Ooh, there's a list. Could you add tweaking the Active Topics page to make it more like this to the list?

Heh, you'll need to be more specific.... lots of requests for Active Topics to be X or Y, still not 100% what people actually want...

It just seems to be on the active topics page. On the forum pages it shows them.

Ah, that makes sense, I can fix that now... hold tight.

Fixed for you now.

I guess if you make it exactly like the old site, people won't complain. You would set an amount of time you wanted to see posts from, and it would only display threads that had new posts in that amount of time (e.g. one hour, four hours, 24 hours etc). It grouped them into the boards, so all of the Phoenix threads would be above all of the UK football threads etc. It meant it was easier to navigate the threads, and put the most visited threads (the Nix ones) right at the top.
You can see a snapshot of what it was like on the archived version of this site I posted above. Does anyone disagree with a system like this for the new Active Topics board?

Holy fuck! There's the old forum!

You can see how the old search engine was set up there also Mr Wellnik.

I'm going to keep a close eye on things this evening, but if you guys could let me know the times if it ever seems a little .... sluggish :D

It's only sluggish because I can't decide which topic to brouse thru next

Badger?

Badger: A medium sized furry mammal that digs holes in the ground and carries Tb.  Can sometime be found with a water rat, a mole and a toad.  Hates stoats and weasels.  Sometimes mistaken for a skunk.

Skunk: A smelly American mammal.  Best avoided.

I don't know if it's been raised before but the checkbox to open hyperlink in a new window didn't work for me.

Edit: Though I could pretty much care less as Ctrl+Shift+Click opens new tab

Despite the evidence saying otherwise, I'm going to stick with my guns and say it's a skunk.

wellnik: a new issue I noticed just now. In the A-League Tipping thread I don't have the option to edit my older posts, but have the 'edit' button available on posts by Oi Oi Edgecumbe & Stevo. When I click them, it won't let me edit them tho. My newest post on the thread, I have the edit button, and it does give me the ability to edit.

Patrick is wanting something like this - http://imageshack.us/a/img339/5758/61221631.jpg  The old forum's had the drop down menu to limit the time frame of the posts shown.

I don't know if its possible, but this is what I would like to see - http://imageshack.us/a/img594/5288/47985699.jpg  I'm not sure about the other forumites, but I normally just check for new posts and I think something like that would make it easier.

Hopefully the mock ups help show what I am trying to say.

Great job RR, the first one is exactly what I was hoping for. Having both would be excellent, but if it's too much work then I would be happy with what you have suggested RR. Either way, it will be better than lumping all of the topics in together which is what happens now.

Not really anything to do with Welnik. But I'm finding too many stickied posts to be annoying. The above suggestions by Patrick and RR will help this I guess. But at the same time, some stickied topics seem very unneccesary (e.g the league and union threads as well as perhaps news item punnery).

Yeah, that's why I mean that Patrick and RRs suggestions would make it ok again. But for now, it's a little annoying

Thinking about it this evening, your idea would be very close to the old style forums, so I think would be appreciated by most here. Maybe could add the page numbers in and 'mark all read' function in the drop down box.

But not knowing the coding side of things, I don't have a clue if its possible.

My thoughts were to try and emulate the old forums as much as possible. The general opinion here was that the functionality of them was great, so basing the new system on Pancake's one seems right to me.

Not strictly forum related, but is the YF home page showing up with broken formatting for anyone else today?

All I see is the first news item about Reid, then the rest of the news items are gone, and the Ryos image etc from the footer appear in the wrong place.

Going to the /news page and all the news items appear there

Not that I know much about such IT things, but why does this forum not use vBulletin?  This seems to work well on other forums I use.  Appreciate it could be due to cost or whatever, I genuinely don't know.

:(

Welnik.  If you weren't already aware Steve-O is our resident miserable git (and we wouldn't want him any other way).  Even more so than Ballane who is mostly just plain angry.

BTW - this forum is sh!t and the old one was better. YF "exec" - you are a feckin disgrace.

(as you can see I couldn't be @rsed emailing my insult into the podcast)

It was a joke, followed by a genuine question, but you've managed to turn it into me being a miserable git, even though my post wasn't miserable at all??  Well done.

Well in that case I apologise unreservedly to Steve-O and hope he gets better soon.

However while I may have "turned" Mr O, at least I'm not an Ernie stalker and in his bad books (unlike some who might get red paint thrown at them).

Ha, what is your twitter handle?

Another little problem, I no longer seem to be able to edit older posts. Not sure on the timeframe, but I can edit posts I have just made, but older posts I cannot.

I just lurk.  I saw George Kostanza posted Ernie's account and had a browse.

Sort of starting to see the point of these twitters especially with tweets from games (as in the pre-season matches).
