He's short, get's up in the air well, finishes okay and speaks English pretty well.

Both TV Networks chatted with him at training today so he should make news tonight.
Did he impress you?

One finish off a Greenacre cross was excellent, headed just wide from another as well.

Toto finished a couple very nicely just inside the post.

So you wouldn't be unhappy if he was selected?

I'm all for him but I don't want him to turn out to be a lemon and then be banned from YF

As much as you can tell from a shortened training.  We'll see how he goes later in the week and on Saturday.

All trainings are open, but Thursday morning there will be media (probably).  Today the weather was immaculate, Thursday's forecast is not so pretty.

Signing Bambang means that we don't have room to move with the last few spots if later in the season a good foreigner comes up as a possibility - that is my only issue if we sign him

So are we sure that there isnt a 5 foreigners plus one asian? Because there were multiple sources with different facts?

Is Devani been and gone, thanks but no thanks?

Think Pacific Ifill was in helping out with numbers and keeping fit more than a genuine chance.

Wikipedia (I know, I know) suggests that it is indeed 5+1, but no team has all of these spots full. Cold Ghost, Glory and the Furries all have 5 non-AFC imports so if there is an AFC reservation then it's defo 5+1.

Ah - that is great news then. Sign him up.

Just remembered that is one of the reason Van Dijk is going to play for Indonesia etc.

Am doing all I can to encourage Mr. Bambang to the Phoenix so hopefully he'll accept a contract for less money since he knows how nice it will be to play for the 'Nix

Not necessarily.

It's basically a player that meets 'marquee' criteria set by the FFA and as such is not counted in the team's salary cap. But doubt that McKain was our most expensive player in season 2 (although he may have been I guess).

It's someone who's salary isn't included in the salary cap, with the idea being to bring a big name to the club without blowing out your salary cap.

A marquee player is one whose salary does not fall under the salary cap of his team. In order to be eligible for marquee status, the player needs to have some form of extra marketability, ie being a big name either internationally (Robbie Fowler) or in Australia (The wrong Aloisi). The logic is to encourage teams to sign marketable names a la Fowler without crippling them cap-wise. North is eligible because he's a Socceroo, so that allows us to free up some cap space (which may or may not be necessary depending on his salary). There's some criteria involved so it can't be just the highest paid player, though by its nature it usually is (Got Pie wasn't our highest paid and yet was marquee IIRC).

There must be a limit to the number of such player per team?

Robb your avatar made me think for a moment (just a moment) that Dan had put those words together.

One Aussie, one international, and one youth (who counts as up to $150,000 against the cap).

I hope it was only the avatar that made you think that!

Definitely that avatar. I was amazed and mesmerized by the clarity and order of the language.

Ifill was marquee last season, with McKain in season 2 and Pie Eater in Season 1.

The Ifill bit?  I hadn't heard anything about it until an article or two in the past week mentioned it and, believing everything I hear, I accepted it without question.

Find it pretty hard to believe honest - not even sure if Ifill would have met the marquee criteria when we signed him.

Since C-Diddy has cornered the Ifill-Greenache-MacAllister club sandwich, I will happily be the Pebbles for Bambam.

Seems he forgot his birthday or something.

By the way I'm sporting Indonesian colours today in support of Bambang!
