Boyens and  North would be good - we really only have two CB's and whose to say Ricki doesn't use the AW formation with the Nix?

it sounds like the two UK trialists won't get contracts then. Shame there isn't any of Ifills mates wanting to come over..

Wee Mac is with CCM? I was under the impression we couldn't purchase other aleague players? only if they are off contract?

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Same as what I was thinking - Ifill talked about all these players that he knew who were keen to come over. Guess none of them fit the bill.

Dunno, i'm thinking of Magno and the dude who was spotted in the car park by Crewe. I ain't been trolling here recently as much so my knowledge is lacking.

This.

If McKain had stayed, they were all set to play three at the back this season...Sigmund, Durante, McKain.

Would still work with the addition of another decent centre-back.

Who says current all white means was at the world cup? It may just mean has been an all white in the past 12 months.  Would you call someone as recent as Aaron Scott an ex-allwhite? recent all white? current all white? (and as someone said the quote actuaslly says "New Zealander")

Also, Ricki is hardly going to say one of the signings is only going to be a reserve.  He'll talk them up as a potential starter (and note he said arguably) to both keep the current players on their toes and get the new signing's confidence up.

How about Steven Old? I know he was a flop first time around but by all accounts he did a good job for Kilmarnock at Right back.  He was also one of the non-travelling reserves for the WC so could well be termed a current all white. So was Kris Bright.
Or how about Duncan Oughton?
Or from completely left field Kris Bouckenooghe, who played as recently as March last year. He's old though.

at the back and none of them can pick a pass, I hope not

The other option is Cole Peverly, he's been trialling and was in the world cup squad for a time

I'm just not convinced by Boyens, he makes some really basic errors and he's not been able to ever hold down a spot in the states.  In a 23 man squad you're probably only going to hold 3 out and out centre backs so he's one injury away from regular starts and he does not fill me with confidence.

I'd like to see Elliottt the most (he said in his Stuff opinion piece he would consider the Nix)
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/fifa-world-cup/opinion/3858792/Elliottt-Partys-over-now-I-need-a-job

Vicelich seems unlikely, as does Killen or Fallon (though I'd love to see either of them)

Aside from that, Clapham could be interesting (would rather take a punt on a kiwi than anyone else)

Don't see why we need Jade North when we have Sigmund. I'm hoping Sigmund keeps his first-team spot.

the new zealander will be out of james/boyens/vicilich

cant c vicililiech being signed due to his age but his versatility would be ideal
james would be the box-to-box midfeilder we r looking for
boyens would battle to make our starting line up

James couldn't get a start in league 2, and has played 20 odd professional matches in his career over 4 years, no thanks

Also James has burnt bridges.  For him to make it here he'd have to come and trial to prove he has the desire, and a change of attitude.

Potentially playing at the back this season - we'd need four CB's - 3 to start one to cover - I'd take Boyens.

I still think if you're going to have 4 centre backs then one of them has to be able to play at fullback (in a squad of 20/21).  Don't forget we have signed Musa

Making himself unavailable for U20 and U23 squads, turning up for All White camps overweight and unfit... allegedly.

HN he has played for the all whites since the U20s fiasco an, plus he was overlooked for beijing but was picked for confeds cup.he had knee surgery before confeds cup i believe which may explain the showing up unfit.
why then ,if he has apparently burnt bridges, why has it taken herbert this long to disregard the kid.

How about Craig Henderson?

Ricki rates him and if he hadn't been injured would probably have gone to the cup

He's been out of favour for a while, HN will know exactly

I don't think that accusation needs an allegedly, it's been in the media

Don't ask me.   I'm merely stating the impression given by people who I would expect to be aware of the situation.

Personally I'd love to see him at the Phoenix rebuilding his career, but as stated, 20 games in 4 years and unable to get a game at Barnet leaves a lot more questions than answers.

He's just starting on a career he hopes will grow in europe.  Probably thinks he owes his Swedish club as well after getting unjured.

Sounds like MULLIGAN! ARGH!

Seriously though, I'd absolutely love to see Boyens in a Nix shirt... can't believe the rap he has from so many fans, largely due to one air shot vs Spain... how quickly people forget how brilliant he was against Wales etc.

I've seen a lot of him since his Dunedin days (when he generally played in a dynamo defensive midfield role, actually). I reckon if he got a shot at the nix, he'd emulate, and even surpass, what Siggie has done with his career. Boyens has got a lot more technical ability, and better physical characteristics, than Siggie, and I reckon he's almost got as much heart.

Give him a crack, he'll prove a point, he's more than up to A-League standard.

Jarrod Smith is back in NZ (at Napier City) after an injury-plagued MLS career.

12 NZ caps.

Think so - sure I saw his name listed in CL goalscorers the other wee.

Five goals for NCR to date in CL - but just read on cityrovers site that he missed the Chatham Cup fixture against Miramar with an injury.

Scored 6 against Red Sox Manawatu in CC on 20 June - equalling CC record by all accounts

Saw U, honesty call, how many matches have you seen him play in the last 5 years?  That Wales game was a long time ago now...and he's struggled for game time at 2 MLS clubs now.

I haven't seen him play for anyone other than the AWs.  Appreciate the point about Dunedin, I saw him play down there too.  But that's not enough to get you a Phoenix gig.  I mean Mike McGarry is still running around down there
