Is it actually that difficult?
Is it actually that difficult?
No.
Its quite simple really: Gold pass gives you halfway views, Silver pass gives you a view from everywhere else. A 6 game flexi pass is exactly that. And the membership is something else (access to some special Facebook page, priority booking for finals tickets, able to purchase tickets for end of season awards... ??).
I just go to ticketek, buy a silver, and sit anywhere. Simple.

Exactly, though you're description of the 'membership' shows just how unclear that particular option is.

I guess. But ive never really looked into it, and from what i remember you cant buy a membership and a season ticket together (season ticket has all the membership benefits anyway i recall)
Tegal - I am saying that no tiered pricing is easier to market / sell, ergo sell more season tickets.
I wonder how many gold season tickets we actually sell? It cannot be many.

"season memberships from $x" is pretty easy to sell.
JD seems to think that once they get to the website that they are then put off. I disagree, its not that difficult.
You do agree that once they get to the website the tiered pricing doesn't put people off.
Tiered pricing is not that hard to market, usually you would just market the lowest price.
When is the last time you saw any advertising that is any more confusing than this?

I don't seem to see any Phoenix season ticket marketing with prices anywhere which is an issue for me. Less slogans, more real information I say!
I disagree that the website is not off putting. Not for people who are definitely going to buy a ticket no matter what but for people that may decide on a whim, it's not as easy as it could be.

No one decides to buy a season ticket on a whim. No one.
I know it has strong competition, but this is the bizarrest thread.
I wonder how many gold season tickets we actually sell? It cannot be many.
Why does it matter?
As Tegal has repeatedly pointed out those people are handing over a bunch more money to essentially gain nothing more than those of us with lower membership tiers.
If a fool and his money want to be parted I'm more than happy the club provides them with the option to do exactly that. Each and every gold one sold is just extra cash in the bank for doing literally no more work and costing the club nothing. Fantastic.
Where exactly is the problem?
"He's operating a turnstile down the left flank"
just to change direction a wee bit.
In terms of simplifying the process itself, how do you think an option for an automatic renewal of season passes each year would go?
Ticketek aside, I think its a good idea to simplify the renewal process to the point where you wouldn't have to do a thing. It also creates something of a cost to not renewing as you'd have to go out of your way to cancel it, which might keep some of the people who 'umm and ahh' over whether to renew or not.
Allegedly
Sounds good to me. Opt out rather than opt in. For me, I would've let it automatically renew this time. As it is, I haven't renewed yet.
As for NZ_Dave. The problem is we are not selling anywhere near enough season tickets. I don't presume to have all the answers but just putting out some ideas.
I think season tickets are actually pretty cheap so I do not think price is the issue. Therefore, there must be something else that could be done. Advertising the price better would be a start...

This is where I come at it from.
We sell 3500 seasons tickets roughly.
But we can count at a minimum on roughly 6000 to turn up to each game. I know that it's not the exact same 6000 turning up - but isn't it weird that there is such a gap when season tickets are such great value??

from a perspective of a student member who is yet to resign on with this years membership its becoming slightly hard to justify buying a membership, im still not exactly sure what i get out of it, it doesnt feel as though im any more part of the club than the casual fan. Im going to renew when i can afford it because it supports the club, which im fine with, but a little more club-member exclusive content wouldn't be too bad.

My view is anyone who has bought a season ticket you should treat as well as possible, because they care enough to want to go to all your matches! I just don't get why you would differentiate between them and other fans
Some fair points from people about whether this is or isn't a complex process. You're right, I don't think it is that difficult - what I think is difficult is how to actually assess the value of the different things that are offered between the various packages (someone else amde this point above). Generally, I think if you have a simpler story to tell it's a lot easier to sell something

Just a little more behind the scenes videos like pre-season footage/player profiles about new signings and things would be quite cool, i realised they're certainly improving (i dont know if it was a problem with my email or something) but i got very little in term of club content through email only a few over the whole season. I don't mean to be bitter because I realise they're trying to expand the brand to outsiders but it'd feel cool to experience the goings on in the club rather than having to find out from here or twitter. I've read the new membership promises and it looks good and seems as though members are going to be really involved, but from someone who can't attend the games, enjoy the atmosphere, attend preseasons etc its hard to really appreciate shelling out money for a plastic card with my name on it, a few emails about early function bookings and that there is going to be an announcement at some point.

