I think whitby boy makes some good points, the longer this drag ons and no signings are made the more i worry about the quality of the strikers we have to choose from, most clubs in the uk have released players by now so if we are in for any of them the longer it goes on the less likely we are to get one of any note - plus we will be competing with other uk clubs who probably have a leg up on us finnacially. If the strikers dodnt come from the uk i think the most likely other location is south america surely Ricki and Tony are pluggin Daniel for contacts, the problem with south america that we have seen so far is it is very hit and miss!

Im starting to worry and dont think we will get a quality striker.

I second that. He's Super Ricki after all.

Together with sidekick TP Boy they shall unveil a striker that will set the A-League afire!

I'm getting more cynical by the day. I trust that they're trying very hard, but a striker that will make a big splash seems to be further and further away.

Are they the new potential signings to set the A-League on fire?

Sorry to disappoint you, KK, but Ricki and Tony have already plugged Daniel for contacts.

In fact, all three of them made a scouting trip to South America a few months back and came away empty handed.

I'm another fan not confident we'll land even one decent striker this late in the piece.

You are about 30 pages late for that discussion.

Sure, but it is officially possible now

" I reckon we'll have an exisitng A-League player next week.

I think HN uses "existing" in the sense of "still breathing" -  which is important for any footballer.

"Not existing" would not be so good. Maybe for a fullback, but not a striker.

I was referring to the fact that if he's an existing A-League player then he'd be contracted to a club... or is he 'contracted' to one of the expansion clubs that do/don't exist? lol

Kwasnik wouldn't be a bad buy.  I'd hope we could get another good striker too (maybe from Chile after that connection they made with NZF that I read on another page).

Didn't someone else (Dayz/Knightz/Kingz/Queenz) trumpet a couple of Chileans a few years back that turned out to be  rather ordinary????   (or maybe  it was in Brizzy...??? )

Kingz - Arron Silva, David Moya, Mauro Donoso, Patricio Almendra.

I think Donoso is still in Auckland somewhere, Almendra was prone to moments of genius but lacked consistency, and fell to the ground WAY to easily.  Moya didn't last long, and Arron Silva played for Central for a while but I think eventually went home.

Thanks News, I can remember Silva... how did they perform vs the expectations when they came over?

They came in two waves, Silva and Moya were the Kingz first season the other two after the V3 melt down.

Donoso was a useful Centre Back, Moya never got much game time (but he and Silva weren't that hyped).  The hype was all about Almendra and for about ten minutes a game he was genius, one of the best players in the league.  For the other 80 ? Not so much.

Therein lies the challenge I guess, regardless of where a player is coming from around the world... it's relatively easy for a mgr/agent to create hype and a 20/40/60 minute highlights package but it's incredibly hard to judge what impact a player may (or may not) have over the course of a match or season... and coming from Sth America, Africa, Europe, Taihape, etc; creates it's own unique challenges when you take a person out of their comfort zone, and often throw in new language/culture/conditions...

Kwaznik aye? lol

Hell No... once again, if an A-League side released someone and no on else chases them, why would we want them ?

Despite the fact that it is impossible, I still, with baited breath, await for the signings of any two of the following: Jan Koller, Patrick Kluivert, Nuno Gomes

I hope you are reading Tony P

Almendra was perhaps the biggest and most theatrical cheat I have ever seen on a football field.

Nix should sign this kid out of Christchurch.

His Names Daniel Jourdain and he's gonna be better than Pele.
