If your in the fever zone then someone with a complimentary shouldn't be in your seat because when i sorted out mine i couldn't get them  there as it won't allow you to.

Again? What was the first shafting?

Waiting for weeks to get my season ticket and waiting in a queue a mile long at the first match to get in and being told I should have bought a season ticket (which I already had). Maybe shafted is too harsh but it is still not very impressive.

That wasn't the club's fault though, it was sheer Ticketek incompetence.

Here here Sir Les - very educated comments. I agree.

It has certainly been well publicised, i would not have expected to receive an email when it was all over the news that i had access to the galaxy tickets - a bit unecessary to send over 2000 emails to the season ticket holders. I for one feel i have been very well treated as a season ticket holder and expect nothing more than what has been offered to me. To be able to purchase 8 tickets was more than i could have dreamed of - i have been informed that rugby season ticket holders only get preference for one ticket, we have certainly done better than that.

And yes you cannot expect to get an automatic pass to the galaxy through your season ticket. This game was not on the agenda when season tickets went on sale. If it was, they would have upped the price I'm sure. The season ticket was clearly for the A-League and nothing else. As stated above, to get extra gains such as preferential purchase is only a bonus - i would have bought my season ticket without that carrot.
Well I just had a look at the Phoenix site and if it was well publicised I still can't see where. I don't expect an automatic pass but I do expect first refusal to be able to purchase my usual seat at the game. As it has turned out I take my chances with the public and I won't get the seat I have for every other game. An as much as I love this site, I still think an e mail wouldn't have been a whole lot of trouble.

Having just arrived back in the country after a holiday I see now that Phoenix have now shafted me as a season ticket holder again. Firstly the fiasco in getting a season ticket in the first place, I note that tickets have been sold to the Galaxy match without Phoenix even bothering to e mail me to offer me tickets as a season ticket holder. Now I'm back, I find I can't even book a ticket let alone get my seat that I thought I'd got for the season.
Really have to wonder what the point was of having a season ticket especially as I knew I'd miss a home game by being overseas. This is almost the last straw and when I arrive at the Adelaide game and find my seat has been given away to someone for the weekend - then that is going to be the last straw. I note people are already complaining on here they can't have my seat for that game because they will have it for the Galaxy match. Just shows the season ticket is next to worthless.

PS Maybe someone can also explain why the public get a free ticket to an A League game that I had to pay for, and even if I could get a ticket I'd only get an $18 discount.

Please leave the country again immediately.
And get your facts right before whinging.
Hope you had a nice holiday - perhaps wherever you went has a football team you can support

What facts are wrong? I've read here the sale of tickets has closed to season ticket holders and I've read that even if I could buy them then I wouldn't be able to have my seat anyway. As for the prediction about the Adelaide game, I'm just saying on the track record to date nothing would surprise me as I am aware of people turning up to find their seats double booked. Maybe you should take your own advice.

ok
A - your season seat is yours for the Adelaide game. It has been stated. Whining about what may or may not transpire down the track smacks of a grumpy cardigan wearing old man.

B - this is a separate event from what you bought your season ticket for - so just consider yourself lucky (this website is accessible from overseas by the way)

Well, if you'd visited this site at any point last week you would have seen how well it was publicised. Tony P opened a special thread outlining all the details, and I'm pretty sure that last weeks YF pandemic, which you should have received, provided a link to all this info. So if you didn't know about this, you have no-one to blame but yourself (unless you were trapped in a cave for a week, but I can't recall any news stories about that lately).
As far as your regular seat goes, all you had to do was be quick and book your usual seat - I got mine, and know quite a few others who also got theirs.

Brought 2 season tickets, best investment I have made for along time - don't care what seat they give me, just being there is tops- SEASON TICKET NEXT TO WORTHLESS - post it to me ZEPHYR if you don't really want it.

I do want it - just being there is the point, but looks like I won't be there and that is what I thought the season ticket would allow. I never had an issue with paying more. Now you're all happy because you got tickets, I'm making the point that as a season ticket holder I missed out, and understandably I'm disappointed. Sure I might pick one up in the public offer, but it won't be the seat I have at the other games and I think I should have had the option to have that seat.

The big news item scrolls through the news. One of those is the announcement about ticket sales.

If you happen to take a long blink and not wait for it to loop back around, there is also the permanent display link:

Both of these take you to the information page:

I can't see how anyone can miss these.

All we can say is next time don't ignore the pre-sale to which you were entitled to participate.

Because season ticket holders were entitled to buy 8 tickets per membership, many people are not in their usual seats for the Galaxy game. The only way to prevent that was for us not to be allowed to buy extra seats. Being in a slightly different seat is no big deal.

You will almost certainly get one in the public sale unless you ignore the publicity about the sales date and leave it late. I think you will also get your season ticket discount too.

sorry, but expecting the club to give you a personal phonecall at a beach in Thailand is probably asking a bit much even for the Phoenix

Did you check your emails? It's just that you also complained that the Nix didn't email you.

