Banner idea:

SUNDAY

I think there's actually a chance that Domey might let us get away with that.

At 8:00pm on a Sunday

"Show us the way to go home

We're tired and we wanna go to bed

We came to the game 'bout an hour ago

We can't be right in the head

Everywhere the Nix roam

Over land or sea or foam

You can always hear us singing this song

Show us the way to go home.

Ok, this is pasted from the season ticket thread, taken from a marketing email for season ticket sales (I think?);

" ... With 12 games at Westpac Stadium in Wellington ... "

So are they saying two of the TBA fixtures will be in Wellington? Giving us 12 home games?

No, that is last season page with the dates changed. Tickets are not on sale for another 3 weeks, so I doubt they have the website ready for people to buy them.

Yeah they havent properly updated the info on the page, still last seasons info. And yeah it states 'On sale soon' for each ticket

As has already been stated a couple of times the people who are whining on here about the days/times of games are pretty much all going to be at the games anyway.

The reason we are whining is because we can see that some of these games (e.g. Sunday at 7pm) are not going to appeal at all to the casuals who the Nix desperately need to get along to increase attendance and revenue.

The whining on here isn't really based in personal self-interest, it's based in a concern for how this draw impacts on the club as a financially viable entity. Sorry, but anybody who can't see that is an idiot.

Taking 3 home games on the road next season is different. That's nothing to do with TV and there's legitimate reason for hardcore supporters to be annoyed about that.

Particularly annoying when the fixtures out of Wellington have better kick off times!

I recall a time when the SPL had 6:05pm Sunday kick offs for TV.  Suffice to say it was annoying for fans, and that particular slot is no longer.

Spanish example is fairly irrelevant as it's a different culture over there where they don't even have their evening meal until about 10pm!

Cheers.

ChCh could work. No nightrider fares unfortunately.

The February TBC - NZ is because of a possible ODI at the stadium? Was hoping they push that to ChCh/Auck and play one of the earlier ones in Wellington, to break up that 7 week gap (and give us 11 home games).

This would be much better.  I just realised that there will be some coin forked out for:
  • Car trip to Napier
  • Filghts to ChCh
  • Tickets to All Whites if in Wgtn
All in the space of a month (for a family).
Angst levels rising now...

As far as I know Napier & Chch are confirmed.

Feb 1st game is still TBA as it is during the scheduled ODIs and Cricket has first call on Westpac.

Permalink Permalink

It'll be in Auckland. FFA would have scheduled us away like they would for any other team whose stadium is unavailable, but the nix wouldn't have said anything figuring they could just take it elsewhere if they were scheduled.

I see, is this because BCCI haven't decided how many games they want to play in NZ?

Maybe Topleft07 can answer this, is there anything happening at the stadium in November that could have stopped the Phoenix playing? ie Turf being re-laid?

Yeah there is meant to be a few weeks in/around November for us to do a turf renovation - not relaying the turf as such. That will be a much bigger job and won't be happening for a few years.  So yeah that could be it.

Fuck this stupid game

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but do Season Ticket holders get tickets to the Napier, Christchurch and Feb 5 game?

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wellingtonphoenix/news-display/Napier%20and%20Christchurch%20to%20Host%20Phoenix/69275

The PR spin in this kind of announcement does no-one any favours.  Why Wellington Phoenix of all things needs to "help Christchurch" and "support the local football community" I'll never understand.

I'd really like to know the business case behind these travelling games.  Presumably they cover match costs or turn a small profit but there must be increased costs involved as well.  But it isn't going to help sponsorship, attendances in Wellington, I'm confused about what they get out of it?
