And to think, A-League January transfer windows are normally boring.

We aren't even officially in the transfer window yet either!

Marco Monteverde @marcothejourno

Jade North has signed a three and a half year deal with Brisbane Roar.

Thought Sydney was after him. Still leaves the Roar a visa slot for another striker.

How about this little gem of information:

"Brisbane can squeeze North under its salary cap as a marquee player with financial assistance from the FFA"

I wonder if Welnix would cough up for a 'marquee' player if they had it funded in part by FFA.

Wow, under the incredibly loose definition of 'marquee' player I can see how he gets to be an Aussie marquee, but to be getting financial assistance!?  Mods, take control!

Their owners are not exactly skint either.

What a load of bollocks.

It is.

Jade North ffs. What possible justification is there for the FFA to put money into that?

Somebody should play David Gallop the tapes of him playing for us before it's too late.

I assume we had to pay full wage when we had him (regardless of whether terry actually managed to pay him or not).

The Victory Franjic got released today also. No word of where he will head.

Permalink Permalink

Bit of talk suggesting Jimmy Jeggo could be released by the Victory as well. Ange really is taking the axe to their squad.

Permalink Permalink

That was always going to happen though. He had signalled he inherited players that may not be there for long. He did the same at Brisbane too.

Bernie Ibini off to Club Brugge for a trial. At this rate, they will have no players left by the end of the season!

Hardly set the world on fire this season, maybe he needs to step out of his comfort zone. Belgium is a good place to get spotted, and Club Brugge is a big club there.

i liked the look of Jeggo as well, but definitely not the finished product just yet

The tards are relatively stable up front. Why would they throw nut in the mix?

Word around Victoria is that Besart Berisha has signed for champions Dandenong Thunder.

Probably not true...

Why would he do that? Even if his form hasn't been great this year - surely he would be able to find a gig elsewhere in Aus or even Asia.
No way he is going to VPL!
As much as I despise him , if he had to leave Brissie, I'd rather he played for us!

CCM apparantly want Nick Fitzgerald from Brisbane to replace Rogic, Ibini. Fitzgerald has been kept in Brisbane's youth team this year, so Arnie will try to work that in his favour

He has been signed for next season, they are looking to see if they will let him go earlier.

Victory are going to sign Makarounas from the Glory on Monday according to reports.

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/adelaideunited/news-display/Caravella-released/58866

Adelaide United FC would like to advise that midfielder Zenon Caravella has been released from his contract with the club, effective immediately.

Caravella’s request for a move followed discussions with the Reds’ coaching department regarding his opportunities at Hyundai A-League level for the remainder of the season.

It was mutually agreed that the 29 year old, whose contract was set to end at the conclusion of this season, be released to further his career elsewhere, and the club endorsed this recommendation reached between Caravella and the coaching department.

“Zenon has been a terrific club person but we understand his position and wish him well for the future,” Adelaide United Football Director Michael Petrillo said.

Caravella made 37 appearances in all competitions during his time in Adelaide and was a respected individual within the club.

“I really enjoyed my time at Adelaide United and I leave this city and club with fond memories,” Caravella said.

“Unfortunately this season hasn’t worked out for me as I had hoped, but I’m grateful that the club has allowed me to pursue an opportunity elsewhere in search of more regular football. I’d like to thank the Adelaide fans for their support, and wish the boys the very best for the rest of the season.”

After releasing the popular Andrezinho, Perth Glory are about to bring back some Latin flair to their attack after in the form of Argentinian number ’10?, Matías Córdoba. Córdoba came through the Argentinos Juniors youth system which boasts such graduates as Fernando Redondo, Juan Román Riquelme, and the one and only Diego Maradona. He is said to be skillful, creative, pacy and always on the attack so should, along with the likes of Liam Miller, provide opposition defences with plenty of headaches.

If he really wants to play in the next World Cup, he needs to find somewhere to play where he will start. He has hardly played the last 2 seasons.

Newcastle Jets have agreed to terminate the contract of Jobe Wheelhouse, with the midfielder set take time away form football.
After the club advised Wheelhouse he would not be re-signed for next season, he decided it would be in the best interest of both parties to stand down for the balance of the 2012/13 season

Very odd. I actually rate him. Suprised no one else tried to sign him

Ok I'm gonna say it - in a very mathematical, fun but accurate way

Wheelhouse = Simon Penn > Vinnie Lia (and Wheelhouse can play CB too if needed)

This being said, I think we don't need another average CMF, but I think you can do a lot worse
