Wellington Phoenix Men

2013/14 Fixtures

As far as I know with the Christchurch games, the council is underwriting it (I read this somewhere),

Kenny said Vbase had ''worked very hard with the Phoenix to get them to bring a game to Christchurch'' but success of the venture would be dependent on public support.

''We have to pay the Phoenix to come here and rightly so because it's their home game and they are coming out of Wellington so their expenses have to be met.

''We just want the public to support it. If we end up with a small crowd, it's not going to do us any good.''

This is from the Stuff Article here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/8821320/Phoenix-to-play-in-Christchurch-NRL-on-cards

Was going to look to get a season ticket this year after getting a ticket for the first 2 or 3 seasons and make the effort to support the team.

But having a look at the draw with 3 late Sunday games + 3 away home games, there is really only 6 games I am likely to attend at best.

Can't really justify getting a ticket with that schedule

Looking on the brightside, with that seven week gap, we get to sing "its good to be back" twice!

If you pay for six games by walking up to ticketek and paying a booking fee, it will work out the same as a season ticket anyway.........and you get a scarf and magnet. I'm possibly only going to four games for the same reasons you have given but I've renewed my season ticket. It also means you've already paid for the games you think you may not go to so if circumstances change, you may as well go.

By the time a proper (including all whites) phoenix side plays in Wellington in December, it will have been 8 months since Wellington has seen them.

Yes.  Although AK not confirmed.  It's cricket dependent.

Thought you had it as haven't you been posting in the Napier thread?

I may pop along if it's a nice day, used to attend the occasional Spirit game at NSO back in the day.

The Phoenix also hope to stage their February 1 A-League game against Adelaide United at Auckland's Eden Park.

That will go ahead if Westpac Stadium is comfortable turning a cricket pitch into a football one overnight.

India are set to play a limited overs cricket international at Westpac on February 15, with the Phoenix hosting Melbourne Heart the next day.

So yeah, we only will get 10 home games after all ...

Is that implying that if Westpac can't turn it around, they will sway the auckland game around with that game?

Horribly worded but that is what I think Sam is implying. They have done a 1 day turn around before but they are missing the skills of TopLeft07 now. Either way, it seems we will have 3 Home & Away games this season. Pretty sure we were promised only a couple.