To be honest, I can't see what the club could have done that would have helped you. Your holiday timing was unfortunate - but that hardly constitutes the club shafting you as you stated.

I didn't get an e mail but nothing I can do about this now as the offer has closed to season ticket holders.

I might have known the Government was behind it, but if an e mail was intended to be sent then that answers that. I'll have to figure out how to get Phoenix e mails from now on though.

Ok I'll put it down to jet lag on my part but I will remain convinced you should be offered first refusal on your own seat. I'll watch the game on TV and go to the Adelaide game.

you were given first refusal, unfortunately you were out of the country. Its YOUR fault for taking a holiday during the football season. what sort of supporter does that????

maybe next year if I am out of the country Ticketek will delay selling the sevens tickets til I get back....

I agree that we should have first right of refusal on our season seat (during the first week of sales only open to season members).

But I'm in the yellow fever zone for the match anyway so I'm happy.

and we did, so your point is slightly irrelevant. first 3 days only season ticket holders can buy tickets.

You're missing my point. I was not able to buy my season seat as someone else had purchased it. I had to buy another seat.

as an aside, did you plan to buy a ticket for just your seat for the beckham game, or you and others?? obviously, if everyone wanted to buy their seat and 2 or 3 others, then someone will unfortunately miss out.

I just checked my deleted items history. The email I got came from Ticketek rather than the Phoenix. I don't think the spam legislation has anything to do with this - I've just never given my email address to the Phoenix.

We were offered first refusal on tickets. You missed it. As regards the specific seat, the Phoenix weighed up the options: allow members to buy 8 tickets or allow members to only buy 1 ticket each. The former was considered more beneficial because being in row AA instead of row AB is insignificant.

Why merely watch it on television? You can still buy tickets if you want. Just make sure you get in early when they go on sale again. That's what everyone except season ticket holders will do - given that you missed the season ticket sale, why would you do anything different?

I purchased tickets for me and other season members who I sit with in the YF zone. I think that YF zone season members should have had preference over those without season passes to sit in the YF zone.

Of course, with ticketek in charge I'm not sure they would have been able to implement my ideal state.

Given the choice between buying extra tickets or having your own seat, what would you prefer? Most people seem to prefer the former - but I didn't care either way.

Alternatively, I guess they could have done this:
1) x days of pre-sales where members can only buy their own seats.
2) x days where members can buy up to an additional 7 seats each of what remains
3) general sale to the public

Anyone who wants to sit with non-season ticket holding friends would have to wait until phase 2 to buy any tickets - which would no doubt generate complaints!

Assuming this approach was used, the problem then comes down to systems. Ticketek would need to somehow control that you are not quoting someone else's season ticket details during phase 1 (imagine if you were guaranteed your exact seat and Ticketek didn't check that the purchaser was the seat holder) and also have loaded all season ticket allocation details against the Galaxy event (to know the seat).

Given how much of a mess Ticketek made of season ticket sales, would you want to make them implement something more complex than what they did -  merely referenced a list of valid member numbers?

I think the Phoenix got it right. No-one got shafted - despite melodramatic claims to the contrary - and we're all around the place we want to be.

Yes, I made the ticketek point above.

I ended up with decent seats in the YF zone anyway, but I would have been disappointed had I missed out. I'll go stand in my normal spot anyway.

Permalink Permalink

To be honest, I don't have a normal spot. I've yet to stand in the same spot more than once. I have moved from my allocated spot shortly before kick-off every time to go be nearer vocal people and further away from the bottom end of Aisle 21. I have moved a couple of times when seat owners turned up and found me in their allocated spot - fair enough and I moved willingly for them.

Fairplay.

I'm sure the 'new' people in the YF zone will get used to how things are quick enough.

There seems to have been heaps of comments around season pass holders missing out on their season pass ticketed seat.  I guess this was always going to happen anyways, as the Galaxy game is an extra just like the games that the phoenix will play in the finals (fingers crossed). I am sure this was mentioned on the wellington phoenix page (membership brochure) as well as ticketek. I am not a season pass holder as I had already pre paid for a couple of games early and I will also miss the game on the 21st as I am in Aussie. So didn't want to pay that much late in the season. I can see where you are coming from Zepher and it is unfortunate that you were on holiday, but I am sure you can still sit in your original seat for the Adelaide game. Its not really the clubs fault, most of the inconsistencies and problems have been with ticketek. Thats just the way it goes.  I must admit I had posted on the forum to see if a nice season pass holder would get me 2 tickets, but now I am not that worried as I will try and get them on the Visa pre sale.  I will be in Aussie at the time but will definitely be on the net. Its basically first in first serve really.   I am grateful for whereever I sit and love joining in the chants even if I am not in the Yellow Fever zone. I even get my face painted, its such an enjoyable experience. Hope we have a great game tonight. :) GO THE PHOENIX
