I hope Greenacre is having a serious look at Storm Roux. We need a RB and his pathway into the Glory starting XI is blocked by Risdon. They have recently re-signed a couple other young fullbacks, so decent chance the Glory would let him go.

Not sure if this has been posted but Piney said on twitter that Chris Greenacre has apparently headed to Turkey to look at the U-20 world cup for players from NZ and Aus.

That is what started the current talk of cr*p places to live. Only two Aussie u20's off contract that Greenacre can look at are Gameiro & Maclaren. And Corey doesn't wanna be here cuz he thinks Welly is cr*p aparently.

Ah. I did wonder how the topic had drifted! The one time I met Corey Gameiro was on Courtney Place on Saturday night... he certainly seemed to be enjoying Wellington then is all I will say.

Before any one moans about the kids using up the cap space, the cap will no doubt increase once the new CBA is agreed upon. I doubt we would be any worse off by filling all 23 spots, than the 21 we normally run with.

Anyone know what happened to Adam Thomas?

Needs to settle into a position first. I think his best one is CB and we have 3 AWs there already.

Roux at RB? released by Perth apparently and Ernie said that he did want some youth on the wings (i could be wrong) and Greenie could pick up on him if he plays well at the u20 world cup http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/a-league-transfer-centre-keep-on-top-of-all-the-ins-and-out-across-the-competition-this-off-season/story-e6frf4gl-1226667577997#.UcUM8vlkOSr

He's well worth a look, I think he may be one of the players Greenie is scouting in Turkey.

Any thoughts on Barbiero? Released from Adelaide, a central midfielder who I have always liked and looks the best prospect of those players available from the A league

I've always liked him. So long as he doesn't do a Pantelis I'd be happy

I also think we could do worse than Barbiero. Skillful, scored some excellent goals during his time with the Pissants, despite his occasional 'rush-of-blood-to-the-head' propensity to foul the opponent. He is what I would "Daniel On Steroids", in that he actually has the skill and true ability that Daniel promised so often but in his later days at WPX only occasionally delivered.

Yeah, but the rain comes straight down rather than horizontally.

This. I've been here 7 years, and I'm over it. The # 1 thing that stops me turning out for Nix games, the weather. Why pay $30 to pick up the flu when I can enjoy it from the comfort of my house?

You should know that you get the flu from a virus, not the weather. And if you purchased a season ticket the cost per game is about half that.

#4k4nix

"Harden up."

I'm just offering perspective of someone who made one game last season, and that was in Melbourne. When the weather is shite I'd rather not be taking me chances at the stadium. Especially on a Sunday night. I think a lot of people agree with me, well most of my mates who turn up to my place to watch the game...

The point is to determine whether I'm a soft cock, but rather that supporting the Nix at the cake tin is bloody hard work. Especially when their football is shite, and given we're discussing this in a transfer thread this doesn't make Wellington that appealing as a player.

and there's the main reason why Sky should not show the games live (at least in Wellington if they can do it) Pathetic Richard. If the game is on in town, get to it regardless of the weather. I play in rain, hail or sun and I'll go to the game in rail, hail or sun because I don't want to miss it, I want to support the team and I LOVE it! Anyway, this is a transfer thread. I'm confused

Sigh, if you had read the previous posts you would have seen we had changed the subject and were actually talking about a player. What say someone starts a new thread "why I live in Wellington?"

I'd like to end the drift by saying that no matter Wellington's shit weather, I go to EVERY home game when I'm in town and I hope I would continue to do so if I moved back.

Babiero looks like he ticks all the boxes although is he the type of midfielder we need? I thought he plays higher up the pitch...

Whilst he can play as a box to box midfielder and has scored the odd great goal, historically he is more of a defensive central midfielder. I am pleased that you and others see some qualities in him. Personally I think he is perfect. An Ausi, available, in a problem position, not geriatric at only 29 and as others have pointed out has a bit of pace, mongrel and can score a goal from long range. p>

Don't see it either. Never seen him play a full game well. Is like Santalab-lite. (and Santalab was shite too)

It could mean that he is looking out for something better, but if it doesn't happen then he'd be happy to come back.

Or he could have just been saying that to be nice, and it doesn't actually mean anything.

I'm thinking the latter.

I wouldn't think twice about signing him. Hasn't been as good in recent seasons as a few years ago but a change of scenery might boost form. Good squad addition in my book.

Same thoughts here. He always looked a more skilful player than Santalab, in my own opinion of course. Faded in the last season but then again, so has Carlos Hernandez (two seasons ago), and we all largely expect him to step up this season.

Barbiero would be OK by me. Maybe not as a starter but certainly would be a good squad player. Remember we have a roster to fill. We get 2 imports and the rest have to come from OZ/NZ. So its experianced A-League players like Barbiero that we seriously need to look at. If its not him then who else.....Biss? We have to get real here, we won't be first choice club for many Oz players. We will have injuries and suspensions.....I would be happy to see someone like Barbiero come off the bench into a Nix game

It's hard to know for sure, but the counter-point to that is that there's hardly a host of clubs lining up to sign him, so he'd be silly not to keep all his options open.

I say we make an offer for him anyway. Then it's up to him to refuse.

Anyone from the Under 20's???

Top of my list

+ Howieson or Payne on loan if either are forced to play youth football again

+ Tuiloma - Can play RB or LB which is very handy
