I agree with this. How Perth are top is a bit odd to me. Like 2nd Best, I think Victory and Adelaide will finish top 2 and the 3-5 positions are us, Perth and Sydney. I had us a 3rd preseason and think that if it was Perth 3rd, us, then Sydney, that would reflect how I am feeling based on whats happening. I think Perth are a good for 3rd but don't see Sydney as better than us.

Might depend on how their injury replacements are like.

Apples and oranges, but we were hitting a purple patch last season before injuries/int duties etc forced us to rotate our back line like a rapid rotating thing.  Our form reflected that.

This season we should have more cover but I think we are still vulnerable to a couple of injuries halting our progress.

Burns for example.

We definitely have more cover in all positions apart from the fullback positions. Burns would be a loss, but we know Cunningham has goals in him, and Boyd seems poised to have a breakthrough.

Permalink Permalink

Yeah, I feel like Boyd and Kenny could step into Burns place and Krishna would pick up the goal scoring slack. There are options there, anyway. We're very vunerable to injuries at the back though.

Interesting that Ernie admits that Roy's attention seems to drift occasionally. Maybe that's what's held him back for so long.

Amazing how good we were in 12/13 up until this point where it goes pear shaped. I'd forgotten about that. It's pretty much the inverse of season 13/14.

Was this about the time we decided to implement a mid season style change?

There is a real chance we will go fourth this weekend.

We are one point behind Bling, who are away to the Tards, while we play CCM at Eden Park.

Much excitement.

And if we do win on Saturday we will be six points ahead of our previous best after 10 rounds! COYN

Well, it took a while to bear fruit, but aren't we glad we did it then.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Yeah, he wanted us to 'transition' towards 'total football'.

Permalink Permalink

To be fair to Gareth, I think we have now (at least lagely) completed the implementation of a new style.

We are now committed to a short passing attacking based style, and we are the league's second top scorers at the moment.

If we win tomorrow we will be 6 points ahead of where we have ever been after 10 rounds in previous seasons, and there is a good chance we might over take Sydney FC and take 4th place on the table.

If we can keep this up I really think it is the best way to build crowds...

I think if you sit back and think about it Gareth might have been right?

I thought it was to give every player a snapper card and then adopt a  "tap and go" approach.

The winners from this round are Perth creating a gap at the top and Roar making up ground on the top 5.
