Um didn't Totori already rip the Jets apart in Newcastle earlier this season? I recall him waltzing through their team with ease and then missing an open goal... I suppose the end result of that kinda stopped him looking class though

Running in a straight line and somehow managing to get through a couple of players and missing isn't exactly 'ripping them apart'. Totori flatters to deceive - no end product.
Well whether you call it "ripping them apart" or not, my point was Totori looked the best against the Jets of any of his performances this season, so the people who are cautioning falling in love with Cernak over his showing against them and the Glory-hole boys are probably right.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

Get rid of Lia and Smith.

I would potentially keep Totori, annoying as he is, if we do move towards a more possession based game and look to get players in behind the line he may come of age, plus he's in his first year in a professional environment, give him a bit more time to develop. After all, Lia's been in one for how long and has looked arse this year.

Also Siggy took a while to find his feet.

Neither Lia nor Siggy take up an import slot.

Nail. Head. If Totori was a local I would have no issue with him being a 20 minute impact player when we're desperate.
We have used our import spots horribly since inception except for Ifill and Greenie. (and the Fred mini-guest stint)

This 'maybe' keeps popping up, but is there any substance to it?

There is substance to it. He qualifies for Aus residency during the off-season, so it just depends when exactly he does qualify, and how long to residency process takes.

With McGlinchey's contract expiring at the end of the season, I would be hoping we would be making a big play for him.

I think McG will certainly look to head back to Europe.

The A League did what he wanted, got him back into a professional environment and on Ricki's radar for the world cup. Time to head back and test himself against a higher level of opposition and see how good he really is.

Well, I would be combining Smith's, Sanchez's, Totori's and Cernak's (current or possible) salary and offering him that. Also, It's hard to fathom how we could possibly be close to the salary cap when you look at the other HAL teams and the players they have under the cap.

We don't need cap room, we should be looking to make him a domestic marquee IMO.

As much as I would like Wee Mac, don't think he would leave CCM to another A-League side. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to head overseas again. I think a J-League/K-League move wouldn't be a bad option.

Strong rumour on our forum he is resigning with us very soon .... and guys don't take this the wrong way ... BUT having GA as your coach to develop your game and show your talents to overseas clubs... and RH to develop you and show you off ....  who would you pick ....

At a similar level ... MV under AP are having no problems getting the best to come... this coaching thing being discussed on other threads does affect players as well.... Rojas for example

Not saying he did not develop Rojas.... just saying going on reputation given a choice hand on heart not the other thing ... would a player wanting to develop their game go to WSW with Popa, MV with AP, Mariners with GA .....OR .....  Fergie at PG, Kossie [Ok he has gone] RH at the Nix...

nah he's not he was just left with no help for a large part of the game,

like the comments above, given we are supposed to be at the cap we have to be paying some players a lot more than they are worth.

I beg to differ, and significantly so. Firstly, if Lochy had put in a shift like Hogg last night, the forums would have crashed with all the angst.
But Ifill (and Huysegems and Brockie) had a very significant defensive contribution in wide areas in our defensive third in the first half, which is why Hogg's and Manny's defensive failings didn't cost us too much in that half. With the departure of Brockie and Huysegems, and Ifill tiring, Manny and Hogg completely fell to pieces in the second half.
Manny was actually absolutely terrible - that was one of the worst fullback performances I've ever seen in a professional game. He wasn't in the right position 80% of the time (and this is a conservative estimate), and even when he was, he was badly shown up (the second goal being a good example).

watch the last goal again, manny didn't even bother to squeeze in behind his centre back

Not sure I want to. I'm still trying to convince myself last night didn't happen....

I can't write a big enough rant about last night. But on a transfer note the key areas of weakness depth are;

RB - Manny didn't look great,  and Leo isn't exactly at his best there. We need a solid RB performer.

DMF - No one in the squad bar Manny has performed there this season, and by Manny's standards he's off

I honestly believe that you plug those two gaps, and play a 4-2-3-1 we've got the ability to really shore up our defence, and start to unlock defences at the other end between Brockie, Ifill, Hysugems, and Fenton/Boyd/Totori/Sanchez

1] Hogg was abandoned for most of the game. He was getting skinned and had no help.

2] WTF is Paston up to? Yet again, the big welly up the field and giving the ball away so the 6'4 defenders could out jump our 5'6 strikers. We just gift the opposition possession every friggen time. Also as  our goalkeeper it is his job to keep the defenders informed of what is going on behind their backs. Over the last few games Siggy and Durante seem to be having a go at Paston for not telling them where the opposition players are behind them.

3] We don't ever play the long ball - yeah right. Why are we persisting in big 50 yard lobs all the friggen time? We have no height so keep the friggen ball on the ground. What is wrong with short passing? Last night we spent most of the game passing the ball straight to the opposition. CCM must have been laughing in their dressing room.

4] WTF Ifill? You didn't chase the passes that you could have gotten too - even with your slow legs. Yet, you ran your arse off to go after definate lost causes?? Is it time to call it a day? I fear the legs have gone.

5] STOP Playing route 1 football.

6] HAVE a plan "B"!!

7] STOP Playing route 1 football.

8] Have more passing at practices.

9] HAVE a plan "B" !

I beg to differ. Leo is looking better at right back than he has for a couple of seasons as a left mid. His confidence to take players on is back and stronger than it has been for a while. That said he only seems to be at his best when Siggy is barking orders at him. Still want a specialist RB instead of converting players into a stop gap though

Sorry, posted that lot on the wrong thread. My apologies. In regards to transfers. We need some younger, hungrier legs. Fenton, Hogg etc, they show promise and will be much better players for this sad seasons experience. But some of the 30+ year olds really need to look at their motivation and their "efforts" that they put in.
