With some of the attendances coming out of Aussie really dont have any issue if the crowd is less than 20k. Apart from the Warriors and the All Blacks there arnt many sports teams that regularly attract crowds of 20k. Yet for some reason us football fans seem to think what really are just 2 club teams should be doing it.
Tend to agree. We obsess way too much about crowds. Yes it would be nice to sell out our stadium, but the reality is we're a small city.
Consistent crowds of 8k are good for us.
My point on the smaller stadium is more about how awesome the atmosphere would be if we were pulling 8-11k in a small rectangular stadium and selling out most games or getting close to it.
Man we like to move the goalposts. If you're happy about a crowd not meeting 20k for one of the biggest games of the season but on another thread shooting down AFC for getting 11k (in a town where the only attended sport is the one that actually needs a second NZ team in the competition IMO) it shows the state the Nix is in.
AFC Wins a trophy first (excuses), Nix gets worse crowds (excuses), Nix not making OFC Pro League (excuses), what's the excuse gonna be when AFC reserves finish higher than the WeeNix in their first season too?
Im not in Wellington. So whats the vibe, whats the publicity coming out of the club, is there fighting talk coming from anywhere, is anyone trying to stir up interest? With the current state of the NZ economy its not surprising that less people are showing up. People have less discretionary spending.
Lately, Sheridan's been giving possession away with poor passes. The comms tend to ignore these sorts of errors, so maybe viewers miss them too. IMO he is off his best this year. Loke is a sharper more talented player, and more dangerous on attack, which is a bigger part of the WB role this year, with the WBs playing much higher. Still too soon to tell but I suspect Loke, like Sutton at the start of his Nix career, will come out of his shell after a few games and show more of his attacking skills. If given a chance. imanixsupporter
Hughes said in his post match interview that Sheridan was going to play RWB before the James injury, suggesting he is ahead of Loke in the RB pecking order, which I am glad about. There has been so much Loke hype and I think Sheridan has looked better when played there, he has been so unlucky to have had Payne ahead of him

There’s definitely been an uptick in the advertising for the game in the last week or so. Had a few colleagues talk about it but that’s just my snapshot. I’m just gutted to be missing it.
There would be no excuse but yes, someone will try to find one

Funny, whilst some of the Wellington based fans will try their best to defend/support the club no matter what you and observerfromuh have always taking the blame first, attack second position - seems your support lies with another team instead of the Nix.
I've been around since before the first game, and yes I've complained and moaned about playing style, selections and signings. But, like most here, my default position is one of support and hope for the club.
You two in particular come off as AFC attack dogs!

Suggest you try and read a post and understand what is being said. Pretty sure i never said i was happy that the crowd might not got to 20k. Just think its not as dire as some like to think it is. Have always said although i get the Nix need 10k to break even i think that figure isnt realistic while the team is inconsistent. Also pretty sure i never posted anything about shooting down AFC for getting 11k. What i did ask was if crowds of about 11k were okay for them why wernt 6/7k okay for us. As for crowds how about you wait before crowing too loudly about them.
A very nice piece on Armiento last night on TVNZ 6pm news (sports bulleting) - fully disclosing his battle with Hodgkins lymphoma last year. Came across as a thoroughly nice bloke.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

The dream of every ALM team to have their own 10k stadium... Just never seems to happen unfortunately. WU gave it a good shot and we know where they're currently at...

I am not an AFC attack dog and apologies if it comes off that way. As a Nix fan who saw a great season in 23-24 and should have made it to the final if we had our proper striker take that pen (the less said about the taker the better).
We should have built on this with good recruitment and from my POV could have been in a spot to actually win something last season.
I just want the club to do better and it seems like ever sense AFC have come into existence the reaction by the club has been poor and even the build up to this years derby hasn't done much for the NZ public to keep interested IMO.
I am so looking forward to seeing how our injury-hit team with such an attacking mindset do against the stable organised Auckland outfit. I really want us to give them a bloody shake-up.
On the game itself, I think the key is if James plays or not. If he doesn’t, LKH will have to go into that left centre back role which I feel like Lachlan Brook will run rings around him, Sam Cosgrove (let’s be honest, we let the worst players score against us, never forget when Golgol Mebrahtu turned into prime Batitstuta against us a few years ago) and May will be difficult for Hughes and Sheridan to contain, not to mention Randell who is been in great form, they have a lot of weapons, have to be 100% focused against them, otherwise they will make you suffer, Rufer Nagawasa and that midfield group have to win their battles.. otherwise they high line will be in for a torrid time
Cosgrove is obviously severely lacking in some areas but I think he has the physicalty and height to cause serious problems for Hughes and Sheridan. LKH, I just don’t think has the mongrel or heading ability to do much.

Not sure if I'm part of the two, or just caught it the crossfire haha.
But have been a Nix fan since day one and always will be. Love the club. Of course I complain at times (as most of us fans do), but that's because I care about the club and I always try and be positive.
Yep it’s just a shot gun blast by someone aimed at anyone who is not a sheep and dares to question things up with the club, hoping that one day those aspects will improve.
I also have supported the Nix since game one. It’s quite a large club.

Thing is though you seem to have this perception that your the only one who is critical of the club. The difference between you and most of us who speak up for the club is many of us have also been critical of the club over the years when its been needed we just dont bring personality's into it or say it with the venom you seem to be able to do. Also rather than post on social media if i have criticism i bring it up with the club directly instead of posting often baseless accusations on forums. So no not a sheep, perfectly capable of forming my own opinions and speaking directly to the problem rather than firing wasted shots.

I can see Sheridan starting this one because he's got more experience and maybe more trusted defensively but Lokes not put a foot wrong the last two games and in pre-season and definitely deserves to start.
It will also depend on who's available in midfield and CB so Loke may end up the only option we have RWB anyway.
Good on you for doing that. What was the last communication you had with the club on a major issue and did they attempt to fix it? ballane

Nothing shotgun about it, t was directed at you primarily! You may very well have been a suporter since day one, but it's pretty celar to me and may others that you're allegiances have shifted somewhat since the emergence of AFC. Not saying you now support them, but I'm questioning your actual support of the Nix given the distinct lack of it.

Actually, spoke to Domey about 4 weeks ago about the double headers. They saw the point I and others raised and are going to see if it can be changed going forward. There dosnt always have to be an immediate resolution to an issue sometimes it just a case of bringing it to their attention. Not saying by any means that everything i bring up with them is either agreed or actioned on. Pretty sure if they wernt interested or didnt want to listen the staff wouldnt engage as they do. Also dosnt have to always be Domey that things are brought to. Have brought a number of issues to the attention of other staff and yes they have worked to resolve them.
Howdy all. Does anyone know how it is working with tickets as it a double header. For example if you have a season pass for men’s can you arrive early and watch the women. Or if you just buy a ticket for the women can you hang around and watch the men?

Yes a season membership/ticket for either team will gain you access to watch both games.

What's this AFC we keep mentioning? The only AFC I know is the Asian Football Confederation. ;)
