And don't let the door hit you as you go...

This is the view of a Phoenix fan. A season pass holder in yellow fever for the past three years.

A fan that chooses to live in Welly and support them, despite originally being from afarAnd travelled back there to follow the team on several occasions, including a final.

The heresy of which I will speak of, to neck this coach, may go against the view of some but Ill venture that if you will pull your head out of the sand for a minute to consider things rationallythis is the answer. And many more should agree.

The fact is, I can be objective in my decision making process. I have no rose-coloured glasses, trying to bathe in any reflected shimmer of getting to a first World Cup since 82 and being undefeated at a tournament which there was no hope at all of winning, let alone making the second round of

Blah, blah, bloody blah.

Simply, I want to see a team looking for results, looking to change systems which have not worked this so far and adjust to a league that has gone forward from last season. The current coaching structure does not seem to have the imagination to coach an A-League team week in week out or is able to get this team (with possibly the best squad in the comp) to its second finals appearance by looking to win football matches.  Hanging on for two weeks in a tournament takes a vastly different approach to a full league season!

Last year, the talent that is Paul Ifill was new and free but now, in his second season has been contained better by the opposition, despite his efforts each week. The other attacking options within the squad have not been encouraged and cultivated because, in my opinion, the coaching staff do not have the ability to identify it, let alone develop it.

There seems to be too much fear out on the pitch, not just now but all year as they seem too scared to deviate from the game plan even if it clearly hasnt worked. It seems any creativity has been strangled from those who have it and the axe has been wielded for expressing yourself on the park. Many of the poorer performers who have deserved the drop  and while I dont like to do it, naming players I will. Most of the All Whites players, needed to be dropped well before now.

Mark Paston, we have best keeper in the league sitting on the bench in Danny Vukovic.

Tim Brown, has been injured or not the same Tim Brown so far beyond a couple of goals. Need more from you.

Leo Bertos, seems to want be a diver now instead of the explosive and classy player he can be. Please stand up.

How the hell Simon Elliott has been left on the pitch more than 50 minutes is beyond me.

Others have been poor too but they arent All Whites.

The coach seems to use his bench as an after thought too, not as a tool to alter the course of the game at all. The guys who come on arent given time to do much, which is fine when you are winning! This is something that has to be sorted immediately. They also need to be capable changing the direction the team is going.

If Daniel has not delivered 2/5 of F all in the past three years from the bench, what makes you think that he will, this week?

Troy Hearfield, no, no, no. Not the answer on Saturday.

If Chris Greenacre cannot be coached to play football from onside, yank him for Pavlovich. How many goals have we been denied?

We need to see Nick Ward with some time.

Dont get me wrong, there are players putting effort each week  but they are either out of position, not being provided a tactical platform each week or not up to scratch at this level. Good managers need to adapt to the changing dynamics in a season of football. Unfortunately, Ricky Herbert is not able to move with the ebb and flow of the game or from season to season.

5500 for the last two weeks and people are leaving early because you arent reading the game.

Ricky its stale and its time to change. Its time to go for a win or lose trying because the fans will respect that.  We deserve better, so loosen the tie.

I expect I will be banned after this, so be it. It needed to be said and I hope enough of you will get to read it.

Chop Chop out.

P.S. Gee, Kosta is doing well.

Forums are for providing opinions so don't see why you should be banned.

Something is wrong when Kosta got very little game time here. There does seem to be a fear of putting young players on the park. How about seeing what Rojas can do?

Don't agree that we should see more of Ward, I don't think he should have been signed at all.

Sitting on the sidelines however I don't think it is really possible to view what proportion of the problem is a lack of flexibility in the game plan and how much is players not standing up.

I agree with the hearfield part.
and honestly, I don't see what is so darn terrible about Elliot?

I completely agree with many points, especially the substitution part.

Ricki just never offers any confidence with his substitutes. Its frustrating sitting in the stands when he's putting on MacCallister and taking off Greenacre. I swear he just doesn't want us to score.

