yeh this game should be a beaut. Nix will need to be strong everywhere, but esp the midfield.
Bring on the Muscat wars!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Anyone else think Moss should startr over paston even though he is leaving? I know Paston made th good penalty save but still recun moss is a btter keeper

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

Lets face it, goalies aren't really footie players, most of their time is spent either catching or throwing the ball, and they tend to be a bit odd.  Could talk of them be restricted to a dedicated goalie thread that the rest of us could avoid?

Hardest thing is going to be breaking down their defence. Have to try and exploit the wings when the likes of Kemp is stuck in an attacking position (happens often). Midfield is where we can and have to dominate, though, like you said.

nah sorry Im gonna have to go with paston. despite what everyone says he actually s a proven keeper. yes he is sh*t at times and I do agree.. moss is the better of the two but he(paston) needs more game time. he can only get better. I was watching a clip on you tube last night whe he was playing against sydney for the knights. pure class. if he gets back to that form he could be better than moss.

Yeah, I remember watching Paston play in a game against Newcastle, and he saved a penalty in the last minute, and a lot of people had doubted him, but I never did, because Paston is Truth, and Truth always prevails....

Actually, I'm writing some fan fiction about Paston, but in it Paston isn't Paston, but a Crystal and he has to battle all these demons to get another Crystal, I could get it published if I wanted to, but I don't want to, because that would make it impure, you know?

I wish I could touch him...

Those of you who watch ESPN occassionally should get this...

you missed the part about his super power of sh*tting marshmallows...

seriously though...sure he has made a blunder or two and isn't perfect, but he is also equally not a walking disaster zone. Not so much because of the penalty save, but more the take in the air in the crowded box before it.

if we knew he was perfect it wouldn't be worth watching the game then would it?

That line, along with your avatar pic, have got me asking some serious questions......

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Weather on the radio said its going to be 20 C tommorrow. Hopefully a lot of people come across after work.

Also i don't think Paston should be replaced by Moss. Since Paston has started our defence has been a lot better than it was prior. I'm not saying that is all him, but maybe he organises the defence better than Moss.

Prediciting 2-1 to the Phoenix. Bertos and Fred to score.

I agree. If I had to take a penalty against that mo, I would freak out and screw it up as well. Here's hoping he keeps it well beyond this weekend.

Line-up has pretty much been garanteed as the same as last week with Dura for Dodd and Christie on the bench, I'm predicting a 1-0 win, Fred to be assisted by Smeltz
You know we belong together...

Doesnt the radio ad suggest that Daniel is going to be "kicking it up brazillian style" for more than 25 mins?

Lookin forward to an entertaining game after work tomorrow. Think lineup will be the same besides the forced change. Hopefully the boys can fire up well and put a few away.

i am deadset in the 'Start Moss' camp.

Paston looks shaky every game. Comes of his line at the wrong time or not at all. I think he has let three goals in so far that he should have stopped - v newcaste (patafta's goal), v Perth (Rukyvitsa 1st goal) and v Sydney (the shocker). Too many mistakes too regularly for me. Moss made very few over the course of many games and he made more saves. In fact, Im baffled as to why he hasnt restored Moss to starting line up. And I hope that wasnt the reason he decided to sign with Melbourne.

Quick question. If you walk up to the stadium on the night can you ask for a ticket in 21 or 22 or will they just give u a random ticket and you must go to have to get it changed?

Its hard to get a ticketing booth that will give you a specific ticket...

Its best just to go to Ticketek during the day and pay a $6 fee.

Yeah he was and yes he does (looks a tad shaky and comes off his line at the wrong time),, but It's all about if they see Paston as the long term keeper for us. If they do Paston will start, if not maybe they'll give Mossy ago. If he is going to be part of out long term plan, (and that's likely with the Allwhites, etc), they need someone to sort out his flappyness.

We are starting Smeltz. Best team should be on the park at all times. It's not like Paston needs the experience - he isn't going to improve any more.

Smeltz and Paston play different positions, i think that Moss should be on the park infront of Paston, oh and Smeltz too!

You'll get a random ticket in the YF zone. No need to change it.

I refute that. Coming off his line seems like a confidence issue, something that can be improved no matter how old or developed a player is.

Not really. It's a skill that also requires sound decision-making.

Keeper may become more/less confident in getting off his line, but if he doesn't have the skills necessary to do it, confidence (or lack of it) won't make him and better or worse at it.

I remember his first game this season how confident he was coming off his line and taking crosses etc. Will take more games until his confidence is fully back. Moss is in my opinion too a better goalkeeper but considering his lengthy absence, am questioning whether it would be wise to throw him in to such an important game against the best side in the league.

He collects crosses easily when not under pressure.

Under pressure he flaps at them and generally chickens out.

Nothing will change that now.

Amen to that. I spent the whole game on Sunday crapping on about Covic, and how we should sign him up right now.

Plus the team needs more Croat too, as I keep saying.

Chatting to the Melbourne Physio last night with Ernie Merrick and News, they are stoked to have Mossy coming........

And their goalkeeping coach (who has worked in the Prem) was apparently a big factor for Mossy to go and work under him....
