Shuker didn't get to do much, but his history looks good enough to sign. Also would have been very jet-lagged too.

Toto looked good enough to sign, showed promise and skill.

Pavlovic impressed me. For an under-21 player he was eager, and willing to get involved.

Not too sure on the other two.

toto gave us a couple of unnecessary tricks and otherwise gave the ball away

pavlovic did really well

shuker showed very little but had too little time

What sort of tplayer is pavlovich.  I know reports from last season were unfavourable but he seems to have taken his chance.

So those three looking the most likely to take us up to 20 players?

And where would that leave Simon?

Toto looked like George Mark 2 only even smaller and overweight - don't sign.

Sign up Pavlovic - I didn't rate his time at Newcastle but it he was playing for crazy Branko so i'll cut him some slack. Showed enough and the fact that he counts as a youth player means he will almost certainly be signed.

Shuker didn't have enough time but I'm concerned about how small he is (what is with all these midget trialists?)
I guess he (obviously) played in England though so would be used to not winning headers etc

yes tough on shuker given just off the plane but i was a bit worried about his size and apparent lack of speed, but pretty hard to make a judgement on the time we saw

yes, based on tonight in isolation i would definitely not sign toto either

pavlovich looked strong, good enough on the ball and given hes u21 seems hes a no brainer to sign

I guess with Toto it's going to come down to whether we think  he can do the job some time this season or next (if we're looking at him for a 2 yr deal).

We're unlikely to see the best of him straight away and we're already strong enough without him.  If he's not asking for silly money I'd be prepared to accomodate him and give him a chance ot get fit and used to the league.  The mebourne guys took time but have come good, it will be quite an adjustment, especially the refereeing.

We do need a playmaker to go to the next level and no-one else has looked up to it, surely it's worth the chance?

Edit: Did he look a better prospect than Diego?

Toto look crap to be honest dont need him just as good as daniel or diego. atleast shuker looked comfortable on the ball and looked up and around for passing options you could tell he is a pro.  Who was the big tall kid who came on  up front for  the last 25mins  great strength from the lad.

It's a pity both have come out so late in the piece.  I must say like Frankie Mac Toto intrigues me!

i'd take toto, he looked hungry, give him a wee bit to settle into the league and he might come good... must have a decent foot on him if ricki gives him set pieces too?

not enough to see of shuker tonight to have an opinion, needs at least a training session or two to build some understanding with the team... history suggests yes so trust ricki to make a decision on that one...

pleasantly surprised by pavlovic, seems the natural big-man back up for mcalister too

i'll have all three thanks

Any word on Jade North, was mentioned in the Dom Post today.

Pavlovic looked strong for a young lad, certainly a bit of a handfull, get him signed up as a good option for up front.

Toto looked eager and keen to impress (us or Boca perhaps? ) when he came on, Shuker looked like he knew what he wanted to do but probably has no idea what hemisphere he is in at present!

Some good signs and hope they will turn out well should we sign any of them.

Simon Elliott an option too,  is he just bigging up his own chances or is Ricki interested?

Hernandez took a while to settle, but the potential was always there, I think we could definately see the same from Cornejo. He got much more involved than Diego has managed to in the past year, and showed flair and an attacking mentality. If we can afford him, go for it IMO.

I like Shuker's pedigree and style. He can fill a few useful positions and providing Ricki reckons he's got the right attititude he should fit right in.

Pavlovich is young and a bit raw, he shows signs of promise and reminds me of Hearfield when we first signed him, good base to work on, just needs refining. We need another striker IMO, and it would be great if he was U21, Lovemore has obviously dropped out, so I'm happy with Pav.
You know we belong together...

Agreed - Diego is crap but Toto looked worse. His positioning was all over the shop and while it's harsh to judge him based on a small amount of time I just didn't see anything from him except bad signs.

I guess my point would be that we know Diego isn't the missing piece that's going to win us the league so there's not much point perervering with him as the creative midfielder.  If we can get this guy on a year with a year option then why not give him the chance.

Was impressed by Toto, and paulm, the 'he looked hungry' comment was highly amusing given his physical appearance.  Would like to see some more game-time from him, though.

Because he lost the ball more than he sucessfully passed it. Screwed around with the ball when therpe where 1-2m passes in space. Had oportunities to deliver the ball into the box but screwed around and failed to do so.

I just think he approached the trial all wrong. When you come on try get your foot on the ball and play simple passes to try get into the game. Then you start trying to add your flair etc. But he didnt even provide the basics.

I say give him so more trial game time but i'm certainly not blowing the toto horn like some people on this forum.

Young Pav dude looked great just needed the confidence to have a dig now and a again.

Yeah I think he showed the one thing we have lacked from the center of midfield :
attacking intent.

We need that, so give him a week to train and unless he looks diego-esque, then sign him up I think

sure we could give toto a chance bc he "might" be the missing link but based on tonight i thought he just looked flaky. of course we might have to sign him for the sake of the roster and bc hes desperate enough to accept peanuts

I've begged and pleaded for a creative midfielder for the last 2 seasons and this guy's go forward as stated is the key in my mind. Ifil seems to have help to bridge the gap in the centre forward role, but he'll get more out of someone else working off him.

thought Shuker had atleats two opportunties to go on a gallop down the wing once Boca had seen red and he failed to do so, this was worrying even if he was fresh off the boat Man_utd_fan2010-07-24 07:59:08

any judgment based on 20 mins is harsh. agreed. but if all i had to pick a player was the 20 mins last night those would be my decisions. and by same token, pavlovich should be delighted i am picking him on 20 mins alone

I don't think any judgements can or will be made by Ricki based on that game last night, the only thing you can note is that all 3 looked keen and tried to get involved.

Re: short players - BigMac has a pathetic leap, he was getting out-jumped by the little Boca defenders. Tall obviously does not equal good in the air.

I though Toto looked alright, he seemed to be trying a bit hard but it must be difficult to come on with 20mins as an AM and try and impress. He was better than Daniel.
I like tautologies because I like them.

Had a look at the game again on tv this morning and thought that Toto actually didn't look to bad. He had some nice touches and did put himself about a bit, as for him being overwieght I think the the word should be nuggety in the Maradona mould (now if he could only play like him)

As for Shuker football wise he may be good but even I would fancy my chances if we were both trying for the same lady and I'm no oil painitng.

I'd be happy signing those three (Pav/Toto/Shuker) certainly give us some great options going forward just worried that if North doesn't sign where are we going to find an Aussie or Kiwi good enough to challenge for a starting place at the back.

Cheers.Quality finish that OG!! And did Durante kiss the badge when he scored? Heart that man.

Dura is quality.

Scores a brace; one with his head, one with his boot, one at both ends.

Picking up from the end of last season - he's on fire!

I think we have to sign those 3 really. Pavlovich looked bloody good, Shuker was ok considering he'd only just arrived that day, and Toto whilst looking off the pace a bit, showed some great touches. Besides which we've only got a week left to sign 3 players and we really want an creative midfielder. The first half showed we can play well without one so even if he doesn't come off we wouldn't be too badly disadvantaged.

Once we signed the three bringing us up to the minimum 20 players we can have a bit longer to work though a contract with North or to find another defender.

Do they get another chance?

I think all three ( esp. Pav ) showed enough for me  to want to see if they have more to offer and if they will fit in.
I hope we aren't signing players for a year or two based on a 20min show.