Our signings this year havn't exactly strengthened the team. Clapham would have been a much better pickup imo. At least he's dynamic.
Ward can play, so he should be given time in behind the attack.

It just annoys me that the lineup this season is barely any different to last season, which would be fine, if the other teams hadnt all strengthened up with new signings.

Hmm still angsty

My shot at Elliott relates to the effort being relative to an old man having so much time away from competitive football. I would venture that a six year old may have a more powerful pass at this point and he should have been introduced from the bench while he comes to terms with this League and given more time each week.

I read/heard somewhere that Ricky was the highest qualified coach in the A-League? I laughed at this...

Let"s be honest, even with the WC to prepare for, Ricky Herbert should have understood that tactics needed to evolve for this season with Ifill getting shutdown this year.
Before now, his use of a subs bench should have been under some sort of control.
But a little boy waits...

Well this beats me.  Comments from Ricki after the CCM game.

"We had some good spells but we probably didn't take our opportunities and that's probably my biggest concern at the moment."

lol Ricki FFS you leaked three goals
0-3
1-0
1-4
0-3

= 2 goals for 10 against in the last four games

and Ricki thinks his biggest problem is his teams inability to take opportunities

that's good then, now I know why we have only one LB and no RBs in the squad
we're not worried about the defense

Basically it's the type of stuff trotted out by all managers under pressure - I've heard it a hundred times before "we didn't score our chances, if we had, we might've won!"...aye, very good Ricki...how about creating more chances and fixing the leaky defence rather than concentrating on the handful of chances we create per match.

Ifill's thoughts
Nicely saying Ricki has no idea and no solutions but luck...

Isn't it amount time our Nix got a real leader?
Ricki isn't.
When was the last time anyone saw the Nix fire up after half time. Never?
It's always the same.

I do wish Ricki wasn't a kiwi.

I run 4 businesses, do you want to look after them for me while I find one?
Hope you are qualified.
You would have to because while anyone can see the problem the solution requires professional application.
If you can give me the job and I would find a motivated skilled coach that has the Nix as a finals regular and min 12-15k crowd p/w.
That's what's needed anyway to keep the venture a float longterm.
I'm only $5,000 p/w because it's the Nix

If you read it backwards it says Paul is dead (McCartney, not the Octopus) and that Ricki should go.

Also the winning lotto numbers for next week, and why the Doom Post is such a great newspaper.

TBF AusKiwi, you have had a bee in your bonnet for well over a year about Ricki.  And most of the time you just rant, and provide no real substance.  In that time you haven't provided one name.  Just one name.  Surely it can't take that much of your precise time to identify a coach that is currently not employed to fill in.

Well excuse us master. We didn't realise we were so blessed to be honoured by your presence.
Please sir, if you could find the time in your heart since you are so great and all, can you take the time you spend on here ranting about it and go find a coach instead? Don't worry, we'll give Nath and Terry the word you are the saviour of the club to go out and find the saviour of our club. We'll even laud you 'Auskiwi for PM - he saved our club by finding a decent coach'

Those 4 businesses don't keep you that occupied so that you can post rant on here about Ricki. Finding a coach should be a piece of piss for you. Fire off a couple of emails and you'll be laughing cause its that easy. Ring up Jose and the lads, see if they've got time for a pow-wow about the plight of the Phoenix.

As someone else said, its a right dickhead of a response. Perchance is your nickname FIGJAM? You really are a twat and I hope your internet connection dies a thousand deaths.

I'm pretty sure if the Nix turned the corner won the A-league this year you'd still be harping on about the poor start to the season and that Ricki should go, vendetta much?

It really doesn't get any clearer than this.

"I don't think the players have been playing well enough to stay in the team and I include myself in that," he said. "It's been tough and it's been pretty tough for (coach) Ricki (Herbert) because he doesn't know what his best XI is because there are a lot of us who've not stepped up."
