Phoenix Transfer - speculation (Part 1)

I meant that Ricky is an asset to us. Not only cause he's the AW's coach, but also because he's respected and more than anything he's capable. And he's kiwi. I can't think of anyone else I'd like as the Phoenix coach.

Aloisi? I'm not too keen on him. He hasn't lived up to the expectations (yet) and he must be veeeery expensive. For that amount of money shouldn't we sign someone like Killen, Rukavitstya or some other marksman?

You know, I think that deep down this "we need 2 new strikers" business scares me so much is because I really don't know who we could/should sign.

I mean, the players whose contract expires next year aren't that exciting. I don't know if I'd like us to sign some old European player at the end of his career. Or a new South American who could turn out to be awesome, or could turn out to be George.

I really wish Smeltzy was staying.

I think it would be a major coup if we somehow got John Aloisi. Players have purple patches and lean spells. Next season he could be banging them in. To miss the two sitters he did yesterday he was at least in the right position to miss them.

If you cut his salary but that much you'd probably be able to afford him on your own. Think how cool! you could have him play for Karori..he'd make you look even better than you are!! (and that's a big compliment coming from me!!)

It's not as though they were isolated incidents yesterday - Aloisi's missed a lot of easy chances this season. I remember in our first round win against Sydney he put one onto the post from a foot out: a horrible miss (luckily for us) that would've put them 2-0 up and just about killed the game off.

Robbie Fowler has been released by new Blackburn after manager Sam Allardyce decided not to extend his contract.

Fowler, 33, was signed by former Rovers boss Paul Ince on a three-month "pay-as-you-play" deal, which expires at the end of December.

Grimsby confirmed two weeks ago that they were in talks to bring Fowler in on a player-coach role.

Defensive coach Nigel Winterburn, who was signed on a part-time basis in July, also leaves Ewood Park.

Allardyce said: "We have decided to let Robbie Fowler go. His contract was due for renewal and I decided not to renew that.

Considering he's one of two out and out strikers we have remaining I would have thought we might have heard more, especially as he will still be under 20 and has been scoring reserve team goals his season

Sorry I'm meaning the teams which have played against hbu and waitakere which have been made up mostly of squad players who haven't been making the team on a regular basis. Draper scored two in each of those games. Should have made myself clearer

would like to see Draper get a run at a higher level soon, we know Costa is pretty good by aleague standards and is worth holding on to, but we still haven't seen Draper get an opportunity

I am a fan but we surely don't really need him? Paston with an up and comer such as Spoonley would be sufficient in the goal keeping stakes? If need be we can always source injury cover.

is it really such a good thing if spoonley signs and just sits on the bench tho?

Well perhaps not Spoonley specifically, but would it be a good idea to have a keeper as good as Paston or Bozza on the bench? Perhaps better for a promising younger keeper to be getting training in a professional environment.

I must have missed all the A-League games he's played. Which one in particular made him pretty good by A-League standards?
