Would have liked some questions on what happens after 5 years, are there any issues regarding long term participation regarding pressure from some AFC members, any progress on ACL participation. If there are any issues regarding players/staff back pay with CCF I think it would show some good will if the new entity cover those debts rather than let the players/staff join the queue of other creditors.

Overall I am happy and think we should have a very stable setup for the next 5 years

Rob Morrison is thumping into reporters' heads that Welnix has not taken on any of Century City Football's liabilities, only the licence. So Terry still owes Ricki $100,000, I suppose.

This is what interests me. I understand it is a clean sheet, but where do any potential debts go? Still owed by CCF/Terry?

I may have missed it in the presser, my internet connection keeps cutting out.

My understanding is that the new consortium haven't bought the company; they've effectively bought one of its assets i.e. the licence. The debts stay with the company, which will no doubt be wound up with creditors getting a portion of what they're owed.

I hope that if the new chaps get into strife they will be as passionate about keeping the club afloat as Terry was.

Also would have liked to have seen if they are prepared to, or under what conditions, use any of the Marquee spots available or if just meeting minimum salary cap spend? Do they have any performance targets for the team etc.

As 2ndBest said, overall pretty poor from the press.

Very good almost-haiku there. But Terry ain't dead yet, and neither is the Nix. Although I think there's a RNZ reporter who needs a punch in the face.

Was it the RNZ muppet asking the questions over money going to Terry with the transfer of the club?

Is Terry's presser going to be shown live as well? Or Ricky's? Good on TV3 for the coverage of the one at midday.

Is it Six or Seven in the consortium?

"Magnificent Seven Save Phoenix"
The new owners, originally dubbed the Phoenix Five, actually number seven. They are headed by Kiwibank chairman Rob Morrison and also include Gareth Morgan, Lloyd Morrison, Campbell Gower, James Brown, Henry Tait and Lib Petanya. A new licence has been given to a company called Wellnix Ltd.

I haven't found streams anywhere. Footage will no doubt be on the evening news for both.

All Brown said is the way Terry departed is "questionable". What's wrong with that? It has been questioned that he may have been pushed rather than he jumped. Just because FFA head and Terry says he left without being pressured to go doesn't make it so. Some people need to move on from the 'waa waa waa, the media is picking on the Phoenix' position, it's beyond pathetic.

Regardless, I can only see everything that has happened today as positive. From here on, most media coverage will be positive. Today's announcement has even broken through the wall of RWC coverage. There is heightened interest in the club currently, and although it will diminish again after this weekend's rugby, I believe the club can capitalise on the extra interest ahead of the coming season. In the next two weeks we should have at least three more player announcements, getting the club further press. People are going to be very interested in seeing how things develop at the club. Now it is up to the club to capitalise on that - on and off the pitch - and for us supporters to demonstrate why we were often referred to so positively during today's midday presser.

Um...who said it was questionable?  There was no quote from anyone to suggest it was.  Instead Brown has expressed his opinion, in a non-opnion piece.

Now with 5-7 owneers, does that provide 5-7 opportunies for the doom post to snoop around their business and splash it across the front page. 2ndBest2011-09-23 14:10:16

Surely the DoomPost will be more interested in making sure Terry goes bankrupt than anything more than happens with the Nix.

To celebrate a bit of stability and certainty going forward... I've bought the new Stripey.
Very happy that this has happened, only because Terry has done all he can for the club that he's created and it was time for someone else to take the reins.
The Magnificent 6/7 can offer what Terry no longer could - cash to run the club!

Thanks to new owners of the Phoenix license, and hope Terry accepts the honorary patron position. He deserves it. Don't blame the media for this. Reality of running any biz, including an A League  football club, is that you gotta have enough funds to pay the bills.
Many of us had no confidence to purchase memberships for 11/12, but will now, that's for sure. Think that says it all really.
On the field, just hope we can there's still some quality about to sign up for the start.

Many thanks to terry for the first two or three years, after that, I believe he's been a hinderance.

Sure the media have been into him, but there was a reason for this, he partly got rich by delaying payment to all and sundry, and subsequently pissing his creditors off. This has finally caught up with him.

We can now all concentrate on the football and stop looking over our collective shoulders for the next dig at Terry.

I'm am now looking forward to a great season with a few more signings.

Thanks again Terry, but good riddance.

I'm sure everyone would have loved it if Terry could have stayed owner of the Phoenix as long as he lived, but it was just unviable at this point. Glad to see the club is looking stable again though.

Fact is, if Terry hadn't done such a good job in creating a successful club, we wouldn't have had a chance to get this set of owners stepping in.

I've already called Michael Brown a dick, and I'll elaborate: not only is him sticking his opinion in a non-opinion story unprofessional, but it seems designed to kick Terry when he's down on what is possibly the worst day of his last decade. Like karori's post, it's uncharitable. As I say, at least Burgess's story was graceful.

Terry has a point with "Where were all these financial backers of the Nix a couple of years ago when I could have used the help?", but of course the answer to that is that Terry has never played well with others. And I am very happy to hear him say that in his opinion blowing $8-10 million on a football team was worth it.
