I wonder if Bev was in the frame, regardless you cant say that Greeny hasn't paid his dues.

A coach who knows the club and the players already at the start of his tenure will always be a better candidate.  An outsider at comparable quality would either be playing catch-up, or be very expensive.  And having a self-evident commitment to the club is a huge plus.

think she has said in previous interviews that she has no interest in managing the men, totally different kettle of fish to the women

Absolutely, but there are plenty of occurences of it being great initially, then get the gig FT and it goes belly up. As someone else said, we'll never know without trying and I think he's earned the opportunity. I think i've moved into that camp, just don't want us to lose a great coach from the club, at the end of it all.

I was hesitant to say the least but can't argue with the results, 4 wins, a draw and 2 losses since he took over.

That’s part of the skills of a manager though:

keeping things fresh for players playing the same position year in year out, particularly if the team doesn’t change a lot

keeping the team motivated on goals and knitted together

if you have success, reacting to the things the opposition do to counter your better players and plans

Greenacre will need to learn to trust his bench more. Yes, probably down to the players available this year but that City game was crying out for changes early and it took him till late to go for it in a must win game.

I just hope the overall squad improves so he can utilise the bench earlier.

I like Greenys press releases and comments.

Simple and easy to understand.
