Where's that forecast from?

Says wind rain and Phoenix here

Metservice has now updated Sunday to Wind, Rain and the Phoenix now also.

Fucken weather.  Why are you not kind to us?  Hopefully it's WRONG.

Victoria Uni Weather is generally a lot more accurate than metservice or any other forecast we've observed, particularly with long range forecasts.

Crud.  There goes a decent crowd.  Does this mean they will make a call on the curtain raiser game moving to another ground sooner rather than later?

I can't answer that right now with any certainty but the main reason the Canterbury/TW game was weather dependent was because of the cricket/football change-over and the possibility of poor weather disrupting that.

Has this weekend's game been advertised as 'weather dependent'?

Fuck this stupid game

I haven't seen any ads for the curtain raiser game yet.  I assumed all these matches had to abide by the same rules.  Good if in this case it won't.

They need to offer an extra incentive to arrive early, I can't see a lot of people coming to the stadium if the weather is poor.

I wonder how Ricki can get the "attacking" best out of an 'aging' Ifill ?

despite the crap deal we seem to have signed with the Met Service this season, a good win this wknd might lead to a good turn out for the other 2 pre-xmas matches

CMON U NIX!!!

Tigers I think thats really the best question I have seen asked and I think we will find out what kind of coach Ricki is. He has a talent in Ifill that has given us a shop window of what he can do. While he is aging and not at the same level we have seen (people can debate if thats fitness/injury/form) how does he get the best out of him to help the Phoenix? I can tell you I haven't a clue what the best scenario is.

I would also not underestimate that the rest of the league have seen him enough now to be guarded against the cut back so thus eliminating his main trick on the ball.

For the Phoenix to be successful, how do we get the best out of Ifill? Is that really the position we are in?

I thought this in his first season for us. But still no one can combat it. There's a reason for that - he cuts back and can shoot, or he can cut again and take it outside them to shoot or cross - and he does both equally as often so the defender really has no chance, he has to guess. Ifill even sometimes will cut back, then change direction to go wide, then cut back in again, just to royally bamboozle them. He's not quick, it's just his perfect timing which allows him to do it, he changes direction at the exact moment the defender has his feet off the ground so is delayed a millisecond.
It's very clever and hardly anyone can do it. It also looks predictable on telly, but still no one can deal with it. Defenders can prepare and watch all the tape they want, but they still won't know which way he's gonna go. And they can't hang back off him for a metre because then he'll pick a beauty of a pass and get himself an assist instead.
Although obviously at different levels, it reminds me a lot of the way Luis Suarez turns the defender. But without the c*nt factor.

[/quote] I think I was the only one to put TW v CB was weather dependant as I was going to have to sort volunteers at DF park if it eventuated.  The game was never officially advertised as weather dependant.

If I was picking the team this week, it would be:

                        Paston

Bertos    Sigmund   Durante   Lochead

Ifill           Smith    Muscat       Fenton

           Huysegems   Brockie

I'd like to have us to have two up front, at home particularly, rather than having three 'up front' where two of them basically play as wide midfielders. I would like to see Ifill up front at some point soon though... That's gone well for us in the past.

It's the 'two reds against the Jets' Gillett, rather than the blind Gillett. Tho they are sometimes as bad as each other.

Record under this Gillett, 1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses.

Time to go for 3 points and 4-3-3 at home:

                Lia             Muscat

                         Smith

       Ifill                             Huysegems

                        Brockie

We were told it was weather dependent and that all who needed to know were informed of that. I just assumed that meant it would have been advertised to fans.

Yes bit strange it was not publicly known. But the decision was to be a minimum of 24 hrs notice so maybe some contingency ad plan was on place for TW but other teams I can't comment.

provided we play 4-3-3 and int he same manner we have away to the jets and perth then we got this. We have to nullify Gillets influence and play good attacking footy.

3-0 us

Queenslander 3x a year.

Something like reduced ticket sales wouldve been good, even if only $5 or something, alot of it could be made back on food and stuff like that. There were probably only about 50 people, or less, at kick off for TW vs Canty

I hope its right that Huysegems is coming in for Fenton.

Looking forward to seeing Huysegems, Ifill and Brockie rotating around in that top three. That has real potential as long as they aren't tripping over each other.

And in that formation Smith needs to have a blinder with Sanchez coming back.

I think Smith needs a blinder in general - he could probably do with a goal

Normo's coming home
