He has played as a midfielder/forward. I'm not sure his best position but I think a distributing midfielder would probably be it from seeing him in NZ

He's played wingback a ton too when he was around at Waikato FC, but it never did seem like his best position. JV and others are right in saying that he's a good NRFL player, he did a good job for Waikato when he was with us but never did I think he had the potential to be anything other than a good ASBP player for a bad team.
Well assuming he plays centrally we are not exactly flush with such players at the Phoenix so he is probably worth a look. I dont think he is thinking he is going to get a contract from solely a DVD and is simply angling for a trial. Good on him. Does any one know how on earth he ended up in costa rica?

Interesting that Ernie has said a defender to come in but hasn't stipulated right/left/cb. Right back is what we need most - I think Lochy will finally go and Rowe and Hogg will share the left back role. After last season I do wonder about Siggy and Dura as a partneship.

I have made no secret that I think Sigmund has been overrated and it seems the blinkers have come off for some people. This I not an 'I'm right' post but more around options.
If Merrick talks about another CB, what does that say to Boxall and what he has done and his position in the squad. Technically better than Sigmund on the ball but not as tenacious. Boxall has gone from MLS to not even getting off an A League bench. Is he now done? Young player so can't say its over for him but what has made him become an also ran in the space of 12 months?
Manny says himself that he is a RB. What does that say to him?
If they play a back 3 with Manny, Sigmund and Durante (unlikely but based on whats on the books....) That makes us look brutally thin at the back.
I have reservations of moving to a back 3 if Ben Sigmund is one of them.

He has one foreign spot and that will go to a CM/DM that leaves NZ or Australian talent of which there isn't much left at CB unless he wants to pick up Colosimo? Thanks but no thanks
Siggy had a fantastic 2011/12 and was hampered by a terrible midfield last season. Having said that he has his limitations and I feel like Boxall has the potential to be a great A League CB if given the chance
So im summary let's hold onto both and give Boxall his chance!

I've never said there has been anything special about Sigmund but he's always put in good shifts consistently until the season just gone and he has always deserved his spot until now, when I think we can all agree he will have to improve a lot or we're screwed unless we sign someone better.