Just on the Club Membership vs Season Ticket thing.
Before Club Membership came about, it was included in the Season Ticket Price (All of them were ~$30 more expensive)
So Pre Club Membership:
Season Ticket & Club Membership = $200
Out of Town Membership = $30
With Club Membership:
Season Ticket = $170
Club Membership = $30 (This means anyone can pay the $30 to be a club member with benefits if they choose to, but also a season ticket holder can choose not to pay the extra $30 which they previously had to pay)
*note - Prices are made up based on approx figures I remember.
Currently at Westpac, you can buy any ticket and once inside the stadium, sit anywhere you like. It's not like there's a queue except for the zone and you can get around that wasily enough. Perhaps a one fee for any sit would hurt as much as we think? What pisses me is this membership thing. It should be automatically incorporated into any season ticket as a right. Currently it smells of double dipping. Is the idea to attract fans and get them to spend more money or is it to put them off with extra charges? So e of our die hards travel from Palmy, some from Hawkes Bay. Surely the cost they pay in getting here is more than enough. Even those closer to home in the Waiarapa and Kapiti Coast.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Before 2012/13 season Club membership was included in the Season ticket, but season tickets were also ~$30 more expensive. Now it is not included, but you can CHOOSE to pay the extra $30.
So there is a choice now, before you didn't have the choice.
You may have a choice but why not just include it in the normal anyway? What real advantages were there anyway? For me the ST gave me cheap access to the games and a real benefit was the $10 parking under the stadium. That was a brilliant accessory to have.

Are you sure that's right? I seem to recall the membership giving you all the benefits that a season ticket had, except for the fact it isn't actually a game day ticket. And that also, you cannot buy a season ticket and a membership together, as all the benefits are already included. It would essentially just be a waste of $30

We have had season tickets pre and post 2012/13 (but no club membership post 2012/13). Haven't noticed any difference - it just represents good value per game if we get to all or almost all Wgtn games, plus a couple of perks (like vouchers for merchandise or $10 parking).
The extras are nice but not going to sway me any more - although they may well do for those "on the margins" so to speak.

Only 1,000?? Oh dear. I hope that changes with a lot more realising that you only pay about $16.00 a game with an ST.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Am potentially going to become a first time season ticket holder this season. Due to another Sunday evening commitment we've been unable to make the 5pm Sunday games so with the majority of home games being that time for the last couple of seasons we've just been getting tickets when we could go. But looks like Sunday night is becoming free this season so will buy 2 season tickets if so.
Without understanding it much and not wanting to read the whole thread, can anyone summarise what the membership gives you that the season ticket doesn't? Sounds a little odd that a season ticket holder won't be a "member."

Taken from 442..... they run this thread every year normally updated every day ... Also given FFA said yesterday 56.5 K then the figures seem close...

I thought the Club Membership is directed primarily at supporters living outside of Wellington.
Plus they probably know that most Season ticket holders will buy it = $$$
It is 69 days until kick off.

69...

It is. Hence why you only get 1 ticket as opposed to 6 or 11 with the other packages.
Wonders aloud if this is possible ... if someone phoned the Nix's could they get the memberships to date figure .... the number being used on 442 is almost a month old and would be well out of date ...

Not a huge issue for me ... was kinda thinking a local may do it ... all it means is no one has the real number for the Nix ... as I posted earlier 442 update on a regular basic and most of the information comes from fans updating the page from their local knowledge ... some clubs have a counter ...todays numbers are... { PG & AU also need to be updated they are about a week old]...
