Because didn't get a look in and was dominated against the might of Mark Milligan and Colosimo

Still, guess he'd be an ok option off the bench even if he does turn out Chen-esquevaleo2010-07-27 16:56:31

Like that Brisbane young gun Barbarouses?

Not keen for Bambang even though his name is awesome. Will struggle in this league, no doubt.

i thought it was a real oversight letting Barbarouses go, when he did come on the pitch he looked good and he was young. I felt last year Dadi was a waste, Barbarouses was better and underutilized, Dadi didnt do much except for his first game. Macallister is looking good thoughfrendil2010-07-27 16:56:15

Gotta agree with news. Seems confident enough to step up to the plate. If good enough, I think he may be quite a good pick up

We wanted to keep Costa but understandably he didn't want to stay.

And with Bambang I just can't get excited over a 30 year old striker who has only succeeded in a less than good league.valeo2010-07-27 16:58:01

Yea i get that but i just didnt see why Dadi was chosen above him when he came to the club

The fact that he went to Holland and failed miserably says to me he doesn't feel comfortable outside of Indonesia.

Could be a thousand reasons why he didn't succeed there with not feeling comfortable outside of Indonesia not being one of them.

He did well in Malaysia, for the record.

Also, if somebody in the NZFC had a scoring rate like that I'm sure they'd get a look in at  A-League level if not a contract.  If the Indonesian League is slightly better (major guesswork, right here) then I should certainly hope he's being closely observed by Ricki and the boys.

Yeah I get your point here. I'm not excited about it. But i do think he has the potential to be a suprise package for us.

Also, I dont think he would turn out like Chen as you said. Cause this guy seems to come accros a whole lot mature and composed. He was captain of his club I think at some point anyway and would be a very different acquisition to what we saw fro Chen

We signed Smeltzy as a 26yo who had failed in a rubbish league...

I think Barbarouses will prove to be an emerging star and get a bunch of goals this season. Sux to have lost him :(

Looked to have made about half Brisbane's chances in this game:

Yeah, yeah - people roll that out whenever a player with a less than good pedigree is signed by any club now. Lets be honest - Smeltz doing so well was out of the ordinary and not expected by many. (though obviously that Wales game was a turning point)

Hope he does really well - just not against us. Same with Brockie, Moss, Smeltz and wee Mac

A bit unfair. Oz pumped them about 5-0 in freezing condtions from memory, and the Indo forwards hardly touched the ball.

Indo do have some quality up front. They gave Oz a real hurry up in the Jakarta fixture and should have won. This guy could be a good score. Definitely not Chen-esque.

Nah, that was the game that Milligan somehow bungled it into the goal and every 2 seconds there was an Indonesian player down asking for a stretcher

1-0

Pretty sure Bambang would have been on the radar of other clubs like NQ etc. and none of them picked him up.valeo2010-07-27 17:49:47

Just because he may have been on another club's radar, doesn't mean he's not good enough. We are looking to this guy as more of a squad player pushing for game time I assume. Rather than our new super star striker. This guy will be cheap enough to pay as well

There is obviously more to it than that. Having done that trip a couple of times you can't be expected to play with any sort of normality. I just wonder if just didn't like the set up here?

Mind you I never saw the Tranmere forum throwing themselves off of tall buildings when he was released.

Bambang is not a quick striker but he is a finisher type of striker. He is not bad, he is one of the top striker in South East Asian region. When Indonesian NT played against Australia A-League NT last march  he didn't get any chances because he rarely get the ball from the midfielder. Also the reason he wasn't play to his full potential back in Holland because instead of playing as a Striker, he was playing as a wing midfielder. Anyway, I saw it on AFC website that Indonesian League is Rank 8 in Asia while A-league is at 7th.
I can say that  Bambang pamungkas is better than the New signing of Newcastle Jets's Zhang Shou. Zhang Shou struggled  in Indonesian League last season, and I think he only scored 4-5 goals while Bambang Scored 14 Goals

Do you know how many appearances and goals he got in the Netherlands?  Wikipedia doesn't appear to know.

If I am not mistaken I think around 5-8 Goals maybe. And that is not full season. He only played there for like 4 months, actually Roda JC that bought him after like 5 trial matches which he scored 6 goals, and he said he prefer to play in lower league first, so he was loaned to EHC Norad. Maybe because he was  home sick or something and he went back to Indonesia. oh and the Wikipedia made a mistake he didn't scored 39 goals when he played with Selangor FC in Malaysia, he scored a total of 61 goals in 2 years spelled with Selangor FC  in all competition (AFC cup, Malaysian league,Malaysian FA cup,Malaysia Cup and Sultan of Selangor cup).

After coming back from JBurg I managed to sleep through my alarm to take a 2 hour nap to an 8 hour nap and miss training. Went for a run with the football the next day and it was atrocious (far below rubbish). So as a pro i'm guessing he must have struggled

Bambang Pamungkas is the captain of Indonesian national team and i have witnessed my self in Asian Cup how good he is. He's good with his header (he's not that tall tho) Oh i think he scored against Bayern Munich when they had Asian tour.

he just keeps sounding better and better, if the rule about 5 overseas + one from asia is true then he could be a solid and cheap signing

Well give him a shot. But i reckon he will struggle with the weather here during his trial. I just got back from Indonesia 2 weeks ago :p so i exactly know how different it is.

I really feel like he could turn out good. If he can adapt to the climate here then I reckon he'll be alright.

I was sure bout the 5+1 but now I'm not sure. Ricki hasn't sounded like he recognised the asian player would count outside the 5. So who knows?

But the problem that might occur is that it would be hard for him to leave his current club. He's more or less Persija Jakarta's 'power house'.

I think I remember him having a good Asian Cup 2007 ( was in Thailand watching the pool there), but haven't seen him since.

If Richie's looking for a wingback/midfielder, I still reckon he could take a look at Sukha's twin brother.

If he's on a trial here then one would assume he has permission from the club. Plus Ricki or someone has said that the Indonesian FA have been very helpful in the push for their players to seek overseas clubs

Well that's the job, to sell each other.
If he sees us as a step up for him and he's good enough, fantastic. Huge grab by us.
The weather will be hard work for him,Here  below 20 deg and its cooling off, 15 deg is freezing. More so for him. But as a soccer pro if the weathers the only thing that would stop it happening, I don't want him anyway.

Yea because it has been a while since a member of Indonesian national team played abroad. The last one was Irfan bachdim, he used to play FC Utrecht. I dnt have any idea who he plays for now.
