Three games in and you want to discard him already. Will pass on your suggested swap.Im hoping once brockie gets his first he will go on with it.Really hope he hasnt done all his scoring pre season.

Brockie is a good signing. He's a reasonably young New Zealander that is A-League quality.

SVD would be a great signing though as I think we need a more out and out striker. That said, we do have a lot of forward options.

I think SVD would be brilliant for us - he'd suit our play perfectly.  Ditch Clark who is clearly a failed punt (he hasn't played in matches where we've been crying out for someone to stretch the game late)

i think people are forgetting we have 5 foreigners (i beleive). 1) therefore SVD cannot be swapped for brockie who is a new zealander. Clarke is an injury replacement, in the place of sanchez and therefore cannot be swapped for SVD

Brockie scored 18 goals in pre season guys.....  What has he done where it actually matters ? Fuck all is what.

I will give him until round 5 to impress me.

Ah, great to see the good ole angst making a return to the forums.

Feel much more at home here now.

Van Dijk wants to go to Indonesia, not here.

Brockie scored a few for the Jest last season remember, perhaps once he puts one in more will follow.

I will say - In Stein we trust. A signing coming in under the Radar and showing himself to be a real bargain. Not just the goals but what he does off the ball as well. Stretching the defences all the time. VERY happy with him.

Three rounds in and already calls for the axing of Brockie, Siggy and Ifill. Remarkable.

Quite.  Surprised it's taken as long as three rounds!

What kind of central midfielder? I think we did okay once lia was on, mainly because we gave them less space.

I think the issue is neither of our two strikers dropped deep enough in defense to shut out milligan - and our wide players didnt offer enough on defense.

If we put sanchez or lia back into the lineup, it could possibly isolate mr huysegems

I agree we did better when Lia came on but MV also took their better players off. I was thinking of a central midfielder that does exactly that, hovers around the centre of the park and makes himself available to collect the ball and distribute.....and fills the centre of midfield gap that we have due to our wide players staying out wide and not helping out the current embattled midfield

Weird,I remember being quite happy with husegems defensive work. Thought we looked decent enough on attack once ifill went up front and brockie out wide too. It was just god awful defending. Ange exposed rickis tactic of having bertos and Lochead push way up,boxall also didn't have a very good game in the centre. Bertos also kept playing everyone onside.

Smith did a good job once again of taking tim browns place as the ghost of the midfield. Been disappointed with him of late, which is sad because I had high hopes. Did look better once lia came on,so may see him starting soon. Would still prefer Sanchez in there once he gets fit etc.

Problem with Sanchez is that he can't tackle and he's not great in the air. You couldn't put him in a two man midfield.

Smith did a great job playing just in front of the back four last season but doesn't look quite comfortable at the moment. Mind you he's been clobbered the last few games.

I agree on only one thing in that entire article I think.  We need a central midfielder.  Marquee is neither here nor there, but a central midfielder with similar credentials to Ifill/Greenacre/Huysegems.  Not to replace Muscat though.  He is an ideal DCM and that is where he belongs.

We need a right and left back. Its bordering on comical that a club with aspirations of a top 2 finish doesnt even have a dedicated right back...

"and it would release Manny Muscat to return to right back, where he's most effective at A-League level."

Lol.

There's also no way we could bring a player in at the moment due to the transfer rules, other than for a guest stint. Having a player here for 10 games wouldn't help us at all. The main point of the article is hoping for something that cannot happen due to A-League rules.

Also, it laments that Brockie wasn't playing on the left flank, where he would have been more effective. Did Tony Smith not realise that Ifill and Brockie switched positions after about half an hour?

And Danny Hay to join the Phoenix coaching staff? Never going to happen. Not on Ricki's watch.

Pretty sure we could sign up a free agent at any point of the season?

And its not like the transfer rules actually mean anything

Not 100% sure on the HAL but most leagues only allow you to register players during transfer windows (some have extensions for free transfers(players not registered with a club)/loans/transfers from lower leagues within the country). We could sign someone but if they cannot be registered we can't play them.

grella joined only a few weeks ago and that seems to be outside the window?

Oh yeah, then might be fine then. Might be unregistered players only until Jan.

Ok most likely the wrong place but since V P has been at M United Roomey has taken/ been given a new role . Who at the Nix can take this role or who could we get to cover this role. Only an example but we need a striker/runner/mid/defender with that type of engine.

Pretty sure the A-League transfer window closed on the 31st October. Grella was signed before then.

Free agents would be able to be signed, but unless it is a guest stint, we are limited to Aussie/Kiwis. There isn't any one of decent quality available on a free.

so the window lasts for 2 months?

Heard something that Alex Smith is eligible for aussie residency soon. Not sure how, but that'd be damn handy

According to this - http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/Registrations/Registration_Regulations/ITC_Fact_Sheet_Professional_Players_Dec11.pdf

The FIFA approved 2012 International transfer windows for Australia were 17th January - 14th February & 9th Aug - 31st Oct.

Can't seem to find info for the 2013 windows. Would assume it would be similar dates.

Would be handy for Smith to get his Aussie passport, but surely he would struggle to meet the requirements if he has been living in NZ for the last couple A-League seasons?

I still think Aaron Clapham could step up to the A League. He's good at distribution, tackles well and has a good shot. Not only would he not breach the import quota but he's desperate to get a professional contract. It seems so obvious to me.

On another note I started a thread on the Holmesdale forum (Crystal Palace) suggesting they should sign Chris Wood when his loan deal expires with Millwall. It has received a lot of posts, mostly favourable. One knowledgeable A League fan has suggested Palace chase non other than Siggy. So you've heard the rumour here first - Ben Sigmund for high flying Palace in the English Championship.
