ok - so it seems journo's are using this website for their next story, why don't we make something ficticous up like "pie at the stadium causes food poisoning" - heaps of people agree and say they had food poisoning following a home game, jouno's report it - chronic outbreak etc laugh is on us.
Only an example but sure some guys could think of some good yarn...?

Sorry, but this was a story before I posted it on here. People do get carried away on here.

Back to the issue at hand, I like the idea of warning patrons that random tickets would be checked, and have a security guard checking every fifth or so ticket. This would likely get rid of the problem (no matter how widespread or not it supposedly is), but would allow Westpac to keep using their electronic turnstiles, which no doubt cut costs.Footpaul2010-10-19 21:46:07

I know that at some events (can't remember which), Ticketek have staff with mobile scanners at the gates so it's entirely possible that Ticketek may step in and initiate some sort of solution involving those.

I can't speak on behalf of the stadium on this so will leave it there as my knowledge of the systems we have in place is limited.

Fuck this stupid game

Random checks wouldn't help. Id just take my chances unless there was some heavy penalty involved. Plus random checks gives security the chance to get lazy on it over time, which they will.

Those scanners are Ticketmaster, I'm guessing its cheaper for them to do the ticketing themselves than use the stadium system. Thats a guess though.

Little f**ker just called radio sport saying he's bummed out how they've finally realized and now he's gonna have to pay full price tickets. Apparently hes saved thousands over the last 10 years. Pricks like him, who say it like they've done nothing wrong, really piss me of.

Ahh, so its a "little thing" ,as you call it.

That little thing adds up to one big ripoff over time that ,when added to all the other pressures faced by management, threaten the viability of the Wellington Phoenix.

The little thing attitude is a bit like the person who calls themselves a Phoenix fan but doesn't turn up regularly to the games because it was.. too hot/cold/windy/raining/too late/too hung over etc etc

The little things do matter to most loyal Wellington Phoenix Fans.

I don't buy this 'it's better than not having them turn up'.  If people can only afford/want to pay $15 to watch.  Then go to every second game and pay full price  instead.

You're wrong. you don't even know me. I know the important things in life and I know that saving a few dollars every two weeks isn't one of them. So Jog on son.

How dare you call me dishonest.

There should be a little notification on the thing where you scan your ticket that the security person sees, and if it pops up as child, and the person isn't a child, then the security guy can tell them to piss off and not come back.

With Terry a little bit down of the money at the moment, the worst thing to do is to rip off the club.
Its not much more money, and if you pay for a childs ticket, when your not a child, you obviously need to piss off and watch it at your house (or scab the sky off a mates).

  1. You're not a child (or at least you claim not to be).
  2. Hence, when you purchase a child ticket, you are lying.
  3. Lying is dishonest.
  4. Hence, you are indeed a dishonest individual.

WHAT ?????????????????

of course not it's an adults one I swear. (two adults in fact)

I'm not that type of person.

the second season I didn't have one so at the last game of that season was the only time I bought a child's ticket to get in. ONCE !!!!!

that's it.

Whoooo. It is theft. It is not a little thing. It adds up to thousands of dollars.

If I was working, and stole $5 from the till every night,it'd add up. Do you think my boss would accept that it was just a little thing?

If I snuck into the stadium, would I not get done for it?

In Whoooooo's defence m'lud it seems he has only done it once.

If he was a serial rip-off artist I would despise him more than a nix supporter wearing Furry gear.

We all make mistakes. He's OK (except when he get's wound up winding everyone else up)

Id imagine same rule as at my work. No ID no concession price. With obvious exceptions in cases where common sense should prevail e.g 5 year old kid is obviously a child..

But can't they say "Im a child, I don't have ID." I just think a teenager could easily get away with it. A short, cleanly shaven 19 year old could easily look like a 16 or 15 year old.

What we have to remember here is that Ticketek charges a $5+ service fee to all purchases. So a $28 ticket can turn into upwards of $33. As a student myself, I always pay the $18.50, knowing that it will be aiding the Nix. However I do get grumpy at having to pay more money on top of this just so a Ticketek operator gets paid heaps to print my tickets for me. If only the stadium was not forced to use Ticketek, then we could really have some affordable prices to the games.

99% of kids have school ID. So that covers teenagers. Anyone 12 and under is pretty obviously a child, common sense should prevail then.

agreed........surely we can get rid of the ridiculous $5 on top of every purchase.....if you buy 10 tickets they charge you $5 for the booking fee - not too bad, but when your buying one each week that can hurt a bit.

solution, buy a season pass, pay one booking fee for the entire season! and before you say "I can't afford $2xx in on hit" save the $$ over the year, drink one less beer at every game for the season and that's half the price of next season's pass.

I know that part of using Westpac stadium is having to use Ticketek or Ticketmaster or whoever else happens to be reaming customers on the day for event tickets in this country, but I love what Eventfinder are doing. $2 booking fee.

it costs $66 per game plus whatever for me to bring myself and fiance (who loves the nix as much as I do) and our daughter to games.

That may not be a lot of money to the likes of you, but for a family living on a single average income this is, actually expensive.

I agree that people shouldn't rip off the system, but don't be a w**ker about the price of the tickets. It's more difficult for some people to get money to go to these games than what you think.

Stay tuned next week when the forums discuss people not sitting in their allocated seats.

$30 for a ticket to the Kiwis game on Saturday compared to $28 for the Nix. For your average sports fan the Nix certainly does not look as cheaps as some make out.

But in saying that, its still ripping the club off, even if it is small. Nix are one of the few things that offers student tickets which is a great move imo.

That does sound steep. Is that the family membership broken down, or do you all have seperate memberships?
