Where are all the people who shot me down for being "negative" when we were 2nd in the table?

Thanks LF1. That used-to-be sexy table is getting the big squeeze around its middle and we're right in the squeeze zone.
Fired up for this game, really starting to feel like we're at the business end of the season now...whew!

So it might have been mentioned last night but regardless of what happens for the rest of the season we will finish ahead of Melbourne Victory

I said this last week as well, but 3 points today would be HUGE.

Piney just said: We're on 39 points, 8 ahead of 7th placed Sydney. It'd be a catastrophe for us to miss finals football.

If/when we do, we'll become the only team to have made the three consecutive finals series.

Huge huge 3 weeks for the club. We will need at least a win and a draw to get 4th IMO.
Perth have Mariners (H) GC (A) and victory (H)........they could win all of those games and finish on 46 points and probably 3rd. We are on 39 points so we would need at least 7 points to match their 46......so 2 wins and a draw. Win all three and we can't be knocked out of 3rd. It will be so so tight. Losing is NOT an option

Playing like we did today, the outcome is more likely to be that we lose all three.

6 pts from the last two games I'd say.  CCM will have secured 1st place and concentrating on the ACL.

Far from it, CCM have to fly to China then on to Perth this week. Brisbane are at home midweek and home against Adelaide on the weekend. The could possibly tied for first come this time next Sunday.

Victory vs Sydney draw will mean Victory have no playoff hopes against us and Sydney wouldn't be able to catch us.
Permalink Permalink
about 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
For me the next 3 games are essentailly playoff mentality games.

We are playing teams we are likely to play in the finals at some point (bar Victory, but they have had the better of us in both games so far...

So, this next three weeks will be telling indeed.

Have no expectations for the finals, honestly. I think 3rd is a bit flattering (but that doesn't lesson the achievement at all; in fact it heightens it - we've done a lot with a limited squad)

It's going to be very interesting next 3 weeks. If we are good enough, and with a bit of luck, we could get into the top 2. But then again, I wouldn't put it past us to lose 3 on the trot and finish 6th.

Heart move into 6th spot.  Jets into 5th. Dam you Jets.  Wanted GCU to over take Adelaide to avoid the wooden spoon.

Heart will be that much more difficult tonight.

Jets go to fifth 1 point ahead of Melbourne Heart.Just a little more incentive for Heart to make an extra effort tonight v Phoenix and move back up away from the 6th spot.

The only way we could miss out is to lose all three while sydney win all 3 (Sydney would also need to overturn a 13 goal diff relative to us), plus other results going against us.
