I was probably being a bit unkind and of course you are right. In fact from the start we had, I would say that 6th would be a very disappointing absolute minimum out of the season.

What was the team's goal from the start of the season if they ever set one?

Plus last years run came riding on the coat tails of one Marco Badass coming in about the same time.

Who knows maybe Pav will come right?

What's he made of?

Yeah but Sunday was a one-off, an aberration, a wake-up call, a reality check, a timely warning against complacency in the run-in.

All this talk about our away form is a bunch of negative, self-reinforcing bullsh*t as well. If we take anything away from Sunday it's that we can lose anywhere but we can win anywhere as well.

This has been a season of surprises already and I believe the boys are going to surprise us all again with a few handy away wins over the next 11 games.

QUOTE]

Totally agree on that! Sure 6th is better than 8th or 9th but to be happy at getting 6th in a 10 team comp is such a let down.

Piney reckons 40 points is what you prob need to get a 4th place and lots of home semi action.

So we would need 19 points.....5 wins and 4 draws in 11 games. When you look at our schedule we have 4 home games that include CCM, Roar and Heart.....all currently top 3 on the table.

Away games include CCM, Heart, Victory and Sydney.

Considering our away form and our erratic home form then 6th might be our best hope. You could hope that we have a stellar run like we did 09/10 with Ifill tearing the league up again but I would not bet my house on it. I guess we will know how its all going to pan out on Sunday.....lose against bottom placed GC and its tough to see how we can salvage much from the rest of the season.

Backed up by years of ratsh*t away results though

Thats actually quite a tough run considering CCM x2, Heart x 2, Roar, Victory and Bling. Be nicer if we had Perth, GCU, Jets, Adelaide I guess... Mind you we have just lost to Perth and Adelaide so...

As much as it pains me (and it does) to say it, who really cares if we make the playoffs or not?

The more important question in my mind is whether we can actually win any of our games in Australia, and whether we can do so with any conviction, because 6th is frankly as good as 8th or 9th given our unlikely chance of progressing further from that rank.

We've made the play-offs before, and that shouldn't be the goal any longer for this team. They are more than capable of finishing in the top 6. The question now is how far they can go in the play-offs, which essentially means they either have to get a top 4 position, or start to learn how to win at least some games on the road.

Kind of agree Ahmad, but 6th and making playoffs for 3rd year is a hell of a lot better than getting 8th or 9th, especially given pre season shennanigans. Even if we do get the arse in round 1.

I think making the 6 wiould be a fantastic result all things considered

It would be great if we can make the playoffs again for the 3rd straight year. If Victory and GCU don't make it and we do, this season, then we will be the only team to have made the past 3 playoffs. Which would be something nice to say.

Victory and Adelaide play the catch-up games at the end of the month, so they can still move ahead of us if we don't get wins

Hmm good point, I'm just a fan of other teams posting a little points on the table as possible!
If we can string together the next couple of wins, it'd be awesome to see us 2nd....ahh sweet sweet dreams.

these 2 away games are so key for us, will be the difference between possible home playoff(s) or just scrapping it out for 6th

How come Perth's 18 points are above Adelaide's 19? Something is wrong there.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
