Nix Transfer Speculation 2019-20

Nile Ranger.

If anyone took a cursory glance at his stats alone it’s roughly 150 games for 20 goals. Combine that with jail time. That’s a departure from what Ufudge has done thus far and should be easily seen through.

He would struggle to get a gig as a boot boy let alone HAL

Hopefully the Nile ranger chat is bullshark. A guy that tattoos the inside of their lip and then their own name on their face is obviously a cod. Nothing but a bad apple. There's literally a billion better footballers than him. Just no.

Also, can't see him fitting uffies ideals.

No way we'd reject someone like Tommy Semmy to get Nile Ranger

Come on Royz - we did get one Jurman -- Steinmann. :)

Jurman would have been good! but no we get what's his face instead. Ball is a bum and Piscopo is injured. I cant see Steinmann carring the squad :(

So after two missed pens in pre-season Ball is a bum? I'm not saying I'll guarantee he will be successful but there's no reasonable way you can write him off already. He was surrounded by kids who haven't played much pro football and it showed, in that first half he had to do a lot of the work on his own before Devlin/McCowatt/Waine found their feet in the second half. At least hold off judgement on him until you've seen him play with Steinmann, Davila and the final import. You've seen him play one game with probably only half of the guys who will be starters in round one. As for Piscopo, he passed his medical. If he is indeed injured it won't be a long term one, and the season is still 6 or 7 weeks away. He'll be fine for the season and there's a reason he is highly rated in Australia, he's got so much potential. You say you can't see steinmann carrying the squad, but I'd bet good money you haven't seen him play a single game. I haven't either, but thats why I'm not making ridiculous statements based off jack shark

If we sign Nile Ranger and he has his head in line and stays disciplined he will absolutely tear up the A-league. A seriously talented player that for many obvious reasons has not reached his true potential.

Although probably not our most glamorous squad, I think Uffies set up a quite a balanced squad where there'll be lots of competition for playing time. I like what I saw from Ball, he seemed like a real workhorse, and if things start to click for him and he builds some confidence he could be very dangerous. If Davila stays fit, and we get the last piece of the puzzle right we could surprise ourselves again this season.

He could be our version of Kerem Bulut

Probably in jail again. As I said previously, the twitter account that linked us is a troll account + do you honestly think he would get a work permit if we were daft enough to give him a chance?

Nothing wrong with a young player backing his ability. Luckily for him, he could fall back on his Aussie citizenship to get a deal somewhere else.

This means there are now 19 players contracted on senior deals who are NZ eligible in the A-League this season.

Nope, all we know is that we have a visa striker incoming but there are no concrete details about who/where they are from.

Whilst I agree there's no issue with that, he wasn't even one of the better performing players in that team.  It was one goal that I presume he was trying to live off.  As I said, I don't blame him, he clearly got bad advice. He should have signed on with the nix another year or two and then tried. It's a shame for him, that's all.

But you could also say he might get more game time at CCM right now he'd be 5th in the pecking order at CB and at least 4th at DM

Fair, but most of our CB/CDM signings were made after he left. Would imagine that Devlin or one of the Handy Prem guys wouldn't have been signed if he took up the offer put in front of him.

Still, congratulations to him. I must say, CCM's squad is looking SO much better than last season. Just need some of their promising youth players to kick on, and kick out Matt Simon!

Either Payne or TAHW would have missed out if Stensness stayed. They are better players and he still got the 1 year deal that he would have got here, so it's win/win for all parties involved.

Stensness played well and coolly slotted away a pen in CCM FFA Cup win over Roar, I think he will be a regular for Mariners.

Why? We've put faith in younger players than him with good results. We offered him a deal as well which he turned down, so clearly we also felt there is a bit of talent there.

Don't think we were gonna have him as a "regular". I also don't think he's particularly good and was glad we didn't re-sign him, so there's that...

So from the comments above I get it that he would be a second or third choice for us if signed, but will be a starter for CCM.  I also get it that CCM played well enough to beat Brisbane Roar in the FFA Cup.  From that twisted logic it follows that we should do better than Roar or CCM this season!

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I thought given his age, status in squad and positions he covers he was more than adequate. I'm pretty meh if stayed or went, though I think he will have an ok HAL career.

Thought he played pretty well in that DM role at the U20WC. But both Pinajker and Stanger in the CB role behind him and Bell beside him were very solid and the pick of the defensive players for me they look to have more potential.

But glad Stensness has picked up a pro contract. Good to have more NZers in the HAL. He's still young and could do very well with regular game time like all the youngsters from that U20 team.
