Well I guess he did not impress the one who saw him day in day out. He will probably get a FSE gig I guess

He said he was building NZ talent

I thought he'd get signed. Needed the cover, I'm happy enough with that after seeing him for half a game.

which he is, that comment doesn't mean he is only going to sign nz'rs - he has to look for a number of options....being a nz'r would naturaklly put you in favour but if someone else is better and availlable at a better price and provides cover for both full back positions then why not?

The other thing to mention is, is Cameron Lindsay really going to stick around this season and take up space. Sure he's entitled to buuut. Whats the latest?

So one of the three kids here have signed ..does this image mean the other two will be announced shortly too?

In the press release it says we have seven 20 (or under) year olds in the team - Fenton, Boyd, Rufer, Adams, Lindsay - who are the others? Italiano and Caira?

Caira is 20. Italiano is 22.

I picked this on Sunday when he was wearing a suit on the fan day. I would not expect trialists unless they knew they were getting signed to be in a suit already sized for him.

We've got a very young side this year - expect inconsistency

+1. Even a 50% good-crap ratio will be a noticeable improvement.

I hope we don't regret passing on Thompson...

this.

Realistically, our engine room hasn't change since Brown retired. and in a league which is developing each year. this is a worry.

We had limited players playing in a style which did not suit or support the skills or strengths that we had.

I am hoping merrick has looked at this and devised a plan which allows us to protect ourselves against those weaknesses whilst giving us the opportunity to play.

Having Hernandez and Cunningham I believe will make a huge difference to us.

Besides both Manny and Lia can't / won't start.

The way Ernie tells it, he is prepared for both of them to start in front of the back 4 (4-2-3-1)

Who do you think will be starting there? We are quite short in that position, at this stage I would say it is highly likely they will be the starting pair.

moss

fenton siggy durante young aussie guy

                    manny

               rufer      hernandez

ifil                  Hysegems          Cunningham

put to be fair - rufer wont start so you are probably right both will start.

I think I could see see Rufer starting some time this season, he was pretty impressive in that role last weekend. But it would be a pretty abrupt introduction and he will be missing for a chunk at the start with the U17s. I think we really do want to use our last import slot on a starting midfielder.

this is the likely starting lineup I'd expect, although manny is listed on the club's website as a defender and fenton is still down as a sriker as is leo! may even see Leo instead of Lia? God forbid Leo actually starts in a wide position in a front 3!

well, does seem a bit unfair on one J. Brockie club top scorer and not so many off competition golden boot...

Which I recall everyone saying from about game two last year...and now on the eve of the season...

I think Siggy will get the nod initially, but will be pulled pretty quickly if he doesn't perform.

new coach, new selections, and Brockie's performance at Toronto wasn't exactly stunning. Workman-like sure but not scoring at will,.

He's also going to be far more match fit than the rest of the squad at the start of the season.

But hold on, a while ago many were saying Stein will get the nod because he is here and scoring, wheras Brockie was away and not.
Then Brockie comes back and score 2 in the last match....

Law 3 - The number of players

A match may not start if either team consists of fewer than seven players.

Soooooo, if we start with 7 players, can I wear a stupid costume and not watch any part of the game and just lurk in the Concourse?

Back to some good, ol' fashioned Trqnsfer Speculation:

Yossi Benayoun linked to Melbourne Victory...

Surely he would be worth a punt on in a Phoenix kit next season or two? Currently a free agent too!!!

Link on Benayoun. Would have to go down as one of the biggest signings of the A-league era if he were to join. Would be HUGE
