Kermit = we're getting a muppet?
In Pav we already have our very own Muppet. No need for another thank you.
If you do a google image search for "footballer frog" Ronaldinho also appears.

A frenchman (frog) joining the Nix. Wasn't that rumour floating around last season?
Yeah, I believe Robert Pires was mentioned for a while.

Nah, surely the frog doesn't mean french?
That would be too easy
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Jamie Doris should be one of the eight finishing school players. Just been released by Hibernian. Would make the Nelson contigent rise to two - after Jeremy Brockie of course.
On the A-League letting Kiwi's or Oceania players not count as forgeiners it's AFC's call not the Aussies.
Totori - we have Ifill. Similar players and Paul is better.
Boxall used to play DM a bit for Auckland City.
Ian Hogg should be signed, quick, can scvore, can coss and will mean Lochead isn't an automatic selection unless he's injured - we may even get season 1 Lochead back with a bit of heat on his position

It doesn't really make sense to sign 'young all whites' if they dont qualify as under 21 players. As the club has said they want a senior RB and striker, and a u21 mid & cb.
I'm not sure if Myers qualifies for a youth spot, although Brent Griffiths was 21 before season start IIRC.
But I would take guys like Boxall for sure
Without being too ACFC centric if the Phoenix want a senior striker Exposito would be great - played 2nd Div in Spain and looked dangerous at CWC. Mc George could be the U21 option for midfield but would like to see us sign Clapham now Brown is retired. Think Clapham offes better distribution than Brown but not so blood and thunder. Also Myers got turned inside out by Totori in two seperate games - not sure.

McGeorge isnt under 21.
Clapham for me has never looked like he would be anything special in this league.
Myers natural position isnt right back i believe
That's me told then!
So is Myers a Centre Back being played on the right of the back three?
Either way he didn't do himself any favours in the Solomons - maybe thrown in too early?

So Totori to Phoenix..?
Interesting - I thought he was gonna be here for a trial. Im not completely against it, but not satsfied with the squad
Totori...hmmmm!
Is this for a trial or as a signing?
Decent enough player. Muddled around NZ scene for a while and tried MLS. Showed good form in the Honiara tournament.
Wonder how he would go in the week in week out grind of A-League football...where getting monstered by good physical CB's is par for the course.
Could be a good lowbudget signing.....but takes up overseas slot. We have looked at him many times in the past....has he suddenly got a whole lot better or does he fit the price/value slot.
Hmmm, food for thought. But that article doesn't name any sources from the Nix, or even Totori himself, or his agent (assuming he has an agent). Although a few of us on here were talking about him, IIRC Ricki hasn't mentioned him at all either, so for now:

Roy Krishna plays for Fiji and he played for them yesterday against us. Doesn't qualify as a Kiwi.
If he had dual then he would not be an import, but why would you want a player who had trials both with us before and NQF and was not picked up. Has he improved significantly since?

Hopefully it is just some wires being crossed in the media, and it is just a trial. He has been around the NZ scene for long enough, you can only assume Ricki didn't think he was capable to step up. A trial would at least give Ricki a better chance to look.
...
looks like Skeptical Dog has been proven wrong - apparently we have signed him (info on the official signings thread)

Seeing as we need a gun striker and we're not too rich... do you think Ricki might be having a quiet word with Benjamin Totori this evening? I was impressed.

We've used 4 out of 5 imports.
Ifill, Sanchez, Smith, Totori
Hey so this means we have used 3 import slots right?
And I have to assume that since we signed from a much lower level he is cheap right?
Now I know we said we were thinking about not using all of our imports but given that Totori is a cheapy, could Totori be using the import slot we had next to no intention of using?
Therefore leaving 2 further import slots and salary cap space?
Given these propositions can I continue to stare hopefully at the horizon waiting for a right back and outrageous striker/Epic left winger?
We have 17 signed, and need 2 youth players still.

*I mean four import slots, dammit. We need to use that slot on an incredible player or I think the season will be a little disapointing and the squad a little underwhelming.
"Yellow Fever are fantastic – I have to say that"
Why not sign a Right back who will also score 10+ goals a season. Obviously youth. Doesnt even have to be a foreigner.
^^^ this guy is genius!
Get the word to Ricki asap.
"Yellow Fever are fantastic – I have to say that"
AHahah great call PlaywithFire!! That would be awesome :)
I have to say, I'm quite stoked we signed Totori, he's definitely one of the better Island players, he was in red hot form at the OFC.
However, I was hoping we would use an import slot for a player with more pedigree a la Ifill or similar.
I also hope Ricky will play him enough. Our coach seems to do a lot of tactical work with players before throwing them in the midst.. and since Totori seems fairly raw tactically, I wonder how much game time he's gonna get. Although the fact that was signed on a 1 (+1 year option) should mean that he will get some chances..
Wish him the best, I really do hope he will smash a few in for us.
Also, with Benji counting as our 4th import, I wonder if we'll re-sing Mr. Greenie or whether we'll use the 5th import slot for someone else...
Lastly, those of you who are friends with the FEVER on Facebook...the new Totori song...BLOODY FUNNY!!!

I really hope we don't spend megbucks trying woo Elrich into signing.
Pretty sure he will sign with Sydney or Sydney anyway.

You live for it.
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
Just a random thought, would people be happy if we signed Joel Porter now? Or is he too old? Would we prefer DMac?
I feel like our squad does need that experienced front man who knows where the net is, and it could end being greenacre if we dont use an import on the rightback.
Porter missed most of last year with injury, and didn't really impress me when he was fit in previous seasons. If it comes down to the last dance at the disco, I would grab D-Mac again. He is a bit of a donkey, but we know what he brings to the table.
I would hope we could do better, but there is a massive lack of options available who are non-visa.
