No but keen to learn... have had several lessons outside the Treasury in Brissy at all hours so should be easy enough to pick up

I reckon putting money on nix taking out the championship will not be money wasted right now.

Interesting item on the Brighton & Hove Albion Website. I wonder if Mr Ifill will still be trialling with the team tonight?!

I think this is potentially a superb signing. Off to the TAB before they cotton on.

Former Premiership winger Paul Ifill, ex-Liverpool youngster Alan Navarro and prolific non-league striker Carl Rook are all training with Albion this week.

Ifill and Navarro are both free agents, having left Crystal Palace and MK Dons respectively, at the end of last season, while centre-forward Rook is still under contract with Tonbridge Angels.

Brighton-born Ifill began his career with Millwall, before an 800,000 move to Sheffield United in 2005. The 29-year-old spent last week on trial with Millwall from his release by Palace in May.

Ifill and Navarro could play some part in tomorrow night's game at AFC Wimbledon, but former Hastings United and Horsham striker Rook, who hit 47 goals in 58 games over two seasons in the Ryman League Premier Division, is not set to feature.

I know, I know, its serious!

Yays, if he can play as a target man we can be a bit more open in our search for the other striker.
You know we belong together...

Don't think he's a targetman from what I've heard.

Yeah, that is what i'm thinking too (though I only vaguely rememeber seeing him play). He is quite tall if I remember right but he has obviously never played that position so it's a bit weird to say he's our target man.

Still excited by this signing, though I hope we are still searching for a true target man.

Thoughts on Ifill's departure

Apparently was offered a one year deal, turned it down. Fans seem to think he didn't try hard enough and his injury record was 'comical'. Also say that he has a good shot on him though with both feet and apparently he scored the goal of the season for them.

Was originally signed by Millwall as a striker but he was forced into midfield after injuries at the club

A few points.

1, You will be hammered.  They are used to rival clubs invading.
2, Do anything to lead them back here and invade back and you will be banned for life from here.

I remain hard to plse.. a quality player no doubt but 11 in 66 in last 3 seasons is not going to help much with our striking situation unless the class difference between Championship and A league compensates.  good attacking midfielder but not a target man..still need that role filled and ifill and greenacre can feed off him.  Bring back Astroclaus...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

indeed, the media release they put out is certainly doing its best to convince us he's a striker - yet his goal scoring record and other sources suggest he is a winger.

Yeah, it's not quite adding up just at the moment. And the mention of injuries is a tiny bit disquieting.

However, he sounds like an excellent signing to me whatever position he ends up playing in. He and Greenacre will provide a lot of experience to the team.

Magic! I played for the Tonbridger Angles in my younger days. Played against Wolves to name one notable game and faced up against Steve Bull and the Wolf. Though The Angels had gone under!
