johnny Warren and then lights it up next year, his value would be immense...

Spot on JV, and if the AW's qualify for the World Cup and he impresses in those three matches, then his value could skyrocket. I think it is a very smart move from Marco's dad.

I agree but the problem is  'if the AW's qualify '  I think it is going to be really tough.

Agree Leggy. The last world cup created an expectation that if we can do it once, we can do it again. I think people forgot that we had a tremendous amount of luck in getting there. Lightning does not always strike twice and with the lack of a midfield general (We miss Tim Brown a lot), Marco may not get that chance to show case his wares on that level.

I know it will be tough, that's why i said 'if'. Would be great for him if he could play at the World Cup though

Think the squad is also stronger than it was last time round, less experienced mind you. It'll still be an incredible feat if we do make it again.

Agree with everything, other than the Brown bit - I think we're really missing Elliott, Brown was a passenger in the All Whites.

Mehmet's quit Perth for Thailand by the sounds of it.

With Smeltz not firing and Mehmet gone, Perth  may have problems at the front of the pitch.

Definitely; have said before we need to go back in time and get a 25 year old Elliott in the centre of midfield and we'd be going great.

 From the BBC.

Perth Glory are in talks with the management of Stoke striker Michael Owen about bringing the former England player to Australia.

The 33-year-old has made just four appearances as a substitute for the Premier League club this season.

A Glory spokesman confirmed the club was interested in securing Owen's services, but said negotiations were in their infancy.

Jade North has signed a three and a half year deal with Brisbane Roar.

Thought Sydney was after him. Still leaves the Roar a visa slot for another striker.

Mariners said he was going for a training camp. They also randomly said "suspended rogic"

He is still suspended for this weekend, after his red card isn't he? Could that be what that was about?

No need to add it to a statement about him going to a Celtic training camp though! Other than to sort of explain why he is being allowed to go - 'he is suspended anyway,so can't play' I guess.

He won't miss any games, think that was part of the Ryan to Rangers backlash. I guess this is why Rogic turned down Reading.

Wonder how much Heart got for Marrone. But yet again a decent Aussie player heading off to China to chase the money. It's things like that which make me glad we are not in the AFC.

Very busy day for a-League transfers. Now Victory have released Julius Davies. He signed with the Victory originally to see out the period he needed to get his Aussie passport. This season he was way down the pecking order. From what I saw, I would have him here.

TWG is reporting that the Roar are looking at him.
