...except for Tards games that is... where we want the Tards to be ahead and cruising, and then collapse in the last ten minutes and concede and equaliser deep into injury time. Every week.

It's just too funny.

"It's now a skill."

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

If I understand things correctly there is no difference for us, in terms of the play-offs, between finishing 1st or 2nd. I think first automatically qualifies for the ACL - this is not relevant to us. I guess finishing 1st you also get bragging rights and a trophy (?) and prize money (?) but you still end up playing 2nd home and away for direct entry in to the final and you also get a second life if you lose the home and away series.

And you get to host the Grand Final, unless your ground is not considered large enough.

For us to pass CCM would be huge, but as said the more important and more realistic concern is to secure second.

Does the league winner get to host the grand final even if they lose the home and away to the 2nd placed team?

Winner of the home & away playoff, gets to host the grand final. I am pretty sure whoever finishes 1st decides who gets to host the first game in the home & away playoff.

Yeah as far as I know deciding the order of the home and away playoff would be the only benefit of coming first.

Finishing first:

Premiers Plate
Automatic entry to ACL
Get to choose order of GF play-off games
Not likely to happen

Anything we've missed?

If the Meow lose to the Salty Dogs tonight then 2nd place remains out irrespective of the result at RoF next week. A draw and Meow would edge ahead of us if they win next week (on goal difference). Win and next week becomes a fight for 2nd.

After 20 games...

07/08 - DLLWDWLLLLWLDDLWDWLL - 20 pts - L - 20 pts (21 games)
08/09 - DLLDLWDWLLWWWLDWLWLD - 26 pts - L - 26 pts (21 games)
09/10 - LWDLDDDDDDWLWDWLDLDW - 25 pts - WWLLWWW - 40 pts (27 games)
10/11 - DWLLWDLWLDLLWLLWDLWL - 22 pts - WDWLWLWWLW - 41 pts (30 games)
11/12 - DWLLLDDWLWWLWLWLWWWW - 33 pts

Wow, look at how we are tracking against 09/10 when 40 pts got us to 4th.

We had a great run-in back then though, and a tough run-in this time. Regardless, a top 4 finish (at least 40 pts) has to be the minimum acceptable outcome now. Simply collecting the rest of the points available at home (9) should do it.

If we were to emulate 09/10's run-in from here and get 15 points from the last 7 games that would see us finish on 48 pts which would almost certainly mean 2nd.
