Last year we started quite well, I thought and many others did that we would be in for Top 4, especially after some gutsy wins early, my main recall was beating Victory in the unite round ft Rojas + Kosta and I thought we were in for a similar year to 23/24, however all fell apart after the 2nd derby and other injuries..
Different to this year in the fact we were good at the start and then dropped off like crazy.
Can we get over this mental block of losing against AFC?
We were the better team in the inaugural derby, ishige and co had chances for us to win the game earlier in the 2nd half, and we were really unlucky not to win that.
2nd derby came and we fought really hard but AFC were also good and the close loss really killed the boys.
By then we have this losing mentality, which the 3rd derby didn’t help but so didn’t our home derby this year.
Then comes the weekend and we pull out a timid flat first half and only wake up with 10 men too late. While ref did not help at all, we would have been really lucky to escape with a point regardless.

The question is will we fall off after heartbreak once again, or can we regroup and make the 6. We know if we go on we will have some good games and some bad ones and could end up in finals, but will likely be picked off really easily by higher ranked team who set up to beat our tactics.
We don’t have the players for a high line, and i really think we should have sat back against afc and tried OG Chief ball for the best chance of winning however if it didn’t work he would have got so much shark, remember how many iffy performances we let go in the 23/24 season only because we scraped so many last minute winners..

one difference between this season to last, is that last season at this stage we were starting to, or about to, go through an injury crisis whereas this season we have basically started in an injury crisis. I don't think chiefy's first choice back 5 have played together, we're missing senior players, Piper needs to be managed etc. So we've been generally competitive in most games (Mac prob the worst performance) with objectively a weaker first team and squad than what is possible - which is better than last season.

So Brisbane's only defeat? Wellington Phoenix.

Brisbane's only goals conceded? All in New Zealand.

Think we have also reached the A-League circle of parity already as well. Seven rounds in that is quite impressive.

Three for me, and two for them.

All is well at the top again after Sydney's win over Perth.

Win this afternoon and we take Perth's spot in 5th, big game.

Except this time we have 17 games left to redeem ourselves. So, um, hope?

Nix 5th best GF, but 2nd worst GA

Not exactly the most exactly apt quote, but has the general idea. We definitely do need more of one and less of ‘tother to get the results we want:

I dislike this table immensely

Macarthur 2 Brisbane 1
WSW 0 Smug blue cods 2
Newcastle 2 Sydney 0
Mel C 0 Mel V 1
Perth 0 Adelaide 1

Then update it to 7th and one point off 4th. :)

After all the injuries and a difficult start I'd be happy with the win for 6th and, for a bonus, a two goal margin to get the goal difference back to neutral.

We are definitely the worst team in the league and will be bottom of the table again soon.  Hope they varnish the spoon for us.

If CCM beat Brisbane tomorrow, we'll have our answer.

Well it wont be us, because then the worst team will be WSW, who our star striker joined to win trophies with (lol)

Queenslander 3x a year.

Blue Goo 1 Jets 3
WSW 0 Macarthur 1

Getting pretty crowded there at the top.  We desperately need to keep in touch with the pack.

Or left to get one more pay day! I think he didn’t have that many good options when he joined the Nix, but last season he did.

Just gives Valkanis something easy to rant about this week.

We have played like sh*t but still in sight of the Top 4, if we could find a bit of form it would be great.

just lovely to see the teams that we lost players to are below us, so much for leaving us to win things!!!

probably true, but that's never the messaging given is it? always somehting like " I saw their vision and really bought into their plan and drive to win trophies"

knowing they left for money and are not properlling their teams higher in the league simply justifies Welnix not offering them more money, it also doesnt reduce my enjoyment.

And rightly so, fingers crossed it ends up that way too 😎

Adelaide Sydney Jets City to come.

All above us. Do well on this run of games and things turn around a lot.

Or not.

Fingers crossed for some good fortune and play, BT and injury returns and getting on a roll.

Adelaide on a bad run with players out, Sydney have only won 2 out of the last 5 and only scoring 3 goals, with Lolley out till end of the month, Jets just lost Baldolato for the season. We should hopefully have a few players back for the trip to Australia. Don't want to jinx us but could be a start of a very good run.
