I have asked nicely whose banner it is and who I should talk to about it.

I am not inclined to be very nice about it after the way they treated us over the clubrooms.

Our address is out of date btw

Trevar Mallard stand. Since he is going to be there, he could unofficially open it.

I suggested Mallard as a piss take after all it was he pushing for the wharf based stadium in Auckland for the 2010 rugby world cup. It never happened and he sulked. I cant stand the prick.

And with the benefit of hindsight, he was 100% correct that the waterfront stadium was the right move for Auckland.

They could have sold Eden park, moved the ball sports to the waterfront, speedway to Mt Smart (along with the current athletics track) and cricket to Springs.

Now we have a white elephant that no one wants to use, is the wrong shape and can't pay for itself, The Warriors are resisting Eden Park hard and speedway and cricket will still move.

Only if the Warriors move. At the moment they're the major threat to the whole thing going ahead

Firstly, name it the Trevor Mallard Stand and ask him to open it. My guess is he'll say yes.  Ard Choille can help with the ceremonial aspects.

Secondly, from the Hutt News about tickets for the three matches. I love these things. So all embracing....

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

You think? They will have to move don't they? If Auckland Council say they won't renew the lease at Mt Smart - what can they do?

Apparently the Warriors hold a fair bit of power in that discussion. I haven't heard the exact details just that they are the ones who would hold it up.

HN I also heard that speedway weren't fully against moving because event-wise WS is quite restricted due to the neighbouring residents. MS would be far more suitable in terms of events per year and noise/curfews etc.

Just what I'm hearing through the grapevine - not saying this is all fact.

Absolutely TL.

The restrictions they have had put on them in the last decade have destroyed it for the promoters and many of the fans who used to go week in and week out.  They even had to run one of the traditional New Year nights in Huntly FFS.

Of course they would move.

Thanks to a bunch of blow ins they have killed off the viability of a sports venue that had been there for 60 years before most of these people would have gone near Grey Lynn.  Grey Lynn was a much nicer place before them.

If the council had treated an employee like they have Speedway it would be constructive dismisal and they would get done in court for it.

3 days to go!  Forecast is for rubbish weather, but I hope it's wrong.

Nets are up, am guessing the yellow ones will be up on game day.

I took a detour to Hutt Rec after work to inspect the ground which is in magnificent condition. I spoke with one of the groundsmen, a delightful Maori chap who advised that the Phoenix will train there tomorrow at 9am.

He mentioned that the South African Rugby team had trained there and rated it as one of the best fields they had played on.

He also mentioned to me that Hyundai stepped in and had the cars on display changed from Kias to Hyundais.

Brendan Foot sell Hyundai's as well as Kia's,  I think it's because Kia NZ is owned by Hyundai NZ. So no major issue there really.

Bet the opposition will still say it's shark. ROF is immaculate most rounds yet consistently down voted in the A-League
