No, closer to 5 foot 8

Google confirms: 5ft 7 1/2 inches. A little shorter than me (and I'm a woman, although I was made goalie on my old team because I was the tallest...)Doloras2010-08-04 15:05:37

He is not that short. Just funny that he played as a targetman in Asia. That probably highlights the Land of Giants line.

JUST 1.72m tall? JUST??
FFS, that's the same height as me, and I don't consider myself a midget (even if my best mate is 2m tall - he's the freak)

If 2 inches is the same as 8 inches in your book, your girlfriend should prepared for disappointment.

He's been a targetman in Malaysia and Indonesia not because of people there arent tall (im indonesian but im 184 cm) It's just that he can jump as high as Nate Robinson of Boston Celtics :p

He's like 1.72 m which is like 5 feet 7.5 inches for old crusties.

And he's Indonesian, which is like Australian only a bit further north.

Is Ring security going to be an issue?

I had to be escorted in last time after a lot of calling behind the scenes.

I will have to google that - I'm not in Maori language week mode. I take it that it isn't the Ring of Dirt.

Sadly I think I will just be more upset at not living in Wellington (thinking about the move but easier said than done).

I knew nothing of this Bambang fellow but he seems really nice and having an Indonesian in the Phoenix could see 200 million new crazy fans for the 'Nix. That's the most exciting aspect for me.

Reebok can't supply stripeys now... I imagine if there's 50'000 of our closest Indonesian northern nearly but not really neighbours wanting a replica Bamtastic stripey they'll have to employ a whole new generation of... robots (what did you think I was gonna say?).

Could take them years

Remember when I was in Jakarta looking for a cheap pirated Indonesian shirt? (As an aside I am wearing it right now in support of Mr. Bambang - maybe I should keep it on until he is signed?)

I looked far and wide in shops looking for the shirt (cost about $4.60 from memory) but had a LOT of trouble finding them in stores or even street markets where you'd expect to find them. I looked in advance because I knew Nike made the original shirt and as a sponsor wouldn't have allowed fakes to be sold at the ground.

After a long hunt I managed to get one and wore it to the stadium - where hundreds of sellers were hawking off fake shirts. In fact you couldn't buy a licensed shirt at the ground.

WTF? lol

So how easy is Te Whaea to get near the pitch
Permalink Permalink
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Define near ?

Concrete paths around most of it with just a fence about 12-15 ft from the pitch.  You're not allowed on the surface but you can be as close as you are up the bank at Newtown 2.
