Next to nothing, not a huge upgrade on Doyle and probably below Muscat imo.

Clearly a first choice for the AWs.

If he can perform well for TW he's probably a good chance. We need a decent LB/RB and he's a Kiwi. But nothing suggests he's better than what we've got.

Agreed. Since Doyle appeared on the scene I would say he (Doyle) is not worse than Hogg and he is a bit younger (by 3 years) so there is a bit more potential to learn and grow. Let's see what Hogg does for TW now. He could be considered an injury cover for LB.

They must be pushing the cap. If we have the cash we should be going for it. Title aspirations etc.

I'd grab Williams, it'd stop him from scoring against us.

Williams flatters to deceive, for mine. Has always looked like a good player but never really produced.

Would be an okay signing, but only if we got rid of Cunningham. We have enough players in that position.

Williams is very, very similar to Cunningham actually. Obviously doesn't take up an import spot, though.

Definitely not a priority for us; and most would rather see Boyd come through.

Franjic, though..we should really be pushing for him if at all possible.

No doubt Ernie would work wonders with him

My favourite non-Phoenix A-League player

hang on a moment- the side netting likes David Williams. Hmmmmmm

Ahhh, no, you are wrong here, martinb.

The side netting only likes him best among non-Phoenix players.

Once he becomes a Phoenix player, this will turn sour (and all his shots will be in the net).

Sam Gallaway perhaps? Article suggests he's be released so he can pursue an opportunity at another club.

Apparently can play either left or right back. Can't recall his quality though.

[EDIT] Looks like he's off to WSW

SuperSport United have landed their second New Zealand international in the space of a few months after securing the signature of defender, Michael Boxall.

Read More: SuperSport Confirm Brockie

The Siya crew broke the news back in December that SuperSport had landed Wellington Phoenix striker, Jeremy Brockie, on a pre-contract and agreed a fee for him to join the club in January.

Now the crew has had it confirmed that Matsatsantsa have brought another Kiwi into their ranks from Phoenix, however that Boxall will only be joining them in July at the start of next season.

The club’s CEO, Stan Matthews, explained, “We’re excited to have signed Michael, and we wanted to have him here sooner, but his club indicated that he was very important for them and that they didn’t want to lose him now. Due to that we’ll only get him at the end of the season.”

Boxall, a 6’ 2” central defender, has played in New Zealand, the United States and Australia during his career so far.

Please no. I really rate Boxall.

Oh, thank goodness, if we've got him till the end of the season that's okay. But this confirms the need for a couple of good young CBs.

Ernie has said Offseason focus is a Striker & a Defender to cover right across back (See the Podcast), and 3 youngsters

A great shame. I guess he felt time was running out for him at 26 with being stuck on the bench.

Permalink Permalink

Not happy with that but Boxall needs and deserves to start somewhere.

He has never let us down IMO.

Always done what has been asked of him and has been a little hard done by.

How so? He's not going until the end of the season. We will have time to recruit.

Yeah I saw that, was more of a comment referring to the increased need to recruit in that area now that he'll be gone.  As you say, not panicking right now but they'll have to get serious about recruiting in the backline soon.

Always been a fan of Boxall when he's got a chance. Little disappointing, actually.
