Interesting that Ricki was wearing his all white tie and shirt rather then the Phoenix
I thought Terry seemed preety nervous and did not come across very convincing. No hint about this 10 mill sponsorship deal which is a concern

Poor Terry turning up to CloseUP for that failed interview. Hope TVNZ paid for the airfares to get to dorkland.
Amazed Ricki got a word in about football.
Would of been nice to have seen an interview about Phoenix and football.
Not drag Ricki into a beatup about Terry and his 'money issues'

I really was hoping Ricki might of been asked about the up coming friendlies, maybe try and get him to talk about transfers, or even his thoughts on how the U-20 OFC boys are doing. I guess Terry's money woes are more triumphant in comparison to N.Z football..
We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Terry's commitment towards Wellington Phoenix is admirable, but why does the perennial doubt over his ability to pay feature so strongly all the time? Yes, recession has hit property owners and devlopers but wouldn't it be wise for Wellington Phoenix to be ringfenced from his other businesses? May be Wellington Phoenix as a club is still not a sustainable business.

You may well be a slow learner, but none of the A-League clubs are sustainable businesses. The A-League is not a sustainable business model. This will need to change in the medium term.

Well done TVNZ if you live outside of NZ you can view Close Up.
TVNZ have only got 3 sports reporters [if you can call them that] 2of them are netball and one is rugby.
Purhaps Phoenix could put on pies and sausage rolls for morning tea at trainings and purhaps Andrew Saville would turn up more often !!!?????

It can't be, when you're putting in 400k a month that needs to come from somewhere and it's not like he's got cash falling out of his back pocket. It has to come from his other businesses

Hopefully it will be sponsorships in the very near future ....good luck with the 2 million/yr one,Terry that would be a coup.

I do trust that this will happen, I do believe he is a fantastic businessman.

If we get 12,000 paying spectators coming to every match in caketin, at say $20 per person, we get $240,000! This will surely bridge the gap! So, selling more season passes must be a priority.
Direct Debit season passes, paid for monthtly.
Just sayin'.
Probably requires Ticketek to be able to handle tickets that are suspended for non-payment, which they're probably not competent enough to do.

I was thinking it was just Terry talking up his WGA chances again, but if Lyall Gorman says he's been involved in the process with an overseas sponsor then I feel a whole heap better and more relaxed that something good coud be coming

Overseas could still mean WGA. The fact that is it is called an 'overseas' sponsor rather than Australian or NZ - suggests its not even NZ or AU arm of an international firm? i.e - not Sony's local representatives or the like, pursing the local market?
So who (else) would be interested? Hopefully it's just a Qatari fund buying votes ahead of the Fifa elections :P
But i say it's still WGA, and terry is still in fantasyland.
Terry- why are Racing Santander's players still owed money from your Moneybags friend?

Gorman is here to say to Terry...."OK mate.....this has gone on long enough. Show me that you have the $$$ to viably run a football club or we are pulling the plug"
Gorman....like everyone else does not want this to get messy. The CEO of the Nix was quoted as saying that "currently Terry does not have the $$$ to run the club". Which means that very soon wages won't get paid. the club will be in breach of players contracts and players will walk.
This needs to be sorted soon. We still have a good coach on the books. We still have 12 good players on the books. If this drags on and the club implodes it will take a huge job to resurrect it. If there are new owners then it would be like going back to year one trying to assemble a whole team in a short amount of time.
This proposed $1 million plus annual sponsorship is cuckoo land stuff. Its just a beat up of the sorry WGA saga.
442 recently quoted an insider form the FFA that " they have had a serious approach from a potential new owner(of the Nix) in the last few weeks. So lets get theis over with. IMO this new owner(however uncertain) is a hell of a lot more probable than Terry financing the Nix this season.

I believe that Terry will be able to fund the club for this entire season. When the $2 million per year sponsorship gets finalised, the club will start making a profit rather than a loss.
Stop knocking Terry, he has done wonders for football in NZ. In the unlikely event that his several companys do collapse and he can no longer attract sponsers and fund the club, then yes, a new owner would be welcomed. But currently, everything Terry has said and done have shown that he is capable of running the club.
