Wonder if the team already fly business class to Oz?
Plus we won't be able do Tom Rewi's chant without talking to Rory's agent.

my guess is that rory will leave after WC for the best money Plymouth can get for him
our sniff will be re-sniffable when that contract expires or if the moves on from his post-Plymouth club within 1-3 years, we will need to wait until the contract after that
I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but this seems like Tony P doing good media

I think he seems a good lad. When interviewed he's bubbly, enthusiastic and has a bit of a laugh.
Just bc he has ambition doesn't make him arrogant necessarily. I doubt he said "I am so f'n wonderful and i should be playing in the premiership, cant believe managers havent seen it yet."

Since when has arrogance been a bad thing fora footballer.
I'd rather a stiker with lofty ambitions that one wh goes, hmm the a league is probaly a laevel i could play at.
I think some people are looking for a reason to dislike him (because of his father??). I like his honest style, rather that than been fed what we want to hear by a player who means none of it.

He's under contract for another year - PA will be trying to get as much as they can for him and we won't pay a transfer fee - not going to happen. But just to make absolutely sure he's not going to be given a free transfer we go public with our interest.
I don't understand why Tony P even raised the possibility - we've been there done that with Joel Porter - just makes us look naive.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Whether Rory likes it or not, I think he is now in a League where he is best suited.
I've probably seen him play more then anyone else here on the forum (have seen him live numerous times for Argyle, one of my teams) and what I've always thought is that he is a Heskey, another player that people like to take pot shots at.
Rory splits us Argyle fans down the middle as he appears lazy at times even though he sets up numerous goals for the team, a classic Target Man. He's not the fastest and infact appart from Bradley Wright-Phillips (Shauns brother) argyle lacked pace up front and a settled back line which is why we got religated.

Let the Simon Elliot calls come in
When I said Fallon was arrogant didn't mean it as a bad thing for a striker, but more directed that he's still a few years away from playing for the Phoenix and he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would be like yeah ill come give something back to NZ football (not that he needs to) but just seems unrealistic.

Simon Elliot!
Yeah yeah !!!
He'll do good for us here at the Phoenix. Just a season or two though, no further. He's 35 already
cant see it myself..he wants to play in the states, plus hes 35, plus i think that he sits too deep sometimes and we already have plenty of midfielders that do that...and based on last nights game shooting is a bit suspect

I think he'll fit in perfectly. We have Big Mac and Greenie as our strikers now and i think Elliot can provide good early long balls for them. He'll sit in front of Lia, Moosecat and stay behind our strikers in midfield, especially when Brown wants to go up front in support. Plus Elliot's a bit more experienced than any of our current midfielders (not necessarily better). I personally like his passing skills and vision for early balls.
regarding shooting the ball - We've seen worse at the Phoenix already. Ferrante missing from 6 yards and yet he played for us. but then again times have changed and so has the style Phoenix plays in. On the other hand, when we've got Macllister, Greenie, Ifill and Brown to do the shooting job, i think we will be okay with Simon not showing ball striking prowess. BUT if we can get a GOOD attacking midfielder with the likes of Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard or Iniesta the I wont give Elliott a second thought.

Elliot would compliment the Nix very well. Even at 35 he still has it. He was the best midfielder on the park in the Oz game. Even the Oz commentators said so. Realistically this is probably his last year as a pro footballer. No one is going to pick him up in the USA. He should finish his career at home with the Nix.
As for Fallon.....well he was great against Australia. If he plays like that in the WC then someone else will pick hime up in the UK.....probably at Championship level. The Oz game showed that if you play a style of game that suits the way he plays then he is a very effective player. He completely dominated the Oz defense in the air. Obviously Plymouth are not using him properly.
We might see him and Killen at the Nix but it won't be for a few years. Imagine that, the Phoenix taking the field with Nelsen. Killen and Fallon

Dont believe everything you read.

There weren't many quotes in the article i read about Fallon. Im guessing the question posed was "would you be interested in Fallon if he were available" to which TonyP answered "of course we would be,but we wouldnt want to pay a transfer fee" then they based the article around that, and took the most newsworthy and out of context interpretation, and filled in the gaps with speculation.
Allegedly
