Call yourself a Wellingtonian?

You're not one unless you've been frotted well and truly on the #3 after a day at the office...

Except for aeroplanes and sometimes taxis, public transport is not my thing. Too dirty. I also like to run/walk.

Pah!  You are clearly a Kapiti Coaster as opposed to a true Wellingtonian.

Do you eat cucumber sarnies with or without crusts?

I live in Wellington and don't eat wheat lol

I grew up on the Kapiti Coast, and when I lived there it was a synonym for "bogan" rather than "snobby". And being able to get to Wellington by train was the best thing about it.

It's probably changed a bit over the years.
Mind you Hatter is from there so maybe not...

Oi J82,
We haven't had a murder here for quite a few months now, things are on the up & up.
In fact I was discussing outsiders perceptions of the Kapiti Coast, with my gardener just the other day, & he mentioned how it used to be full of hippies & oiks, I chortled so much , I spilt my Pimms. (fortunately the parlour maid was on hand to mop up my spillage)

Egads man! You talked to your gardner???

The bounder will be taking liberties with you soon my good sir.  Liberties I say.  Best give him a damn good thrashing so that he knows his station in life (Tawa, perhaps).

The worst thing is that the ACFC twitter account retweeted that. On the other hand, they also retweeted it when I had a go at him and told him to go to both, like many of the Fever are doing.

Yep, don't understand those who claim to be bigger fans of football and NZF than us (it is a minority), being as they only watch ACFC (or whichever team) and we watch both...

But meh, what ever helps them get up in the morning.

I think some peoples comments moaning about the amount of marketing, potentially low prices and hoping that Auckland doesn't pull it off are shocking and displays a serious inferiority complex. In our leaders words - pathetic.

It's not an inferiority complex. Welnix moan about crowds here, but do little marketing, so to see a game in Auckland get far more marketing than we've had all season is annoying, considering that fact.

They also threaten to take games away, so a lower crowd, comparable marketing and cheaper ticket pricing in wellington, would stop the travelling circus.

It's not a particularly dominant thought, and I do want a big crowd, but it is there in the back of the mind.

I appreciate what you say Tegal but I am sure that Wellnix would up their marketing in wellington and spend if they thought they could hit 20k. If the roles were reversed I am sure you would for a one off game. The same principles apply to pricing. With Auckland they can potentially cut prices at the last minute but in Wellington you will piss of too many people (including season ticket holders) and have people holding off buying tickets. In Auckland you can piss people off a little if it is a once off game. Saying all that I paid $36 for my ticket last year.

I was the top of my class for English junior but the worst speller. The thought of seeing you after class however sends shivers down my spine so I will find the little curly thing next time. Christ I hope you are not really a teacher

You have part of a point around pricing, season ticket holders and one off games but against that, perhaps they could get 20k in Wellington, but you'd never know as they don't market it.

Tonight say a little prayer to the football gods that this game will be a thrilling, exciting game with the Nix getting a late winner in a 5 goal thriller and everyone in Auckland who went will be telling their buddies that they missed a wonderful game.

Because the Nix and the A-League are on show here. I hope against hope that it does not come to pass that the two most, not very exciting teams in the A-League grind out a 0-0 or 1-1 borefest and everyone goes....Iv'e just wasted 3 hours of my life.

Thanks Doloras for the bus info....is it true you can catch diseases off buses in Auckland?(or is that off people who use buses)

Is there a curtain raiser?  Vaguely remember Auckland City vs Waitak was on the program?

Yeah fair call AP. it may be a little irrational on some level, but you can appreciate how it is a little irksome.

A five goal thriller to me would be Nix 5 Perf 0

I heard that the Breakers are releasing more seats at their big game.  So vector can fit in just over 9k.  If the Phoenix do not draw more of a crowd, I'll be disappointed.

Top of the table, back to back champions, and in the middle of a record winning streak versus bottom of the table, cat-killing as a side project, and generally shambolic at the moment. I'll also be disappointed, but I won't be surprised.

All of Gareth's rantings have taken a bit of pressure off Ricki - but he's still got to be the focus.

We're still last, and we're last playing a style of football initiated by Ricki apparently - not the board or Gareth.  He's done a pretty awful job this year and a lot of people are beginning to see what others have been pointing out for a while - the players are badly coached.  Our attack is easy to defend against, because our attack is far too static and our players make bad runs.  greenie, ricki, unsure who is to blame but it's not working.

We haven't scored a "team" goal this year - those are the ones the coaching staff would really appreciate and that's telling.

All I mean is whatever style we're playing he's behind it.  i.e. nothing is being "imposed" on him (apparently).

Woohoo, open training at Eden Park Friday 12-1! I dreamed last night that Glen Moss was chatting me up, let's see if I can get him and Pasty to sign my training gloves.

I like Ricki but I think he's hit the Lawrie McKinna wall - too matey with the players, needs someone to make tough calls.

O'Leary was (again) pretty good not reffing the Phoenix on Friday night.  Wish they would just pay his flights so he could do it every week instead of reffing us.  At least with Burns Perth will be down to three players swearing at him all game.
