Losing Simon is probably a net gain for the Mariners ATM. But they're also without O'Neil.

How are those two British teenagers that they signed on loan going?

Early days for them but from what I've seen they are nothing special. Karacan hasn't really clicked yet either. Simon may be a massive idiot be he is a big loss for them.

I would be extremely disappointed and surprised if we weren't able to beat them with relative comfort. Although having said that the only games we have won comfortably this season were a previous 2-0 win over CCM and the 4-1 over Roar - and even that one's arguable since if Taggart hadn't tripped over his own feet instead of tapping in for them to lead 2-1 the result might have ended up different.

Although not a "comfortable" win, our sole win over Sydney FC this season stands out in my mind as an easier win that that over CCM, in hindsight of course.

CCMs loss to Brisbane was the first time this year they've lost by more than one goal, pretty much nobody has been getting easy wins against them and of course Sydney only drew.

You're joking right? They've been beaten by three goals by Adelaide (twice including the FFA cup), Perth, Victory and Sydney. We beat them by two, and so have the Wanderers (twice). I can't believe there are still people aboard the CCM aren't actually that bad train.

Í was meaning in 2019, but actually I've just fact checked that and I was way wrong!

Wanderers beat them 2-0 a few weeks ago and Sydney smashed them on 4 January. Actually, of their 10 games in 2019, they've lost 3 games by more than 1, with a win & 2 draws, and 4 games lost by 1.

Yeah sorry you did say this year, but same results as you mention.

The thing is, with just 7 points from a possible 60, CCM are basically the easiest 3 points any team could expect to win at this point in the season - or possibly in any season. We should be pumped and ready to smash them, rather than cautious.

Just let CCM score first and we are sure fire winners

I remember we were talking like this before our last game v CCM and then they were 2-0 up, though - to be fair, there was the Nichols factor.. (though I don't think we can blame that terrible half all on him, and we're missing Rufer again)

I really want to see us go for it and play Sheridan with Singh deeper.

With Rufer out. Wonder if we will get to see Mandi and Kopa together in mid field. Haven't had that combination there yet.

With Golec to LCB.

The extra week will hopefully give Greenacre enough time to to test the possible combinations, and give Rudan some time to go and see his family for a few days (if he did not in fact stay over there after the last game).

Adelaide probably have the hardest draw left, tho they face the 'big' teams at home so that helps their chances. The next 3 games are vital, need at least 6 points out of the 9 available.

"could"... I suppose, in terms of probability that is true, but a very low chance.

Not MC.  Maybe CCM, but we have not been down two nil to Citeh at halftime this year.

that one really is season defining stuff. I never like the term "six pointer", but it's hard to argue that it's not

That penalty miss from Krishna... we would be on 30 and Jets on 25.

Huge game, regardless of results between now and then. Really hope we chalk up a win or two before then.

Missing a penalty is worse than losing a game, IMHO.

Could you please explain what you mean by "Home". Is it the wop wops of NSW, the Industrial delights of Auckland or the Ring of Fire?

Meh, we had a lot of hard games the last five round and have the same or better points hall to 3, 4, and 5 over that time. Jets are the form team in the comp but we don't need to outscore them, we just need to outscore the teams ahead of us. We've got an easier run of games home than most of them and a game in hand.

City look better with Maclaren but they still feel like they're on the verge of implosion. Adelaide looks very beatable, they have no healthy defenders.
