And engaging Oz media meaningfully, so they understand that we benefit A-League, although I agree that we need the A-League more.

And what is good for the A-League does not always have to be good to FFA.

Doesn't the ARLC TV money from the NRL also fund the State of Origin. As well as the Australian National side (Kangaroo's).

Yea.

It would have been interesting to see how the the crowd numbers did if it was a week between Wellington games.  But shark even for me it feels like that campipgn was AGES ago.

Can the player's kits have "Save the Nix" on the front and back?

That crowd last night won't help our metrics - I can just hear the FFA saying that the Nix can't pull decent crowds in Oz. I suppose at least it might make average home crowd figure look better relative to Brisbane's.

The FFA's decision to play that game in the afternoon instead of the evening was a classic BS call from them. They can't even use the argument they have for playing games in the heat of the day in Perth so it's a better time for broadcast on the East coast. And I don't know if it was the FFA's call or the Roar's but why did they play at that completely unsuitable Aussie rules ground instead of at the rectangular football ground where the NPL team plays and where NRL games have been held too?

And underlining that Football Federation Australia is giving no assurances beyond 2016 to Wellington Phoenix, their entire 24-man roster was named on the uncontracted list.

Kosta on that list.

My guess is that he's gunning for a big move offshore.

Playing to a great standard this year.

Haven't we got, at the very least, another 4 years (if we want them)? In which case, that seems a bit of a misleading and inaccurate little quote there.

As I understand it we still need to apply.  And if we dick around too much then they might be allowed to say no, but its likely they say yes.  I think.

I haven't listened to the last couple of Phoenix City's (oops) but it seems with the new collective bargaining agreement, approaches can't be made to players with contracts past the end of the club's licence until a decision has been made on whether the club will get an extension on their licence or not. So it seems that most of our 24 contracted past this season are ok, though McGlinchey and Krishna have their contracts expiring anyway.

Couple of things, because of our licence situation not sure how likely players like WeeMac and Roy are keen to sign extensions and any players we would like to sign are likely to pass on us.

Following training @WestpacStadium tomorrow approx 11am there will be a significant announcement #savethenix #WELvSYD

Please let it be the license (Will probably be about a player)

Pretty sure this won't be license. They'd announce that in an office somewhere. Player related my guess. https://twitter.com/wgtnphoenixfc/status/677365637962842112…

Actually more likely a player... As Piney said, if it was license they would do that at an office.

when they give a heads up that there will be a player signing before have they ever used the words  "a significant announcement"?

All I want for Christmas is a 10 year license

I'm pretty sure they have used that phrase for signings before.Plus Ernie has been speaking about looking for a striker. It could be Sarpong leaving too, just to speculate wildly...

Having said that, I don't think that they necessarily would make an announcement about the license in an office - why not do it after training and show all the players being stoked that they have got secure futures finally?

Well I'm excited. If it was a license you'd think it would be a live streamed press release. Hopefully Simon Hampton gets down there with periscope.

Ok I don't think it's player related.

Coaching change is my guess (not Ernie) I'm calling the return of Gould.

My second is Domes resignation.

Welnix PTY Ltd  has been registered in Tasmania.

10 more years as we are now an Tasmanian Devil company.

Home games will be played in NZ so extinction is an option.

If its not License I can not see it being a new player signing (as I cant believe anyone would sign to a club with no license in 6 months), I would think it will be a player leaving the club, Maybe Roly getting a contract and transfer overseas, Sarpong leaving? Or even Siggy hanging up his boots at the end of the season.

Hopefully I am proved wrong

Siggy leaving, he writing a book, already has 2nd job at NZF. I would be OK with that, still would miss him on the field, good for another year.

20 year licence extension, would be nice.

, and signed Mourihno as new coach, maybe marquee coaches are the new thing.

WTF???

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/socceroos-star-...

"Socceroos legend Tim Cahill is emerging as the possible face of a third A-League team in Sydney that could replace Wellington Phoenix as early as next season. The New Zealand club is inching closer to being ousted from the A-League as it is yet to apply for a four-year licence extension on offer from the Football Federation Australia.

If we have not applied yet, is it because:

- negotiations are ongoing behind closed doors for something else than 4 years?

or

- no license application will be filed?

"Four A-League clubs risk losing competition points, seeing their players made free agents and other potential sanctions if they do not catch up on outstanding payments to players by December 31.

Brisbane Roar, Adelaide United, Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners have been identified as the four clubs who still owe various payments to players and must address their arrears to avoid any repercussions."

Looks like they're just squatting on the license.

A new club in South Sydney?  Bloody FFA is just trying to rearrange deckchchairs on the Titanic.
