Crowds - The thread of Australian whining

just in case you lot have mistaken my issue ass being Ticketek charging anything - le tme clarify - I'm against the flat $7.50 fee on top of every transaction, be it a $10.00 ticket or 5 $37.50 tickets. There needs to be some sense - if it was say a 10% service fee per transaction witha maximum set It would be less offensive

Are you implying that a Hurricanes ticket should have a different service fee cost to a Black Caps ticket, just because the cost to gain entry to the ground may be different, and despite the fact that from Ticketeks point of view theyre offering the exact same service for both?

This ^.

A $5 fee for the service is completely reasonable. What the Phoenix or the canes charge for their service is irrelevant

pretty much what I'm suggesting yup. I agree with tegal that what the nix/canes etc charge has got nothing to do with ticketek's service fee - my issue is primarly when a "service" fee is more than half the actual ticket price. Even at 25% of the purchase price it's stupid. If ticketek were smart they'd drop it to a minimal fee say $3 per ticket, then the people moaning about prices may come along meaning that in the long run ticketeck make more $$$$. $7.50 @ 5000 tickets is $37,500. $3 @15000 is $45,000

Haha what sponsors can you name. I wonder if they have enough space for my answer.

And why are the preferred kick-off times only presented as 7pm or 8pm when the kick-off time slot is 7:35pm? Or am I missing something?

Ticketek have calculated their service fee carefully. You need to remember that they dont just do sport, but smaller events as well. Go to their website and have a look at just the home page alone and you'll see. Lowering the service fee for events where they cater for smaller crowds and theyre losing a substantial amount of money.

Anyone else disagree with me that the median ticket transaction would be either 2 or 3 tickets?

When my Head Coach application is accepted, I won't need mere surveys to get what I want.

Not sure where else to put this but we get a bit of warning on a player public appearance!

This Wednesday between 8-9am, tune into Camille and Dave on the Classic Hits Breakfast show or head down to the Ice Skating Rink at Queens Wharf to catch some of the boys and Nixie - let's see some fire with that ice!

Was there a Mojo coffee promo today, with Greenacre and Ifill? Or did someone just interrupt them having coffee for a photo and got it retweeted by the Nix's official account ...

Was Mojos 10th birthday celebrations today.  So wondered if they got roped in ... they are wearing their nix gears.  Why am I not suprised that fans weren't told about this

I was there. The pace was packed but given the crowd size the noise was virtually nil. Definitely not a 'chant n sing' crowd, a bit of a roar on a big hit etc. Not even vaguely anywhere near the best atmosphere ever in an NZ sports event - the legendary-and-never-to-be-forgotten Bahrain game.

They had really good unity in dress-colours though - virtually everyone in the stadium was wearing black.

It was a one-off event with a completely different crowd than what the stadium usually pulls and they wouldn't be able to repeat it regularly. Great to see a new market for events there though. But comparisons with the Nix or Hurricanes crowds are pretty meaningless. That won't stop a lot of people making said comparisons though.

Just found this amusing, so in June the Armageddon Expo is on at the Stadium, oh event parking $30 right? Nope, for Armageddon the parking is $8 per day, so 8hrs parking at $1 an hour. And they wonder why people complain about the parking price on game days.

Permalink Permalink

One off games always attract crowds but watching those chokers play in front of that many at Westpac killed me a little inside.

Permalink Permalink

I know. Why don't they turn out like that to watch a bottom of the table, primary school like team that is the nix ?

Permalink Permalink

Nobody is. The 3 or 4 posts above yours explain perfectly why the warriors got 30k to their one off game and we get 8-9k per game over the course of a season. No confusion whatsoever.

Also fairly sure referring to the nix as a primary school team is borderline in terms of forum rules. Jesus wept.

anyway - a prediction for next season !

WE WILL HAVE AN AVERAGE CROWD NUMBER OF 10K !

I'm not asking why they got such a big crowd, because I know that,  I'm just saying it killed me seeing the stadium full for them when it was empty for us all season.

And for the AFL.  I feel the same.  I would like to know how many came down from Auckland.  Sounds like the warriors did 25 community events prior to the game.  Vodafone would have done a shi*tload of marketing too.

Maybe Wellington doesn't care for football anymore :( averaging 6k is not going to work.

Sooooo many people at the game had the special one-off shirt too, was great to see the warriors pull a crowd in wellington despite their poor results.

Must say the nix were no where near the first thing that came into my mind when the crowd was that big, I was just happy for the warriors.

Comparing the nix crowd at Eden Park or Christchurch would be a fairer comparison if one really needs to be made (which it doesn't). We stack up ok in that respect.
