Danny Hay got rid of Ricki, so his job is done. Until he starts the campaign, five games into next season, and maybe THIS time he'll get the job and move the Phoenix to Trusts Stadium.

We lost the export 33 sponsorship because of the FFA. They took cash in Aussie to ban alcohol sponsorship in the A-League. Never found out if we were compensated.

Didn't Adelaide seek compensation because they lost their Cooper's sponsorship? Never heard how that worked out in the end.

Don't mind Danny over some of the other reporters. Has an ego, but i think generally picked things the right way when looking at Ricki and how he was approaching things last year.

I heard the "Tackling Binge Drinking" campaign is worth more $ to the Nix than Export 33 was.

And if you think the A-League is miles better than League 2 you're dreaming

Should be allowed both IMO.  It's possible to advertise alcohol and campaign against alcohol abuse I think.  Alas the nanny state must believe we are incapable of understanding this ourselves.

I don't think the tackle binge drinking would want/allow both as part of the sponsorship, and probably vice versa.

Allegedly

Yeah I understand the reasoning, it's just a bit frustrating that a potentially big revenue stream is now out of reach (despite the stop binge drinking supposedly offering more cash).

It is no different than the having only 1 sponsor from a particular sector..... ie you would not have "Westpac, official Bank of the Nix" then accept sponsorship from the ANZ.

Story says he's left Bala Town of Welsh League to play professional football in NZ

Surely Merrick not signing players from the Welsh League????

Welsh Premier League can't be that bad can it? He's a RB so that ticks a box. Bala town doesn't do too badly either apparently. And he is English not Welsh in case anyone doesn't like the Welsh for some reason. He's 24.

Link: http://www.balatownfc.co.uk/news/transfer-news/2013/may/28/irving-leaves-the-lakesiders

He recently scored in the dying minutes to send Bala town to a Europa League play off.

Edit. I retract my statement; Welsh Premier League must be pants if you would rather get released from your contract to play in NPL. How is going from Europa League play offs to NZ semi-pro a career advance. My head hurts now.

If you're giving up the chance to play Europa league to play Northern Div 1 in a place like Ngaruawahia  then clearly Welsh League isnt that flash
