so little marco is gone, as a team the nix need to move on and shut him down when we play - if he makes the starting lineup - I hope he survives the second season well, cos he will be marked heavily by all teams. Looking forward to seeing how he copes with manny knocking him about and how he deals with being booed everytime he touches the ball.theprof2011-03-01 14:49:04

What's a pikachu?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

While we will miss Marco, its probabaly the best for him. The Phoenix are going to continue to have this problem until.
Terry gets his finances sorted. Why would you stay with a club with this constantly hanging over your head.]The Phoenix need a team playing in the NZF leaque so that up and coming and injured players recovering can actually have game time. How many games did Marco get last year? The Phoenix need to tie players into longer contracts. You end up with a risk you are carrying players, but also get to keep the good ones (or sell for a profit).I will still be shouting for Marco and wishing him well. I hope the Yellow Fever don't give him a toohard reception. He still has given lots of NZkids something to aim for.
You are kidding right?

Kinda already do with ASB Challenge. Only 8 games though, could do with at least twice as much as that.

Why can't the club have a professional team, as well as a semi-pro team?

Or is it the club that's deemed to be 'professional'?

God I hope this is better for him than being in the Nix, I suppose if he chooses to compete with Hernandez in CAM role, then he really has a task ahead of him.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

So TVNZ...

Doesn't do humour...
An image of football hooligans burning cars with a caption that says "these are the scenes outside the Backbencher next time Rojas comes to town with his new teammates..." is one of the more extreme posts

Can't count or doesn't understand the word majority...
As of today, over 700 messages had been posted on the 'Marco - Embarrassing Angst Thread' with the majority slamming the star 19-year-old for his supposed disloyalty.

And doesn't care about the integrity of attributing quotes to the correct person...
"If he does this to the Phoenix he obviously does not care about playing for NZ - he can bugger off to Chile for all I care," wrote Threak.

I remember reading a rumour about Hernandez going to the MLS, perhaps on the highly reliable Australian 442 forums . If fattie is leaving perhaps Rojas will slot right in?

Actually, I have very close personal ties to the phoenix which is why I am being very careful in what I say. I have heard both sides of the story and have only jumped into this discussion because too many people are shooting their mouths off without knowing the facts. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but too many people are adding emotion to it and blowing it out of proportion. I know how Marco is feeling having moved from Wanderers to Melville when I was 21. I got absolutely slauthered for joining our bitter rivals, although I moved to a higher division and Marco's situation is a little bit different as it is a professional environment.

There were many good points raised in the last day or two. One was that we don't have the coaches to take players to the next level. Think I have heard this years ago. One of the problems then was that very few juniors (10-15) were getting any decent coaching. Most of the people taking club sides were parents of players. Most knew nothing about football, but at least they did what they could. There were very few ex players putting anything back into the game.Is this still a problem?
Some 20 years ago a 12 year old team came to NZ from Blackpool and played a same age side at Blockhouse Bay. The locals were too strong and much better. Can't rememder the score. Talking to the coach after the game and he said that any player that looked the goods at 15 would have top notch coaching. He was right, as in 2004 I watched an under 15 game in Newcastle and they were far better than any 15 year olds I had seen in NZ
This coaching thing is in my opinion relevent to Marco.
He wants to play central mid-field. I believe at 19, with his experience he won't be nearly good or strong enough yet.

Soley, Marco should be flattered that enough people even care about what he does that it generates over 800 posts in 2 days (even if a minority of comments are completely stupid).

Don't forget that these are the same people who buy the tickets and Sky TV subscriptions that allow him to do what he does for a living in the first place.

If Marco doesn't like it he doesn't have to look at at Facebook or Yellow Fever or whatever. But if he does then I hope that what he takes away from it is that at the age of 19, and after only 21 games, people actually really give a sh*t that he might leave. That's actually f**king awesome.

LOVE  you Marco (until you officially leave then you sux big time Judas!).
