Yeah I'd take him too. Beggars can't be choosers.

I'd gladly take Culina, he would fill our hole in midfield.

What evidence do you have that he's a c**k? Have you met him?

most footballers have zero personality anyway. I don't really care if they can play. Lots of musicians I like I wouldn't want to hang out with.

Just got fired for arguing with his coach, pretty cocky move.

Decent? Hes better than our whole midfield combined! Sign him up.

Who really cares if one of the mods on here has a beef with him.

No he's not. he may have been once but now He dives, he whines, he's been sacked by Sydney and has shot knees.

He plays down to the level of those around him and passes backward 95% of the time which based on the whining in the zone is a crime punishable by death according to most.

Just no.

If your team at work are generally ok, and then start performing like shit, do you think it might start to become a management issue?
It's not the cock-ups and attitude problems per se, it's how they are dealt with.
I think the players individually are better than they play as a team I guess.

Oh I'm not saying that Ricki isn't to blame, I'm pointing out that the (invalid) argument that the only reason this is not Welnix's fault because they don't kick the ball on the field can also be applied to Ricki, which points out the flaw in it.

This makes no sense, RH directly influences what happens on the pitch.  This is an example of some absolute rubbish which has been posted on these forums recently

but aren't most people saying the problem is a little bit of everything? There's a grain of truth in 95% of the comments on here. I don't see why people get so exasperated with the forum. I would rather know what others think about the team, angsty or positive, I don't care -  but instead most comments are directed at trying to steer other people's comments one way or the other. Foucault would have a field day.

That's not what I'm saying. My original comment was a sarcastic reply to somebody else who said Welnix are not at fault because they don't kick the ball on the field. I've added the post I was replying to up above, to put my post in context. I think many of us can agree that nobody at the club is entirely blameless in this. I was sarcastically pointing out that Welnix are partly to blame with what has happened this season (due to the confusion they created within the media, the fans and also the players). I completely agree with you, Ricki is the main influence on what happens on the pitch.

I didn't see what you said before you edited your post, but I'm guessing you had a go at me. I'm sick of this place.

Culina & Sydney mutually parted ways last night. No sauce but it was on FOX SPORT news this morning. It's official: Culina heading to Wellington! :)

I dislike him as much as you do but saying that he isn't an improvement on Smith/Lia/Muscat/Cernak is a joke. Even with two shot knees he's better than that lot.

He's not better than Muscat and has thrown a public tanty at being asked to play for the B side at training (whether other actions lead to it or not is conjecture).

What we really need when team spirit looks shot is someone who has been labeled as difficult at all 3 A-League clubs he has played for.

I understand where you are coming from. I really do. I am no fan of Culina at all.
What do you think is going to happen to team moral when I player of his standing comes in. Granted he is past his best, his knees are shot and he has an attitude but it will provide a lift. So far we have recruited nice guys, and where has it actually gotten us? If squad harmony won us the league, we'd have a trophy cabinet full. As it stands, we are in the cellar, with good reason - we can't win football games. That has zero to do with how nice everyone else finds his team mates right now (but they do go hand in hand I agree)
No one is talking about anything other than 6 rounds to try push for the play offs. After that, he can fuck off back to where ever he came from. For 6 rounds, he is unlikely to destroy a team or make worse what is already a pile of shit.
Hell I'd even take Jacob Burns for 6 rounds at the moment because at least that cunt will show some fight which others are not.

I'd also like to add that with Cernak at the top and Manny in front of the back 4, he would sit nicely between the 2 of them and improve our midfield which is exactly what we need.

I'm not sure that we would be allowed to sign him, even if we wanted to. He would have to be an injury replacement for Pantelis (I think), and unless FFA grant us 'exceptional circumstances', we aren't allowed to sign a player who has played for an A-League club this late in the season. I highly doubt the FFA will treat us the same way they treated Sydney FC when they signed Tiago.

Paying out Downey is always an option. Depends how much cap space it would give us. Doubt Culina could be an Aussie marquee any more.

I always thought when someone got injured in an accident ACC paid their wages like any ordinary worker - is that the case?  I guess even if it does it counts against the cap

Culina can't be any worse than what we've seen this year but it's pretty short term signing, maybe we're better off just cutting and running on this season and save cash for next year

What we are paying Pantelis counts towards our cap. Anything we pay for an injury replacement for him, is excluded as long as we don't pay them more than Pantelis.

Culina was contracted to a club on the 1st of December, so is unable to be an injury replacement for any other club except in "exceptional circumstances".

That is why I threw the Aussie marquee option out there. Doubt Downey would leave for less than we are paying him, so unsure if we would have the wiggle room under the cap for Culina, if Ricki did want him.

We may not sign Culina because we are too close to the cap, an unwillingness to spend $ or do not see him fitting in with the team. Squad space should not be a problem because Downey's contract is expiring at the end of the season and we have committed X amount of $ on him until then, you might as well pay that now if it opens a spot for a player that could result in improved performances in the remaining 7 games.
