Pity cause he should have got a lot more games for Roar. Top midfield player.
He was good - but a bit ineffectual - lots of pass and move - but nothing really decisive and woeful in front of goal
I would not mind if we had his ineffectualness...

He is the last inaugural Roar player left. Sounds like his family lives in Melbourne, so wants to move back to settle down and have some more kids.

Since this is speculation still, I'll put it here rather than the Sydney thread.

Sydney FC has made the first step in addressing their defensive woes of last season by signing former Brisbane Roar defender Matt Jurman for a second spell with the harbour city club.

Fairfax Media understands that the 23 year-old centre back has agreed to personal terms with the Sky Blues to become their first recruitment of the off-season. He is expected to put pen to paper on a deal worth up to two years and is set to be unveiled as a Sydney FC player again on Wednesday.

Elrich, Gibbs, Kresinger & Visconte all cut by the WSW. Anyone fancy Visconte?

I do. From what I've seen he is a creative player who scores nice goals - could do well here. I wonder why he wasn't retained by Roar or WSW though - so I'd be careful

Looks like a very, very average player. Wouldn't take any of them.

NEW Adelaide United boss Josep Gombau says an FC Barcelona star has called him and said he wants to join the Reds.

Gombau said the player had telephoned him not long after he was announced as Adelaide's coach for a two-year term on Tuesday.

But Gombau would not reveal the player's name. Nor was he specific as to whether his caller was still on Barca's books.

"Now there is one player from Barcelona that played for many years and he told me `Josep, I want to come with you to Adelaide'," Gombau said from Hong Kong yesterday.

This is going to end badly for Adelaide. Seriously Hong Kong. Ugh

Thinking Visconte may end up in Adelaide. Think he;s from there and with Ramsay leaving as well

How many squad spaces do they have left? Thought it was only 1-2 with the same amount of visa spots open. Heart need players, that will probably be the next stop.

I thought the same, but heart probably have enough wide players you'd think - Williams, Duganzic, Garcia, Mebrahtu, Ramsay. Seems like he'd be bottom of that pecking list.

But hadnt thought about the adelaide squad spots..

This article says they had 20 on contract, http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/five-reds-are-vying-for-three-remaining-contracts/story-e6frf4gl-1226550880121

Think Fyfe has re-signed since then. So that leave 2 spots and 1 visa slot, two if Cassio now counts as an Aussie. People comment how little wiggle room our new coach has, the new Adelaide one has almost none.

Rumours that Nichols has agreed to terms with the Victory.

^ I'm sure I read it on an official source (A-League iPhone app??) but don't remember which one.
Good signing. I thought he was gonna go overseas though

Probably saw that the Roar have confirmed he isn't re-signing

BrisbaneRoar @brisbaneroar

After six years, 125 games & 24 goals, @mitchnichols17 has decided not to re-sign. All the best Mitchy! http://bit.ly/1335Hvz  #GoRoar

A few people have said he is looking for a contract overseas but can't get one, so Victory is the fall back.

Mariners fans saying that Simon has re-signed but was 'close' to signing with the Victory at one point.

And a lot of talk about Bojic to Sydney, which seems strange as he has 1 year left on his deal & turned them down before re-signing for 2 seasons.

Official, Matt Simon signs with Central Coast for one season.

He is very much an under-rated striker.

I would say that Sydney's salary cap would be bursting at the seams but there aren't any seams left.

FFA would just buy them some golden thread anyway

TWG is reporting Juric to WSW. Guessing they didn't want to wait for Gamiero. Juric looked handy for Adelaide.

TWG is also reporting Heart & Jets are interested in Kewell, who is without a club again.

Hopefully we manage to get Gamiero. Still have hope

if Hernandez actually shows up (fit) we may not need Gameiro - and they prob want similar cash anyways

Don't want Gamiero. Heads obviously not in Wellington. Carlos is a much better player. When Gamiero was moved slightly out of position at the end of the season his head went down and he didn't put much in.

Ah... The 60% talking about getting another striker... Lets ignore our glaring midfield issue, but who needs a midfield when you can play 6 strikers in front a back 4....

Duddde beat it. Stop exaggerating. We've talked a lot about the midfield and everyone knows we need to address that but theres nothing wrong with trying to retain gameiro.

Central Midfield players that would get into other A-League sides? Manny maybe but he would be about it.

Midfield of:

Bertos          Hernandos        Celeski        Ifill/Totori/Fenton/Boyd

Is Celeski an attacking player or defensive ? Havn't watched him

Been talk about him going to Sydney for a couple weeks. I had written it off as their fans suffering from Bigclubitis.

Ben Halloran signed with Fortuna Dusseldorf. They play next season in the 2. Bundeliga.

Celski is more of an attacking player,
given that list of mids I'd play

Fenton    Hernandez   Celeski  Ifill

Bertos can sit on the bench and if Totori ever makes the lineup I'm not turning up to watch

Queenslander 3x a year.

Looks very light weight to me. Think Merrick will play a 4-2-3-1 or variation there of. Fenton, Hernandez, Ifill behind a striker - need two ball winners who can get them the ball to sit in front of the back fou - of the current squad I'm guessing Manny and Lia but if what Ernie said is true and he wants two starting mids - it'll see Manny at rb and Lia on the pine.
