i think we have to sign one more striker, who will be foreign I assume, plus would like to still see some sort of left sided defender signed. Especially with Ricki contemplating 343. And give Lochy some competition

Against Boca, Manny threw down the gauntlet to Lochhead for that left back spot. Not sure Lochhead can pencil himself in for the start on Friday the 13th.

With a name like Bambang, he sounds like the ultimate impact sub.

Pav or Bambang (if he signs) off the bench is fantastic!

Think that the only place we lack for depth is in the middle of the park.

Diego is crap, Toto will most likely not do much better, Vinnie Lia has been off the rails for a while now and Manny is better at full back

Either way - when you compare it to the 1st/2nd season it really shows how far we've come.valeo2010-07-30 21:22:58

I'm going to put it down to google translate that one of his children's names is "Alicia's Salsa".

From what I understand he sounds like a top chap.

My typical footballer who rely more on skill and intelligence as well as possible to minimize the impact, although I will not avoid conflict if required."

Sign him Ricki!

Hmm your quick to doubt these guys. Lia wasn't exactly off the rails last season. Many games he did just as good a job in the middle. Manny got MOM votes a few times at dm as well. I do think he is better wide but hes not bad at all and was tending to get forward very well. Made some really good balls at the end of the season.
Diego won't light up the league, but he can do the job if needed. Last choice though. Browny of course is good.

You are quick to doubt toto, we will have to see how he goes. I don't think he will be doing much defending though.

You also forget North. If we get desperate then he can play a DM role. I don't think we are too bad at all

His facebook page has over 77000 likes, compared to Nelsen/Boom Boom a tad over 900, and Elliottttttt just over 100.

I appreciate that it's just facebook- but in the very least that's a sh*tload of people with some interest in the Nix if he signs.

Edit- just realised that if he signs we'll have Boom Boom and Bambang.bigtobz2010-07-31 11:38:20

I've got an auto feed on my Twitter client set up to show me any tweets including "Wellington Phoenix", and it has been SATURATED with Indonesian tweets! Looks like we could be Indonesia's favourite team in the A-League as well as NZ's should we sign him.

Nice day for him to go for a stroll around Oriental Bay.
Hope someone took his passport off him at the airport!!

As an aside, when did Indonesia become part of the Asian Federation. They were in Oceania during The All Whites road to Spain.

1982 we were in Asia/Oceania qualifying. Hence why we also had Taiwan in the first round group.

Didnt they join the 1938 world cup (as Dutch East Indies) representing asian region?

I have ties to Indonesia and would love to see Bambang included in the Phoenix. It would be amazing to have interest in our local league from far away Indonesia.

My only fear is that from what I know of the perception of the Indonesian team generally from the public point of view, that he has an ego that doesn't fit into the Phoenix "family" and culture.

I hope that this is wrong or at least that Bambang himself isn't like that.

How great would it be for 230 MILLION Indonesians to be behind the Phoenix???

Bring on the signing!

With 2 Indonesian forwards playing in the A-league (Sergio Van Dijk of Adelaide Utd) , I reckon Indonesian national team would conquer the region :D :D :D

Oh have there already been Indonesians playing in the A-League? I wasn't aware of that.

Indonesians have a general hatred of Australians so I'm sure that New Zealand would get on well with Indonesia!
