Yeah sounds good mate! Agreed, really happy with VBase. Really open and enthusiastic about making this game a sell out. Couldn't be happier with them.

Flights booked - Accommodation booked...

Will be the first time I've ventured down to Christchurch since the earthqakes - looking foward to the trip!

Masters Grade aint no run in the park on a Saturday...

2ndBest and I did a reconnaissance mission over the weekend. We checked out the stadium (cool), the local bars (decent) and some accommodation (slightly pricey but very good).

We've struck a deal with Cargo Bar to host us on match day in November. When I say "struck a deal" I mean they said "hey why don't you come here we'll look after you" and we said "okay."

Sackofspuds has also got some irons in the fire for the local YF chapter, so we'll be hooking into the great work that he's done as well.

More details, including accom options, to follow shortly. Just want to have a chat to some airlines and see if we can sort something out.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Should be a bumper crowd as the Phoenix game is officially part of "Cup and Show Week" Nov. 8 - 16

See the official Cup and Show website. See: http://www.nzcupandshow.co.nz/

Hundreds of thousands attend these Cup and Show events. Good if you enjoy a flutter on the horses.

The Nix game is the same day the racing starts. According to the website "accommodation will be at a premium."

Game promoted on Cup and Show website: http://nzcupandshow.sinuous.net/events/wellington-phoenix-fc-vs-perth-glory/

Special offer for "some special edition Wellington Phoenix Christchurch fan t-shirts" for $8 -  "Numbers are limited and sizes are subject to availability. Pick up will be available from CBS Canterbury Arena from Tuesday 22 October."

Adult tickets start at $25, kids $10 which is pretty reasonable.

Make sure you arrange accommodation early as thousands come from outside the city for the races and A&P Show and accommodation is much more limited here these days.

Accommodation anywhere near AMI Stadium will be much sought after because all the horse races (Addington and Riccarton Raceways) and A&P Show (a five minute drive up the road at Canterbury Agricultural Park) are in the area.

Also all the bars will be packed.

I remember the All Whites v Australia friendly in 1995  was on during Cup and Show Week and 10,000 showed up at QE II (Harry Ngata's debut for NZ).

Cheaper accommodation in the area - The Jailhouse,  338 Lincoln Rd. :

http://reservations.bookhostels.com/jail.co.nz/index.php

November: $33  shared dorm; twin private: $44.50

New City Hotel, near corner Moorhouse Ave. and Colombo St - shared rooms (up to three) = $35 each

Hover mouse over "Accommodation" at top of home page for optons:  http://www.newcityhotel.co.nz/

Hi Phoenix supporters! We moved from wellington to Chch 2 years ago and were lucky enough to get tickets the last time the Phoenix came here to Chch.

Question is where will you be sitting in the Stadium in Christchurch? So we can get tickets in that area. Thanks for reply!

cheers Meg

When do tickets go on sale?

INTERNET!!!!!

Looking forward to this game.

Not too sure if I want to buy tickets yet because I don't really want to be in Row A. Though to be fair I don't think anybody will care if I'm in the isle in the Tui stands (or whatever it's called now).

Also maybe the same conditions should be added to YFZ that were added to WNZ for Nov 20. It seems pretty open at the moment.

Heard an ad on radio sport this morning promoting the game.

Yeah I've heard it a few times on ZM I think it was. Bit corny but does the job.

And some fuhfuhfashion and greyhounds thrown in for a laugh

Referring anyone looking for accomodation back to my previous post #44;: "Jail House" is a popular backpackers ten mins walk from the stadium with decent prices / "New City Hotel" isn't a huge distance away on the corner of Colombo and Moorhouse and quite cheap - also has a bar downstairs & is next to a mall with food outlets and a supermarket (South City Mall):

I have a ticket to this game as part of my season ticket but as I'm not going to the game, it seems a waste to see it not be used. It is in the fever zone. I am prepared to give it away but would rather it go to someone who is going to the game and might be able to drag a Phoenix newbie along or friend who may not have otherwise gone. I certainly don't want it sold on.
The first person who replies to this and provides their e-mail address can have it. I will then e-mail the ticket to you.

Great thanks gooner I'm sure I'll find a newbie to drag along.  To anyone else - I've got heaps of cheapskate mates who probably wouldn't pay for a ticket but would go if they don't have to pay.

This round has the potential to break all existing Hal records and folk have penciled in about 14K for you guys in Napier .. is this well over the top...

Flying Circus V Drive Bys has just been announced only 1, 000 tickets so between 34 & 42 K depending on how many Aussie members come... say 36 K

MV V Roar ... possible another 40K... this is also the Friday night FTA and its the first time between two major cities [no offence to AU]

Mariners V AU ... early afternoon game and will be hot ... 11 K

Nix V Jets ... away at Napier 14K

PG V Heart ... 15 K...

Possibly 116 + in crowds and maybe 300 + in FTA ratingsd...

Just on the ratings .. simply  sharing …

Week 1 … 243, 000 FTA Fox 115, 000 … 358, 000

Week 2 …. 218, 000 FTA Fox 97, 000…. 315, 000
Round 1 match on sbs. “In total, 495,000 viewers switched on to SBS’s coverage of the match based on five minute consecutive reach viewing.” Rd 2 figures not out yet …

Wallabies V NZ [live Sat night] on Ten … 239, 000 Ten Fox 177, 000 … 426, 000

When comparing the viewers in the various 5 cities we find:

> HAL on SBS2 has higher ratings in SYD than AFL on Ch7
> HAL on SBS2 has higher ratings in MEL, ADL & PER than NRL on Ch9
> HAL on SBS2 both Friday Night LIVE ratings above 70k in SYD; AFL on Ch7 had 0% Friday Night ratings above 70k in Syd…

Hal Matches on Fox this year have averaged 90, 400

This isn't the Napier thread.

Anyone know of accommodation places that aren't booked out and aren't backpackers where I would have to share with 5 other people.

It is crying out for the club to organize a day trip with Air NZ, fly down in the morning and fly back afterwards.
