I think we need to hang on here. We've lost shape all over the park.

Only if the opposing team get penalised or an opposing player get carded.

But yeah, he needs to stop.

We've played well. A draw would have been a fair call cause Perth played well in the 2nd half when we were out of it, but the amount of times we have been shafted like that, bugger it we'll take the 3 and enjoy the long flight home...

MOM: Leo legend gets it but Greenacre, Ifill, Diego impressed me. Nod to Sigmund as well.
Next week Lia to replace Manny.

Well done lads. 3 points on the board, needed with the run of away games coming up. Still areas of concern, but plenty of potential on display today as well.

Agreed. A lot less 40 yard ball (in fact I struggle to remember more than 2) and I put that down to one thing. Tim Brown

Unfortunately, if this is the by-product of our football if he doesn't play, then I don't want him to return unless he is a direct swap for McKain. Even then... I think Ricki must recognise that we are not a 2 defensive midfielder team if we are going to play 2 strikers.

I think we will see the same squad out and playing next week except for maybe Manny being dropped, for Lia or Mulligan. He did have a nightmare game tonight. Constantly got done.

Take away Ferrantes first five minutes and i think he showed why we cant have McKain and Brown in the midfield together.

Bertos was immense as was Ifil who hopefully will play the full 90 next week. Up till he got subbed he was mom for me.

Durante was much better today aswell. Good win, dominated in parts, held on in others. But got there.

Yes, top goals in the A-League this week.

Yeah Bertos just said that although it was long way out, might as well have a crack. For once he has got it right. Have a crack because you ever know.AllWhitebelievr2009-08-16 19:06:06

Manny doesn't like wet greasy conditions. Remember his shocker last season against Melbourne?

But to be fair he was good in the first half and certainly better overall than Lochhead, who I'm afraid looked out of his depth today.

really good game. obviously dropped in the second half but we came away with the three points. leo legend bertos... what can I say.. hes amazing.

liked the formation, just dropped intensity in the second half. dont know how we can combat that?

keep that formation on the road.

Lochead looked out of his depth??? Were you watching??

If He was the weak link as you suggest then they would of attacked down his flank, which they didn't all night. Even the commentator said with 10 minutes to go that Lochead has had very little defending to do.

He didn't venture forward like we like, but he didn't do anything wrong defensively.

alot to be happy about with todays performance: good win: leo and Ifill get off the mark for the season:for the most part defence looked like it could cope and best of all - some ENTERTAINING football.

+1 a lot more patience by the defence/midfield on attack. Manny had problems today, but one poor performance doesn't make a season. Diego, Bertos and Ifill seemed to provide plenty of creativity going forward. MoM a difficult choice, as I feel all the players faded in and out at times. Lia looked good when he came on, with good distribution. I missed our first season, so that was my first time seeing him play.

Probably, the most satisfying thing was the more positive style of play today. Even after going down, we didn't revert to long balls, but knuckled down and began creating opportunities.

We shouldn't get too carried away though. There are better teams in the league than Perth, and this Perth team had some pretty rough luck with injuries before and during the game, and were the width of the crossbar away from 1 (or even 3) points

Agreed. It was a vastly improved performance due to new personnel. There are things to take away though.

1: Conceeding early...again

2: Dominance in our own box. Paston at times didn't strike me as being 'this is my f**king box'.

3: Right back.

The Perth MoM HAS to be their keeper... Some of those shots Ifill was putting in were fantastic, He really saved them from our first half fantastic form
